I'm a little confused as to what's going on here, he's not been playing much, just the odd cameo off the bench, he's supposedly possibly got a family bereavement, how does this prevent him from playing in 6 days time? If it's close family I understand it's difficult but I'd have thought that he'd be able to join up with the squad still and play a part in trying to get us to our first World Cup in 64 years.

The fact that he's been missing Juve games means no one can moan about him not making it this time. That won't stop people though

This is juve playing us, and weak from wales. Expected to be fit for juve 7 days later. Same as the last time he pulled out.
Wales should get him over to be assessed, this has been going on too long and there’s clearly no dialogue with the club as he gets named every time then pulled out.
In no way is this helping our prep for each camp.

That won't stop people though It appears he is set to be fit for Juve the immediate game after, so the question is, is there an argument that he *could* play a part for us (perhaps an agreement that if we aren’t winning at the 70th minute mark against Estonia he plays 20 minutes?) for us if the goodwill was there on the part of the player and his club? We simply don’t have enough information to know. It comes down to trust of the player and of the club. We all, I’m sure, want to trust the player, but do we trust the club? Hmm…Either way you have to at least appreciate why people are going to be sceptical that, at the very least, the FAW are being taken for a ride on this occasion, if not others too. All this over a player that clearly doesn’t seem to be in Allegri’s plans at the moment to boot!

True, also we have players like Connor roberts who’s played 45 mins all season turning up. “Connor is different, he's going away with Wales but we've made it clear to them he's hardly played, he's played 45 minutes so he's a bit behind the curve.“ He may not play at all because of his fitness but he’s allowed to join up.

People will argue that Roberts doesn’t have a history of injury, isn’t paid as much etc which is fair up to a point. I expect the “can-do” attitude of the club plays a significant part on top of that too though and it wouldn’t surprise me to learn the FAW don’t really have a relationship with Juve/aren’t respected by them.

Come to think of it, didn’t John Charles say that his big regret was not winning more Wales caps? Hmm….🤔😂

Come to think of it, didn’t John Charles say that his big regret was not winning more Wales caps? Hmm….🤔😂 Didn't they try and stop him joining the Wales squad in '58 for the world cup playoffs with Israel? Maybe they've been waiting all this time for an opportunity to get one over on Wales...

Pinch of salt for me.
We all saw the shambles that occurred when Bale's injury was an announced, downplayed and then ruled out for over 2 months.
Won't believe it until he actually steps on the pitch Friday.

Some people will never be pleased.
Imagine your workplace telling you to go to Newcastle for a work event. Unless you're in love with your job, could you really be bothered? How do you get there? Drive? Train? Where are you staying? Then you have to get back. Damn, you even have to be away from the kids! They're gonna miss you! That's OK, you can get them a nice gift from Newcastle. Oh wait, you're barely going to see the place because as soon as the meeting is done, you're off back home. So I guess it's an overpriced, stuffed toy from a WH Smith at a services. You get home, and you're knackered. Work tomorrow too!
Ramsey has already travelled from Italy to Wales. He then has to go to the Czech Republic and Est-flipping-stonia!! He's going away from his family for about 10 days. He really doesn't need to do this. He could retire and still go down as one of Wales' greatest footballers.
But he's already started yet another epic journey for Wales. Money has nothing to do with it, because yet again, he really doesn't have to do this. There wouldn't be any punishment. He wouldn't be sacked. He could just chill out with his family over the international break.

I don't think this a very good comparison if I'm honest, he's a multi millionaire footballer, not a roadworker. I'm neutral on the Ramsey situation at the moment until we find out just exactly what is going on.

If I went to Newcastle for a boring meeting, by myself in a hotel room that sounds about right. He's travelling to meet up with some people he's extremely close to, probably even misses. Used to be roommates with Gunter and now gets to catch up with him after being in another country. He's doing something he loves and if done right is incredibly rewarding. If I hit a target its a thank you email, if Ramsey gets it right 30,000 people will be singing his name. No one will buy a t-shirt with my name on the back. Of course there's the failure side with abuse and feelings of failure but that's the sport they're in.

Its not just Ramsey doing this its another 22 players. If he didnt play for Wales he would not be going down as one of our best ever footballers - the performances and chances he's had with Wales have highlighted what a great player he is. I dont think his career spans just a few good seasons at Arsenal.

Yeah you’re right, with all that money, help, and free time outside of training and match days, I forgot how hard of a life it is for a professional footballer. He gets more family time in a year than what most people get in a lifetime. Jeez.

To be fair to foxmulder I think people are missing the point. I don't think he was suggesting that it's any more difficult than what other footballers experience, I think it was just a basic point in response to those questioning Ramsey's commitment. If he wasn't bothered about representing Wales, he would have retired rather than having to make the sacrifices that comes with international football (this was HRK's stated reason for retiring btw). So he clearly does want to play for Wales. The obvious logic from that is he misses Wales games for genuine injury issues. But that doesn't fit into most people's narrative where they need to imply he lacks commitment in order to have a go, because they wouldn't look decent if they had a go at a player for the simple fact of him being injured. That's why it doesn't matter how much people are shown the games he's also missed for his club, or the fact he isn't even a first team player for his club so it's absurd to think they're going to the lengths people are suggesting to prevent him from joining up. People just won't accept it because they don't want to and they don't want to because that's how they deal with the frustration.

Thanks iot, that's the exactly the point I was trying to make.
It's impossible for us to put ourselves in a footballers shoes. No matter how we try, it's a completely different world. I was just trying to make it relatable as much as possible.

Well he may not play any part but as said above at least the Wales doctors have the chance to assess the situation which is still an improvement on him staying at the Juventus training ground for rehab or whatever.
