New owners too. Eastleigh's chairman is taking over. That massive club Eastleigh! They're going to go bust. They have the largest wage budget in non league!

Anyone else find it strange that so many Welsh fans that are almost taking glee in his failure?
He could have been like Hughes and even though his heart wasn't in managing the national side, hung in there until a desperate Premier League club came calling. Alternatively he could have done a Brenda and gone to Rangers, knowing that he will have a job for least the next couple of years (maybe even longer if cons himself and the fans by describing his team home victory against teams like Ross County as 'immense') or a middling Championship team. You know the type; an Ipswich or a Bristol City who are happy to be in the top half of the table. The type of club that will 'give him time'. Enough time for him to realise that they don't have enough financial resources to get promoted.
Or he could have gone somewhere where there was a real challenge. A club which is toxic to the core and have a go at turning them around. If he does turn them around him gets known as Cookie the manager, who took little ole Wales to the Semi-final and sorted out the shittest club in the league. If he fails, he gets a nice payoff and everyone says no blame there fella, not even Guardiola could have kept them up. Let the dust settle he'll have the chance of a middling Championship side before the summer is out.

Anyone else find it strange that so many Welsh fans that are almost taking glee in his failure? I take a certain amount of schadenfreude from it. Now the world cup is almost here I am getting mad all over again that we failed to qualify. We went from Euro 2016 semi finalists to being unable to best ROI and Serbia. What is more, Coleman's masterplan boiled down to winning our last 4 games and seeing where we ended up. It simply is not good enough when we had such a winnable group and our best squad in generations. So yeah, we will be staying home this summer and Coleman will be out of work. He will have trousered a fair few quid from sunderland so hard to feel too sorry for him. I expect he will pop up as a panelist on ITV when England are playing.

We are no better than Serbia, Ireland or even Austria. Could we have won some more matches? Yes... but we were lucky to draw to Georgia too. I don’t think that’s Coleman’s fault in the same way I don’t think it’s because of Coleman we got to the Semi’s. Never expect anything with Wales, especially qualifying. When it happens celebrate it but don’t expect it, it’ll probably leave you heartbroken.

Also, what on Earth are Sunderland thinking? They thought Coleman just doesn't cut the mustard

Had bad feeling with his decision to take that job. Took huge risk with rep after not very good campaign with Wales, should have either stayed with Wales for another campaign or took less poisonous job imo.

Do feel for him, will always have huge respect for where he took us. What I'm baffled by is why he didn't just wait. He could have stayed with us for another campaign where we have a fairly good chance of qualifying and then should we qualify, his stock will be on the up again, hopefully a good Euros and then he can land a job at a Prem club.
But it's a funny old game, I'm sure he'll find a championship level job for next season. Ipswich probably.

Gutted for Cookie, but im sure he will bounce back, Ipswich would be a good next step or Rangers (its not hurt Brendan Rodgers, whose stock is very high right now, despite having the easiest job in football).

The Celtic job is a lot easier than the Rangers job! Rangers fans believe their side should be winning the title every year, but don't have the finances to compete with Celtic

Thought Steven Gerrard was pretty much nailed on for the Rangers job wasn't he? Seems a thankless task atm.

I wonder what kind of job Southgate would get if he took England to a semi final

I wonder what kind of job Southgate would get if he took England to a semi final Then subsequently failed to qualify for the next tournament? Probably around Stoke's level.

Would be a terrible move for him to Ipswich.
They have no money, board have no ambition, yet the fans still complain when they aren't competing at the top end of the table!

Would be an interesting turn of events. I know the Sunderland fans wouldn't be adverse to him returning.

People on here said it was a win win situation for Coleman, when he took the Sunderland job. I’m sorry but they got it wrong!!! Sunderland getting relagated destroyed Cookie’s reputation. No winner there

We have high wage bill, we alledgly close to ffp, we have oldish squad, a owner who is getting involved in dressing room, player power has cost 2 maybe 3 mangers their jobs, fans are at a loss how we fuck up it at latter half of the season and now managerless. To say things are not hunk dorry is in understament promotion seems along way away. Ps. Weather can be bit bad there to.
