Arsenal it has to be said are not the team they were even last year and losing Nasri and Fabregas will exacerbate that. Ramsey being in the side doesn't mean a great deal, especially while Wilshere is injured. His competition is basically Frimpong, Rosicky and Abou Diaby (unfit at present). When Arsenal make a couple of signings in that area (as they will have to) if Ramsey is still getting in the side it will be a meaningful achievement. Im sorry but ramsey starting every game for Arsenal in the premiership so far plus europe, playing full 90 mins is a hell of an achievement for a young welsh player. Especially when you put this in context with the rest of the welsh squad. Who else has had this experience this season? Ledley? crofts? edwards? vaughan? Collison? not even Bale. but yeh lets drop him for the next wales match is it... So you would STILL play him even after tonight? If so, what would he have to do for you to drop him? Hes only in the Arsenal side because they have a dearth of available midfielders- if Fabregas and Wilshere were available to Wenger do you still think Ramsey would be starting? He should be treated like any other player, if he is playing badly then he needs to be dropped.

The point is not him being in the arsenal side when they have injuries your point was dropping him for the next wales game. He's getting games for arsenal therefore he should be in our 11. We are a weaker side without Ramsey in our team, hasnt the past year proved this?

He was poor for Arsenal tonight, his through balls were average and he should have been booked for a dive. But he was attempting through balls. Confidence in his ability. He was absolutely correct to try and win a penalty. We need this kind of winner's attitude in our squad.

This thread is ridiculous and depressing.
A 20 year old Welsh central midfielder has just helped his club win a vital champions league game away to the 4th best team in Italy and all people on here want to do is come on here and rubbish him?!
A total load of fucking bollocks.

Yeah, and so what?! Jock fans don't give a shit that they pretty much cheated us out of the 1978 world cup! Maradona doesn't give a shit that he cheated England out of the 86 world cup! If we get some players clever enough to win us big decisions by cheating then I'm all for it. Because to tell you the truth I've had a fuckful of failure...

Calm down dear, its only a mouse! ;D Id be bitter as fuck if we got stitched up by a dive in a play-off so I wouldnt take much delight from winning that way.

* As this is an article about positive things, a plus from the sales of Nasri and Fabregas might be that Aaron Ramsey will be forced to mature even quicker. The extra responsibility placed on the young Welshman could either make or break him, but on current evidence it looks as if the former is more likely. Against Udinese he was quietly composed, probing the Italian defence with careful passes, and generally playing in a manner more composed than is normal for a 20-year-old. With Jack Wilshere out until lord knows when, Arsenal will need his creativity and level-head. www.football365.com/faves/7122573/F365-Says

I thought he did well and look composed on the ball but because he didnt score or make a spectactular assist in a european match suddenly he's had a bad game and should be dropped from wales! some interesting comments from ratcliffe on ramsey news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14509254.stm

"Winners will do anything to win. We need some of these people." We need a lot of these people. I'd draw the line at the use of weapons and bribery because the penalty for being caught is severe.

Never posted before but this has finally coaxed me in due to it being TOTALLY RIDICULOUS (which I know is your aim with your #shock views). Ramsey had a decent, assured performance last night. He made the most passes on the pitch (90 - Sky Sports News) in a team which dominated possession (60% - SSN) AND WON THE FUCKING GAME 2-1 AWAY FROM HOME and helped his team through to THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGES. He was playing in a MASSIVE HIGH PRESSURE GAME the media has been all over Arsenal and what did he do?? Showed huge composure and played the whole game. HE IS EXACTLY THE CALIBRE OF PLAYER WE NEED.

Cheers for the welcome all.
I've edited my post now to contain the actual score, I was using the aggregate score as that is what I had in my head during that brief period of rage/disbelief as to what I was reading from Storm. Thanks though, A. Pedant.

First rule of football: No player should be bigger than the team. Thats obviously in theory, sadly in practice Bale and particularly Ramsey, are bigger than Wales based on reputation alone. At least Bale always turns up in a Wales shirt. Ramsey was poor against England and a liability against Australia with some of his ambitious passes that he gave straight to Australian players. It makes no sense to play a player who has played as bad as Ramsey has in recent weeks, especially when Allen and Collison displayed the dynamism that Ramsey sadly lacked against Australia. I also want to add that a lot of the theories on this thread about why Ramsey should be 'dropped' are based on BIG games people have seen him play in on TV. Storm, the two alternative starters you suggested ahead of Ramsey are Allen and Collison. Here are the last 3 club games by each player: Joe Allen: 90 mins in a 3-1 loss v Shrewsbury (Carling Cup) 15 mins in a 0-0 draw v Wigan (EPL) 25 mins in a 4-0 loss v Man City (EPL) Jack Collison: 00 mins in a 1-2 loss v Aldershot (Carling Cup) 58 mins in a 2-2 draw v Leeds (Championship) 75 mins in a 0-4 win v Watford (Championship) Aaron Ramsey: 90 mins in a 1-0 win v Udinese (Champions League) 90 mins in a 0-2 loss v Liverpool (EPL) 90 mins in a 1-2 win v Udinese (Champions League) I'm guessing you have watched every minute of Ramsey, maybe 25 mins of Allen v Man City and none of Collison? What does that tell you? He is playing in the BIGGEST games and is holding is own. I'm very excited about Allen and Collison, both livened up my evening in CC Stadium v OZ no end but how can you justify starting them above Ramsey based on club performances when (I presume) you've not seen much of them?

powys: thats a fair shout, neither of collison or allen have played much in recent times and its not perfect to make a sample based on 2 contrasting halfs v oz, and some poor recent games for arsenal and wales. But i have to say that i agree with muay thai, i think ramsey does slow a game down, i c that as great 4 arsenal as it suits their style. Quality players can play slow football and tear teams apart. We have an abundance of average players, but we do have major pace. It would benefit us greatly to 4get this possession domination style and play on the counter attack more, make the most of our pace. When allen and collison came on they raised the tempo and we actually threatened oz and looked better than we have in a long while. The long and the short of it is that we need to up the tempo, when he has a bad game ramsey holds the tempo up. Imo, obvs

You mean he dived? ;D It wasn't a dive. I don't think he was looking for the penalty, he made no fuss about it when the ref didn't give one. I think he went down under the challenge. He does look like he needs to do a bit of work on his upper-body strength. He gets barged off the ball too easily. Other than that I thought he had a solid game last night - some decent passing and didn't give the ball away in dangerous positions. Compared to Bale though he's miles behind, unfortunately.

Though his passing is actually quite accurate. Also playing a slow tempo can be a good thing in internationals sometimes, especially in games against big, physical teams who will muller you if you try and play one-touch football to feet. I think this is actually a very interesting point we've struck upon here. Watching our players play for Wales they play as they do with their clubs rather than as a unified team with a shared tempo. This is another thing that a good manager would sort out for us. Australia definitely played the team game very well, breaking at pace for their second goal. We need to find a tempo that works tactically against the opposition we're playing and get everyone in the team playing to it.
