He's an absolute legend, and if he gets it I hope he proves me wrong, but I think it would be a very bad move. Don't want to say anymore, as I don't want to slag him off.

I'm with you welsho- don't want to slag him because he was probably my favourite player as a kid (best British footballer of the 80's?) But I really don't see him being appointed manager as in any way a good idea.

How can Rush be classed as a leading contender? Who the hell have we got applying for the job?

Reading that blog has finished me off. What an absolute shambles the FAW is. We will go nowhere so long as those money grubbers remain in charge. We need supporters on the council, not old farts who dont care about results. They really are too pre-occupied with money to even care about success on the pitch and whats worse, unlike the manager they are not accountable to the supporters.

by the way
he has recently(ish) started the 'on a level playing field' which is basiclaly designed at raising 10million in 10 years to develop youth football
now having rush continue the on a level playing field campaign keeping flynn with the u21,u19 and u17 squads
would be a massive result for us regardless of who gets the senior's

Why not, the guy is a passionate welshman acheived everything in the game and is a respected coach.
With the right number 2 I think he could do a decent job.
Would rather him than Sanchez

If we are going to play hoofball at least let it be with someone who knows how to get results with it!!

That news has cheered me up as I was worried Jon Ford would want to go for Rush.

Has any info been released by the WFA been made as to when interviews etc. are being held and when we can expect an announcement/appointment?

They want a new manager in place for mid december. I'm guessing it would be around the same time that the England tickets go on sale.

Rush is to be interviewed. Why? Saunders is to be interviewed. Why? Apparently he didn't even apply. Hartson is to be interviewed. Why? Flynn is to be interviewed. Why? He was given his chance, rightly, but made a monumental mess of it and apparently didn't recognise his blunders even after the event. I hope they ask Flynn how long it will take for his disastrous effect on Wales' UEFA seeding to be expunged. Answer - a decade. Lagerback is bookies' favourite. I fear the FAW wil set conditions - like employ Rush/Saunders - that will cause Lagerback to turn it down and it will pass to Sanchez.

Flynn deserves an interview, at least, after his efforts in the past few years. And Hartson I'd interview - if only to assess his suitably for a possible alternative role within the underage setup. Both those guys have been clear from the start that they've wanted it and would appear to meet the minimum criteria necessary for international management (i.e. significant relevant experience or a playing career at the top level).
Saunders on the other hand, doesn't seem that keen. And is only doing OK at Wrexham. I don't think he'd be on my shortlist.
Lagerback has to be first choice though.

As it seems they monitor the board, I have a question too!
I seem to remember that from Hughes' debut in 1984, until about '87 or '88, either he or Rush scored in every game they played together- a run of about 11 or 12 matches.
Could someone tell me which match it was when this run came to an end?

I'm pretty sure Mark Hughes played a game for Bayern Munich later that day. Mad.

We lost 0-1 and it was all down to Tony Norman who was exceptional on the night. Would have had a lot more Welsh caps were it not for a Mr Southall.
