The lad is obviously valued at Chelsea (which is a rarity for any youngster there)!

I am amazed. He is extremely talented but a little bit raw. I hope he does not develop much more over the next three months otherwise England will come after him all guns blazing ahead of the world cup! Wish we had capped him in the qualifiers even if it was just for a few mins!
Good on Conte

Wish we had capped him in the qualifiers even if it was just for a few mins! Good on Conte Agree. Full of confidence and raw talent. Seems to command a lot of respect from his team mates. Sees a lot of the ball and pulling the strings from the back. Directing all the players around him, and constantly waving his hands in the air. Was kept very busy in the second half, but kept his cool and stood solid in the middle of the back three. Really promising. I will be super surprised if he doesn't come on in the PL in the next couple of months. Can't see him going on loan at all - really too good and can only benefit from being in and around the squad

Good article. I was hoping he might join the Arsenal, especially as his dad is a coach there and we have a great youth policy, but - huge kudos to the lad - he wanted to follow his dream team and its looking like is going to do well, even in blue ;-) Fantastic that he mentioned our national team as well in the same sentiment.

Love the guy He told Chelsea's official website: 'When I was speaking to Chelsea, everything seemed good, everything seemed that I would develop as a player which is what I want to do, I want to be a better player so I can play for Chelsea. Speaking with the club, it seemed right, a gut feeling. 'You dream of making debuts for Wales and for Chelsea and moving to Chelsea in the summer, the team I supported as a kid, they are like dreams come true.

This lad will be a regular starter for Wales this time next year. Only 17!
Midfield trio of Allen, Ampadu with Ramsey in front is mouth watering. Even if we stuck to a 5 at the back, shift Davies to the left and put Ampadu in the defensive 3.

I think he must be a starter from now on
For me it would be at centre half so Davies can play left back (don't rate Taylor)
Think he will then move into centre midfield to replace Ledley

After starting v Everton and Bournemouth in the League Cup, I wonder if he will start v Arsenal in the semis? Let's hope so. At the least you'd expect him to start v Norwich in the FA Cup a few days before the first leg.

Is he potentially our best defender AND midfielder? He is certainly a great defensive midfielder. Might need to have a word with Lawrence to see how he managed to cultivate his newly found Zen calmness :+)

Even if we stuck to a 5 at the back, shift Davies to the left and put Ampadu in the defensive 3. It is very exciting. The China Cup should be the place to start experimenting and giving the likes of Ampadu some serious game time. My thoughts are that even if we experience further disappointments along the way (as we did during the WCQ), it will be finally worth it to establish a great, progressive attacking-minded style of football. It's crucial to get Ampadu and co familiar with the current set-up. I hope our new manager takes full advantage of the opportunities that the China Cup and the May/ June friendlies have to offer!
