If you watch the Euro 2016 games back, Taylor and Gunter's contribution going forward was actually very good,crossing was decent etc. The insurance of having 3 center halves allowed them to venture forward a bit more I suppose, whereas they're not as good going forward when in a back 4 (Gunter more than Taylor)... I guess Roberts and Davies are clearly the better balanced full backs for a back 4. At least we're not lacking in choice, with Jazz, Fox, Matthews and others in line too. Can you imagine what Roberts and Davies could have done at full back in Euro 16 with 3 centre halves inside them... I agree that Gunter and Taylor had a generally good tournament but I reckon these two playing would have equated to us scoring more goals |

If Davies had been playing full back (wing back really) he wouldn't have made that stop on the line against Slovakia.

I love the fact that Gunter as to work his arse off if he wants 100 caps. I’ll give credit to Giggs for that one. Get the feeling if Cookie was still there Gunter would have already crossed the line

Only saw the last 25' of the game (after Smith came on) but Gunts had a fantastic last-ditch tackle in those final minutes, as well as an instinctive clearance from a rebound off the crossbar.
Looks like we have our Christopher back!

Its good that Gunter is now pushing Roberts and I can see it being a close call in the summer. He can also cover left back.
I would take 4 full backs
Gunter
Roberts
Davies
Fox (if he does well in friendlies)
Davies can also cover at centre half.
Dont think Chester will get enough games and might be too much of a risk

Jazz has started one game in about 18 months. Yes and there are 6 months until the Euros. When fit, he is a very capable player. What makes you pick Fox over Taylor? Fox is yet to feature at all under Giggs, and has hardly been called up. This at a time Giggs has taken a look at a lot of players. |
