Played well yesterday against a very poor Cardiff City.
Warnock is on his last legs.

If he doesnt start we know Giggs is out of his depth.

Giggs already made a mistake not starting Ash out in Croatia, crazy decision along with starting Vaulks instead of Joniesta.
I agree, it's obvious Williams has got to start both games this month, he's still a class player and our best leader.

If Ash doesn't start against Azerbaijan, I'd say his Wales career is unfortunately over. He was IMMENSE yesterday, and if Giggs doesn't think he's better than one of 1) Unfit Mepham or 2) Lockyer then he'll never get a look in again, once Rodon is back. GOT. TO. START! Agree. Completely.

Did anyone else notice him unable to bring himself to join in the celebrations? and Ben Davies going 'come on mate' </3 he has been let down. That'll be it now, probably. Hopefully he stays part of the squad for the euros, but it's clear that he's not part of Ryan's plans.

Why let down? get the point that he'll be upset and Giggs has other plans - but we're in the Euros with young centre backs (Rodon, Mepham, Lockyer) playing who will hopefully be the bedrock of our squads for years.
Williams has the right to be disappointed and still has a place in our team - but he was not let down

In September Giggs said "Ash is still part of my plans but Rodon, Mepham are playing so it's only fair that they play"... "Only fair" Ash deserved to play these games, he's in good club form and Mepham hasn't played for Bournemouth since September. He is also a better defender than Lockyer. Ok Giggs made his decision, but he should be clearer in his communication imo. This is something he needs to improve.

Its always of interest seeing squad players reactions, the one who appeared not to be full of joy was Vokes .

We have got two (arguably better) central defenders to come back. Just hope that Giggs gives Williams the opportunity to play a friendly before the Euros so that the fans can at least show our appreciation to him one last time.

He loves Wales so much, I didn't like seeing him hurt like that. Maybe some friendlies could yet convince Giggs that he's worthy of being in the squad for the Euros, time will tell.

I think Giggs prefers Mepham and didnt think Lockyer deserved dropping - nothing controversial about that.

I didnβt like seeing Ash not getting involved in the celebrations either, he clearly isnβt happy with the circumstances. The only sour note on a fantastic night. Shame if this is how his international career ends, especially considering heβs been dropped for Lockyer - who really hasnβt looked comfortable imo, looked shaky again last night.
I actually donβt think heβll be on the plane next summer, but if it is the end, then a βtestimonialβ esque friendly should happen during the March games.

I realise I'm talking more with my emotions than with my head regarding this.

He did look cut off from the squad last night - he wasnβt part of the celebration. That alone suggests to me that he is very unlikely to be in the squad.
You need a squad that is 100% together and watching each otherβs backs, Having been the main man for so long Iβm not sure Ash is likely to be happy in a supporting role.
All good things inevitably come to an end.

You'd be gutted if you were him.
Without a club so understandably not selected.
But he's worked so hard to get back to a good level, he's been in great form. Loves Wales.
Shame he didn't take part in the celebrations as much as the rest.

I'm not sure Chester will return to international football, so for me, Ash is next after Rodon and Mepham. With Lockyer fourth.

Shame he didn't take part in the celebrations as much as the rest. It is a shame, I wonder if Ash being Coleman's captain has anything to do with it? Also he's a strong character, and perhaps Giggs wants his own younger selection in the team, that he can mould to his system of play. I hope he gets an opportunity to wear a Wales shirt again. Just a thought.

Got a feeling Ash is not going to make it unless injury crisis. If James Chester and Rodon are fit. Iβm not sure with the other guys that played in our last two games that Ash makes it.

Lockyer is only 24 and has close to 300 senior games - Ash was still playing in Stockport at that age. From the FAW's comments they already have one eye on the WC and Rodon, Mepham, Lockyer and maybe Cabango are the future.

So I think the plan is to trust the younger crop, and therefore Ash's current role in the squad is to be backup in case of an injury crisis.

I hope Rodon will be available in the summer, not sure I fancy Lockyer to face the likes of Italy or Belgium, but I might be being a bit harsh on him. I thought he passed the ball well, but yet to see him truly tested by the best in the world. If we were playing Italy tomorrow and everyone was fit, I'd choose Chester and Williams ahead of Lockyer and Mepham without any doubt. Rodon edges it over Ash for me these days (sob)

I think Ash's experience has to put him above James Lawrence in the pecking order.
Whether he's ahead of Lockyer or not I think will be determined by the rest of the season. I know we're looking towards the future, but Lockyer isn't necessarily that given that both Rodon and Mepham are younger than him and playing at a higher level.
Rodon's expected to return in January by the way, so should be fine for the Euros.

I really hope that the World Cup campaign isn't playing a significant part in selection considerations now. There's no time like the present, and it would be insane to pass up the opportunity to do well in the Euro finals for an imagined tiny advantage (in terms of extra experience) in playing a younger, but inferior team. Perhaps we're reading too much into Ford's comments. I sincerely hope so.

Ash is what Kompany was for City and Belgium, leader, quality, leaves everything on the pitch, as he showed in his MOTM performance away to Ireland. I think you've got to take him to the euros, if Rodon or Mepham pick up an injury, I would want Ash to step in.
