Stats for Ireland were what and How many travelled ? I'd say 700 max from what I could see. We filled the stand behind the goal and there were other Irish fans at the side behind the dugouts. The Scots and Welsh seem to outnumber us for aways qualifiers. Scotland always did and I'd say there has been a sharp upturn in Welsh away support given the success of the last couple of years. Lol I know how many of us were there, I believe I did have a beer with you in The Dubliner or maybe it was the airport. That was before became persona non grata on Ybig Was asking in context of how many Welsh fans saying definitely going to Dublin and and how many actually went, as Dublin a bit nore convenient than down town Chisinau and it was 3000 out of 5500 then assume even less for Moldova.

For the game in Dublin we sold out our allocation with many more watching it in the pub in Dublin. We will easily sell our allocation for Moldova and fill the away end same as we have as done at every away game this campaign

I think young OD is just toying with us, as he surely knows that we sold our 3500 allocation for Dublin and that there were at least 700 or even 800 watching the match at the Hanger. I'd say 5k in Dublin that weekend

I kept hearing 5500-6000 had expressed a definite interest in FAW survey, if 70% travelled on what is easier to get to then would assume that 50% would be the travelling contingent when going to places that are more costly and a bugger to get to.

I will be shocked if we don't take 1500 to Chisinau. If we won in Belgrade, we could have been looking for over 2k out there - Tuesday first week of School or not! Tbilisi is another story. If we beat Austria at home and Moldova away (both possible, but by no means a given) - I can imagine 2k minimum out there. If results don't go our way, we will be back to our core support of 700 (possibly 1k). The 5k in Dublin. And there were at least that, is nothing to do with our core away support. And you know that...

I will be surprised if the Moldovans dont give us as many tickets as we ask for - circa 1500 to 1800 perhaps? Anyway, I am 100% certain that you can buy tickets online up until match day, pay 100 lei and get a ticket in the gallery overlooking the away block. Tickets are bar-coded and you can either print them out from a pdf or use it on your smart phone

LEARN RUSSIANAfter the statement of intent in Belgrade, I am now more confident than ever that we will be be needing to speak Russian next Summer ;-) Notwithstanding that, you should find that most people over 30 years-old in Chisinau and Tbilisi will speak decent Russian. People over 50 are likely to be fluent in it. A great free tool to learning most languages is Duo Lingo. You set your standard and pace and it does the rest. A fantastic tool is their Tiny Cards - Flash Cards. A little repetitive, but a great visual way to study. www.duolingo.com/course/ru/en/Learn-Russian-Online Na Zdaroviya!

I thought Moldovans had a dislike to Russia? That is a valid point and I fully intend to learn 40 or 50 words of Romanian - I am sure it will be appreciated. Nonetheless, the way I see it, they will soon realise that you are not a Russian native and will appreciate the diversity and opportunity that an enhanced vocabulary gives. The people of this area rarely want to chit-chat about football, and they soon tire of Ryan Giggs and Dean Saunders. It is often deep and meaningful discussions about minors striking, environmental concerns and all the politics you can stomach. I'd say that the Ukrainians, Georgians and Armenians have much more dislike towards the Russians than the Moldovans.

Anyone know what average costs of food and local beer is etc. Not much on trip advisor and other travel sites apart from it's a lot more expensive in Chisinau than the rest of the country which you would expect.

Was over their last October for our game against them and can say it's extremely cheap place when you are there. I think I might of spent around €150 on food and drink for the 3 days I was there and alot of the time we spent in the beer house which is a brewery bar and dearer than other local bars and was still paying less than €2 a pint. Can get a steak dinner in alot of places for under €5

That sounds like my kind of place. What's the name of the Brewery bar.
Also is there anywhere to buy presents for the wife and kids (part of my conditions for being allowed to go :-) )? Or should I wait until I get to the airport?

Beer in there was nice too As for the presents I can't really help you there as brought nothing back with me but know others got small gifts at local street markets that were held over the weekend

I missed out on a Partizan Belgrade shirt whilst in Serbia so a Dinamo Tbilisi equivalent is an essential purchase this time round.

I'm not too bothered to be honest. I've not worn my Stockholm's Hammarby shirt more than about three times.
RE: Moldova thread. Blame the time of day.

Most people on here have been to quite a few away games, so are not as impressed as the average person down your local.
Wales Away - It's what we do.
