All the chat online is that young Ben is joining Sheff Utd for the season, filling the Dai Brooks void. Exciting news and it'll be great to see another Welsh talent light up the Championship. On that note, Sky are broadcasting all midweek Championship games this season so there'll be plenty of opportunities to watch our players in action. Roll on Friday night! Every midweek game? How will that work? Red button? Yeah - there are 8 midweek round of fixtures, every fixture in each round will be available via the red button. Brilliant for exiled fans, not so good for the clubs themselves really.

Love this quote from Ben... “David Brooks is a good friend of mine and he loved it here too, he’s moved on now, maybe I’m the new David Brooks?” www.insidewalessport.co.uk/ben-woodburn-joins-sheffield-united-on-loan/

That would be an impressive jump for Brooks. He seemed to be in and out of a championship side last year, and now possibly starting the opening premiership game. I'm trying to forget some of our established players like Ashley Williams and Allen playing at Stoke and trying to focus on the Brooks' and Ampadu's instead!

Ben Woodburn became the latest Liverpool youngster to depart when he sealed a season-long loan move to Sheffield United.
The 18-year-old midfielder has a big future at Anfield but Klopp wants him to play regularly in the Championship this season. “Both sides will benefit a lot,” Klopp said. “I’ve known Ben pretty much since I came in or not long after. It was more or less Pep Lijnders’ first proposal, he said: ‘This guy at the Academy, you need to have a look.' “From the first day I was really impressed. Then he had all the highs you can have in that age group and a few of the downs as well. That’s completely normal. “Last year was a really long year for him: constantly training with us and then always going to the Academy. "I’m really happy for him that he has that now and the best news is he’s playing for Sheffield United. For two weeks he has been in fantastic shape and is the Ben Woodburn we knew from the first day, only a little bit grown up. "This is the right moment for him to go out on loan. Having minutes and full games in a difficult league and obviously a very ambitious club for next season in an offensive position will be interesting. “But it’s good for him to learn and whatever happens, he is our boy so there is no pressure for him. He can only enjoy himself in this situation, work hard, get new experiences and come back stronger.”

A lot of people were bad mouthing Klopp for the way he handled the Welsh lads, but for me this is unfair. Ben is still a really young lad, and it sounds like Klopp knew he needed the time to physically mature before taking the step up to senior football. He's nurtured him and waited for the right moment to do the best thing for Ben's career. Klopp wants the same thing as us, to see Ben develop into a top class player. This is something he has a good track record of doing, and I have no doubt Ben will make the grade at Liverpool eventually. As for Ward, he was third choice last season. Klopp probably told him he would continue as third choice this year or he could move on if he chose. Klopp hasn't stood in the way, and now Ward has made a great career move. Wilson has also been given the opportunity out on loan, and hopefully this season sees a continuation of last season's form. Ultimately, all three are really well placed in their respective careers, and Klopp is a big part of that. I think as fans sometimes we want to see instant results, and after Woodburn burst onto the scene for Wales we wanted to see him playing for Liverpool and couldn't understand why he wasn't. However, I get the impression that the time is right for him. Could be a huge season for him at Sheff United. Wilson, Woodburn and Brooks all having good seasons would give Giggs the right kind of headache.

Huddersfield wanted to resign him which would have meant he would have a full season of PL footy under his belt by now. Klopp stood in his way and didn't play him, which means his career stalled for a full year. Time will tell if the move to leicester is a good one. Kasper is still there and I can't see him not being no. 1

He's still young for a keeper, and he will get time on the pitch sooner or later.

Klopp has been more negative than positive for his development, but he does seem to really rate Woodburn and he was probably right to wait until he physically developed a bit more before sending him out on loan.

Ben on after 48 minutes v United. A few nice touches and always seems to make space for himself in the box - great positioning awareness. A brilliant assist for a sublime overhead goal from that man Shaqiri ;-)
He might only be 18, but our kid has definitely bulked up, grown up and toughened up as well. Should hold his own in the Championship, I am sure.
Agreed, he has bulked up a lot! Still seems a bit short from the level required to compete for a Liverpool spot, but more than good enough for the Championship. A loan this season would be really good for him, I just hope he doesn't have another full season on the periphery of the first team playing hardly any games I'll admit that if I didn't follow our players, I wouldn't have recognised him! I reckon he's going to be a great player once he reaches his full potential.

Ben had a full 90 minutes v Hull in the cup and even scored in the penalty shoot out.

He's taken to competitive international and domestic football like a duck to water. It takes guts to be able to score in a penalty shootout particularly in view of his tender age and relative inexperience. He's got a great career ahead of him.

Still early days but a disappointing loan so far. Started his first league game today but got subbed off at half time and the game passed him by from what I can see on twitter

Looks like Swansea being relegated has been good for wales

Mentioned on here a few weeks ago he seems to be stalling, only to be told 'he's still young' etc etc. He looked read for the international stage last year, but been lucky to make our squad this time tbh. I wouldve included Edwards instead.

The adjustment to senior football can take a while, especially to someone who is on the slighter side of the scale. Ben has bulked up a bit and he will need time to adjust to men's football. Don't forget that it took Wilson until now to be physically ready for the step up, despite his obvious talent. It may take Ben a few more years, but when he does adjust he has the skill and the talent to be a top top player.

But having followed a few Liverpool forums over the year, he's not being rated at all by the majority. He had an awful pre season apparently. Despite being the golden boy of the Liverpool academy a few years ago he has failed to live up to expectations so far.

Apparently it was another awful cameo by Woodburn in Sheffields' last match. Some pretty nasty comments on Twitter and their forum.
I know he's only 18, but most great young players go on an upward tangent.
A bit worrying as he'a not going to get a lot of chances to play the way things are going.
