Though Swansea's possesion and pressing tactics help the players mentioned the undeniable fact of the matter is their Welsh players (and almost Welsh players) are very good and suited to the international game. Most criticism of Williams stemmed from the fact he's part English and played for Swansea. It had nothing to do with his ability

True. When he was in the Championship I likened him to Gabbidon - which was widely ridiculed. Truth is Williams has now surpassed Gabbidon in his prime. Shame about all the injuries, because otherwise I reckon a Gabbidon Williams partnership would have been formidable, and well suited to the continental game plan.

The Gabbidon of 2005, who nearly won the FA cup with WHU, alongside Williams would have been awesome. Such a shame he seems past it now.

Yeah, Gabbidon is done. Can't see him making a contribution at QPR now that they've stayed in the epl. Would another epl side take him on? Doubtful.

yeah, my mistake. It was 2006, but he played alongside Anton Ferdinand that season. Collins didn't make an impact at WHU until later.

I would personally hope he'd stay at Swansea as long as they remain in the Premiership, but Newcastle are a bigger club and have European football, and could offer him more money. I wouldn't blame him for moving.

He's Captain of Wales! ...What a performance from him against Man.Utd today, and what a legend for kicking that ball into RVP's head.

Swansea's performances against the so-called top 4 should be what is gettibg coverage tonight. Not the petty drama that is

Kicking fans in the stands and studs up tackles are very dangerous as well.
Not forgotten the elbows by Rooney etc.
If that had happened in a rugby game or Man U won nothing would have been said...

He is only interested in them. I await the raid for Williams, that's been mentioned from last May when Rodgers quit for Liverpool. Then, he'll return for Neil Taylor if not Ben Davies.

If Swansea beat Bradford in Sunday they'll be in the Europa league. Liverpool might struggle to make Europe next season. This will probably have a bearing on whether Ash moves in the summer. Or maybe he'll be off to FC Cluj, storm?

If Ashley wants to move to Newcastle to double / treble his wages, I'd have no problems with that. But given his status as captain, I would ideally like to see him playing for a Welsh club.

He would have to be mad. Arsenal fans expect nothing less than big name signings these days- if he goes there and has a few bad games the knives will soon be out. Mind you Laudrup is probably hoping he goes as he has a contacts list as long as your arm of centre backs playing in La Liga who would cost a fraction of Williams wage......... ......... ;D

Arsenal seem to have a record of turning good defenders bad these days - Mertesacker has been a long serving player in a good German team, for example.
It'll be interesting to see if/where he goes.

I was speaking to a very knowledgable Arsenal supporter on Saturday and he was all for it. I think we underestimate just how rated and respected Ashley is outside of Wales.
Of course, as a Swansea supporter, I want him to stay. A great player and top role model for young people.

I do not agree with that. It is one of his strengths, especially the longer pass.

A great move and opportunity for him, goes to show that you can work your way to the top.
Hopefully he will start well and keep his place in the team
