I don't like this move to be honest. They have a lot of 20-25 year old defenders who are very good u21 internationals/full internationals who are either on loan or on the bench. These players like Ake, Zouma etc will all be in front of him for years.

They have just sold Ake. It's what they do. They develop them and then flip them to clubs for profit. Even do that with the likes of De Bruyne

Yeah agree its another one on their harvesting list. He will never where a Chelsea shirt, will be loaned out for 4 years, then sold to a Championship club. They only do it to meet the FFP rules. They would make massive losses season on season otherwise.

He's still so young so the question is has he gone to a good club to develop? The answer is hopefully yes, but I always get nervous when young kids go to these massive clubs. They earn a lot of money at a young age and the desire to improve, be the best etc, can sometimes get lost under £50 notes.

I dont think he is at the best club to develop - they will have minimal input in his development. He will be loaned out then shipped out. He would be better off at Liverpool, Arsenal or United if going to a top club, clubs that bring through young talent.

Ampadu will very probably be loaned out - either to a Championship club (perhaps League One at first) or to Vitesse, who are part of the Chelsea "family". I see no reason to think that Ampadu will be disadvantaged by this move. If he's good enough he will end up at a Premier League club, if not Chelsea. This is a move to be welcomed - as it demonstrates that it's not just the Welsh setup that sees him as something special.

I agree that it is great to see Ampadu being recognised as a talent worthy of joining a big club, i just disagree that i think its the best club for his development. He will be loaned out and never play a game for Chelsea. That cannot be right, bringing players into your club purely as a money making tool.

I'm more worried about whether the switch to Chelsea will also mean a switch to England

I'm more worried about whether the switch to Chelsea will also mean a switch to England Well it puts him on their radar, but if he feels he is Welsh and wants the best chance of playing international football, he will play for Wales. If he believes he is English, then on yer bike son..

I see a lot of people are complaining about Chelsea's loan system, but you have to remember that they bought Courtois as a youngster and loaned him out to Athletico Madrid for 3 years. He became much better, became their No 1, then went back to Chelsea and did the same. So potentially the same thing could happen to Ampadu.

Well that's tat then you found one example, out of how many players that they have sent out on loan. Ampadu will benefit from some great coaching and will become a better player, he will then win a youth cup or two before a loan to a championship club, followed by further loans possibly abroad or in the premiership before being sold. On the optimistic side maybe he will be such a great player he will be in the first team at 17, then watch England and their media squealing

What are the odds he plays at least one game for Watford during his career?

Glowing praise indeed here: www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ben-woodburn-makes-headlines-its-13579032If he's really as good as is made out - could he play alongside Allen second half against Georgia if we're struggling? A bit of a gamble - but I'm not confident that any one of Ledley, King or Edwards - solid though they are defensively, have what it takes to help us unlock opposition defences. Coleman made a big call in bringing Woodburn on in both the last two games and it paid off big time. Perhaps he could take things one step further. A huge risk - but we're now we simply have to win and such a gamble might well be merited.

Ampadu at just 16 has played every minute of Chelsea's Premier League 2 (under 23's) campaign this season and has been nominated for PL2 player of the month for August

Barring the last night's game and Saturday's win over Austria, Coleman hasn't gambled enough in the other six games. Putting on Ampadu could help us get a massive result if the game is tight. However, pleasing to see how highly the players rate him already being JUST 16!

If Cookie decides to opt for a midfield trio, is it worth looking at getting him in the side? He looks to have far more ability than the likes of Edwards and Ledley surely won't be fit enough.
Nice to see Chelsea fielding him in midfield. It was looking as though we may struggle in that position in the future.
