The assist was brilliant, even if Bamford was inexplicably given the freedom of Peterborough to bring it down, swivel and volley!

After playing the last 3 games as the Leeds captain, he has certainly shown some leadership qualities. He was driving the team forward during the last 15 minutes yesterday, when it looked like they were never going to score a winning goal. In previous games they might have dropped the points, but the urgency he injected into the team paid off. When Leeds are on form they are a wonderful team to watch, but on other occasions you just know they are never going to get it together. If Farke can sort out their inconsistencies, especially their away form, then I think they will have a good chance of going up this year.

Back in midfield for today's game

Back in midfield for today's game I hope Leeds get promoted, as he is too good for the Championship, and he's not really being tested at this level. He also needs to stay in midfield, so he can dictate play from the DM position, and it also allows him to drop into a back 3 during games when required.

I think Ampadu deservers a mention for his performance against Leicester City last night. While Rodon was showing a few signs of tension, Amps was unflappable, and the way he drove into the heart of the Leicester team from CB during the final 10+ minutes was incredible.
His move to Leeds didn't convince me at first, but it's now looking like a masterstroke. There was interest from Serie A, The Premier League and elsewhere, but he chose a club where the manager believed in him. He took the iconic No.4 jersey that was was worn by Billy Bremner, and he soon replicated Bremner's feat of captaining the side at age 23. The fans love him and he is the first name on the team sheet, and he has played the most minutes of any Leeds player this season.
Ampadu was always a man with a mission, he just needed the right vehicle to achieve his dreams. He willingly took loans to unfashionable clubs and he gave his all, gaining the fans respect in the process, but the move to Leeds has now put him in the driving seat. Instead of being a squad player elsewhere, he is now the main man, and the heartbeat of a side that has big plans, and wealthy backers with expertise in building successful sports teams.
Next up is a return visit to Stamford Bridge, and a chance to show the Chelsea faithful what they will be missing out on.

I would much prefer him to have a rest, rather than play against Chelsea.

I would much prefer him to have a rest, rather than play against Chelsea. Their workloads are managed, whether during games or on the training pitch, and everybody get's the required rest and recovery that they need. If he does need more rest then he won't play, but surely he deserves the opportunity to captain his new team at his old club? I'd be more worried about Mepham, and to a lesser extent Davies, who are not getting the required minutes to prepare them for the playoff games. Ampadu is also pretty indestructible, and actually playing regularly is making him a better player.

I'd love Ethan to boss it against Chelsea I can't see Enzo & Caicedo being £215m better than Ampadu.

I'd love Ethan to boss it against Chelsea I can't see Enzo & Caicedo being £215m better than Ampadu. No, Chelsea have splashed nearly a billion pounds on signing "young high potential players" when they already had many impressive academy players like Ampadu, Mount, Gilmour, Tomori, Guehi, Livramento, Abraham. None of the players they signed are improvements on these players, so it's just been an expensive exercise in achieving nothing. I do think those academy players would have given more than the replacements too, so I think arguably they'd be in a better position if they'd kept the academy players

Ampadu in midfield vs Chelsea. Roberts, Rodon & James starting too.

Solid performance from Amps tonight. As good as anything in the Chelsea midfield. Rodon decent too. Dan James and Connor Roberts, not so much. Not convinced that Connor, in particular, is worthy of a starting berth against Finland.

Ampadu moved to a club bouncing between Championship and Premier League for the potential of stability and to develop in one position.
It's nice to see him continue to develop as a leader and put in a series of really good performances but he's currently playing LCB.
LCB is what, his fourth best position?
He's still a young man and I am hoping continuing to experience different positions helps him at the traditional defensive peak of ages 28-34, but you can scroll back a few pages and see an interview where he initially joined Leeds to settle in one position and Farke was telling him how he could develop as a CM player. Arguably Billy Gilmour is ahead of Ampadu currently only because Gilmour plays one position well and it's easier to see what he can offer.
It's silly to worry when one of our players is playing regularly and playing really well at relatively high level, but still think there's a question to ask about why plans have changed so dramatically and pros/cons of this longer term.
Could it be that Leeds United get promoted and starting CM combination is Ampadu and Gray despite neither currently playing CM?

He's working on his left foot to become the complete modern day footballer, and Gray is learning the defensive side of the game, which is essential for a top class midfielder. Him and Archie are going to smash it in the Premier League next season Ok, that may not be entirely true, but they just happen to be better than everybody else in at least two different positions and Farke is thinking outside of the box. It seems to be working considering the unbeaten run they've been on since Jan 1st, which has delivered 34 points from a possible 36.

Gilmour not on Amps level. The main reason he is playing center half is simply because struijk is injured.

And that Ampadu was playing as a regular CB, not an LCB in a back 3.

If Page disrupted the midfield combination to accommodate Ramsey in a defensive midfield role then following the loss he should be sacked on the spot
I do not expect him to be that stupid ..... I am just saying!
