Potentially we could have another really talented side providing all these players kick on and maintain their trajectory/move to a bigger club. With Bale, Ramsey and Allen around 30, just on the other side of the peak our team could look like this in around 3/4 years time heading towards 2020 qualification:
Roberts Burns
Wilson Allen (C) Ramsey Bale
Fox Poole Ampadu G. Jones
Ward
Nice blend of youth and experience and plenty of width. I would like to see Fox and G Jones kick on and move to the prem and get in the first team respectively. Getting ahead of myself here but hey ho, I am optimistic that most of these will 'make it'. I have seen to much of Gethin Jones but I hear he has been made the captain for the new U23 league or Premier League 2 whatever it is called. As for Fox Man Utd and W ham have bid or at least enquired so he must have potential. I am not sure where Ben Woodburn plays (C Mid/Att mid?) so have left him of this team sheet.
Maybe I will revisit this in a few years and draw comparisons.

Lol at that back 4.....
Ben Davies will be 27, James Chester 31, Neil Taylor 31, Paul Dummett 28, Jazz 29, I could add more.
Gethin Jones? For starters Connor Roberts is the same age and played just under 50 more senior games at the same level (league 2).

I love little Jonny as much as everyone else but I have a sneaky feeling that others may overtake him if he doesn't kick on soon.

But the point is unless they are going to be better players than B Davies, Chester etc (which i doubt very much) i don't see how getting ahead would work?

I don't think Fox is ever going to be big player but Ampadu and Poole yes. What about DaSilva?

I promise I'm not trying to be a killjoy but England did this in 2007 and that didn't work out to well. Who knows we may get 3/4 'Gareth Bale's' .

Whatever happened to Tarw Sheet? Goes to show you can't guarantee a good youth player will make the grade.

Yeh take your point, particularly Davies, J Williams and G Williams who are still young. The two Williams' boys need to either move permanently or have a great loan move and then put themselves in the shop window.

The truth is it is pretty impossible to predict who will go on to have a great career and who will fall by the way side, even if you can see clear talent. When I saw James Collins at CF for Cardiff I never thought I'd be watching him in the Euro's and playing PL football and I certainly wouldn't have put him in one of these. Leon Jeanne on the other hand 'yes' and there in lies the problem.

''getting ahead'' meant getting over excited at the prospect of seeing one of these kids playing in the first team. The fact that I put a caveat on my post shows that I realised it may actually take a while to bed them in. As for better players, it wouldn't shock me if either of these kids overtook Chester in terms of ability.

Gunter would only be 30 and could have a 100 caps by then.
Maybe we should look at a potential side for 2024

Thanks for that Quetzal. I did promise to draw comparisons two years in the future but unfortunately 3 of those may never get full caps so misfired on a few there. However Wilson, Roberts, Ampadu all playing wasn't a bad shout!

Fox and Jones!!! hmmm not impressed with that call. Poole could yet get in but he's been overtaken by Rodon and Mepham. I've heard nothing but bad things about Fox. I read some of the Sheffield Wednesday posts and most of them said he's conference/L2 standard. They have no reason to be biased against him either.

Not a bad effort, my namesake's had a bit of a mare with that list
Wes Burns is a strange one, every time I've seen him he seems to have something but the stats don't bear that out
