Will be stunned if Wilson gets game time. We're ok on the flanks with HRK, Cotterill, Macdonald and, at a push Taylor, in the squad
Brilliant news about Ginge!

Overall this is positive and we all need and deserve that. But why is this player not with the u21s?

Nice I don't expect Harry Wilson to get any game time, but I do believe he's going to be a great player. Think Declan John and Lloyd Isgrove should get some game time.

I honestly can't see the benefit of throwing in a kid who has only ever played youth level football in at the deep end like that. To be playing senior national football a player needs to prove himself playing senior first team football beforehand. I think Ryan Green should have taught the FAW that much. I dont doubt Wilson's potential but you cant go picking players in competitive international games just on the basis of how good they might turn out to be in the future; if he's knocking on the Liverpool first team door come the end of the season then go ahead and pick him then. Maybe he's dual qualified or something and they are just getting paranoid but it doesn't really feel right to me.

If he's good enough, he's old enough. If he's not ready, at least he'll get to train with the squad - a good experience for him. To paraphrase Harry, he's the future captain of Wales afterall.

He's said he wants to be Wales' captain one day, this is utter bollocks. No worries

Don't think this is an issue. Just saw these comments online. Also there was a loads of his family and friends at the game the other night and they went crazy when his name was announced.
@damien_Mufc: @shakeymatchworn he's a great kid. He's just left the school I work at. Level headed and great ability. Welsh through and through.
@damien_Mufc: @shakeymatchworn @greggcarter not a chance he'll choose England. His family and friends follow Wales abroad. Very patriotic.

we should still give him the last couple of minutes in Belgium, there is no reason not to just to be safe, unless the result is hanging in the balance

If there's anyone that needs to be locked down to us, its Isgrove. He's far more likely to go to the dark side.

If true, then England are starting to look a bit comical. An unproven 16 year old who is Welsh and has Welsh parents. We simply must cap him (and Isgrove) vs Belgium. England seem to have a policy to desparately try to cap anyone who could possibly play for them and who could possibly improve to be international class. I think they'll suffer a big backlash from within if this continues to the extreme it is!

Lets hope he's not big pals with Lloyd 'turncoat' Jones!

Apparently England could poach him on the 5year residency rule? I did not realise this story is all over the press. Seems a comment from the WFA has ignited the story. Here's an idea WFA members; keep your gobs shut and do what you are supposed to do. Its clear you do little good for the game but please do not damage us!
Why make a big thing of this in the press - just keep everything quiet and cap him on Tuesday. Probably Coleman will make a big thing of 'wanting to play for Wales' and will refuse to cap him and Isgrove on principal come
I guess there is a risk of Emyr Hughes being pinched under the 5 yr residency rule? Why did he pull out of the last U21s squad? Can you imagine the future England team with Lloyd Jones and Emyr Hughes down the spine of the team! We have to be proactive and not play the victim here

I really don't care if players switch or not. Proud Welshmen won't even consider it and I only want proud Welshmen to play for us.

Not sure who Emyr Hughes is, but Emyr Huws has not had five years schooling in england, and would therefore not be eligible. Neither have any interest in playing for england.

Yep I had a hunch this might be why he was catapulted from the Liverpool under-18 subs bench in to our senior squad. Sounds like he's made it loud and clear he wants to play for Wales though so its nothing to panic over, its not the same as with Lloyd Jones - that kid's welsh like Harry Wilson and Gareth Bale are English i.e not really at all.
Why would England want Isgrove and Huws though? Was there a scout at the San Marino under-21 game checking them out as they never get a sniff of premiership action and who says they would be interested anyway?
The whole granny rule is a joke really though, we've used and abused it so much one day we are the ones going to get abused, give me a Spaniard who's lived here 6 years over one of them any day.

So basically via Twitter and a couple of local rag articles we've identified several soureces that suggest Wilson ever playing for England is an absolute non-starter. When did Fleet Street journalists stop doing any research?

Great story! I wonder how much he stands to win? Must be thousands! I don't think there's much danger of Wilson turning to the dark side, but the disturbing thing about this story for me is that England are now (perhaps)targeting young Welsh born and bred players. To me that's beyond the pale. And yes, I know we target young English born and bred players, but that'S different, and I'll tell you why: 1) England has a population of 50 million, ours is 3 million- they have a lot more to pick from. We probably only have about a 100 full time pro footballers, England has thousands. 2)due to economics factors, many Welsh people have had to leave Wales to look for work in England (especially the south east- the most prosperous region of the UK, as perpetuated by several successive British governments. Is it any wonder most of our Anglo's are from the south east? - Joniesta, Collison, Vokes, Church, Robson-Kanu etc)

You forgot number 3) That the English have always stolen from other nations, especially ours. They are the biggest thieving cunts on the planet and its in there national psyche that this is normal and acceptable.

BS Daily Mail article I'd imagine just like the one saying England were after Jonny Williams. I'd only believe it if there some actual quotes from the player himself, his agent or Liverpool to verify this. I wouldnt like to think we would be making international selections though just based on lazy tabloid speculation.
