You always get that with Irish bars for some reason. I can understand when they import Heineken and Guinness but there's no excuse to overcharge for local brews. Naughty.
I'll only be there for a bit of the Gol party, keeping it local for the rest of my stay. Especially at the prices you quote.

...will you be watching him in action against West Brom at 2300 tonight? Talking of which, have you spotted any good bars that are likely to be showing the Austria Serbia game after our match? Kick off will be 22.45 local time. On top of this, is there a possibility that any bar will show the televised Wrexham v Eastleigh game on the Saturday at 20:30 local time manulike ? Anywhere with an equivalent of BT Sports will have it.

I plan to end this evening at the Marriott and see if I can catch the Arsenal there. Will keep an eye out, but as I said, football is really not that popular here. In last ten days I saw one single lad wearing a Rinaldo shirt and no where at all selling replica shirts...

The Hangar is where Gol are having their pre-match party...the overpriced drinks doesn't bode well! If you spot any good sports bar with big screens, let us know. I'll be doing a reccy when I'm there next Wednesday as well. over priced drinks? ran a tab every night, first night 6 of us food and drink and change from €100 for the night, second night change from €100 and included 3 bottles of vodka, mixers and a hell of a lot of pints before we touched the vodka

For the first time on this entire trip, I got dragged last night to the local Irish bar - The Hanger. Not for me... overpriced food and drink. They have a small Marquee tent outside along the small cobbled stone alley. The TV was about 35 to 40 inch max. There was another small TV inside... Yes. It showed Italian football... I'd much rather take the fan bus back to the Marriot Hotel and watch the match with Lucy and Mathew at the hotel bar... That said, I have absolutely never been to a country that has less interest in football, than Georgia! Been to tiny villages in outer Mongolia, and Hill tribes in Cambodia. Desert settlements in Namibia... all had satellite dishes and always show footy... Funny the place was rammed for the All Ireland Hurling final, and a number of 42" screens and a much bigger screen probably 6'f wide and 9' high. Did you ask Rebecca about big screens, as you say the locals have no interest in football, they also showed the League of Ireland games for us. Ask and she will oblige.

From what I can see, they have a club shop at the stadium. I'll attempt to go on the Thursday.
How's the weather in general? Have you been getting your legs out?

I can testify to that fact as Greenforever was in front of me sitting is some dodgy chair. They have a big screen projector and will happily put it on if asked. Cost wise for food it was cheap and good.

Don't ask! Ever since Chisinau it's been a gorgeous 28c to 32c, with occasional freak super hot days. Today it's very overcast and set to only reach 22c, dropping like a stone tomorrow and through to Saturday with heavy rain and max. Temp of 14c :+( Plan to explore the local Sulphur bath houses.
Oh, the pain of being a Welsh supporter ...

There is a Dinamo Tbilisi shop in the stadium and it was certainly open until 7pm on Friday (day before our game). It was really expensive by local standards. It had a large range of stock. You can certainly get jerseys, pin badges, pennants etc. I don't recall the price of a jersey.

Desert settlements in Namibia... all had satellite dishes and always show footy... Things must be changed dramatically since we were over there at start of the month as didn't find the price of good and drink in it to be much different from the prices was paying in any of the local places maybe a few cent dearer but not to the extent you make out (I'd be amazed if drink in the Marriott hotel be much cheaper in fact) As for the sport a simple word with the owner and she will arrange anything for you. Watched numerous games over their (league of Ireland, numerous other qualifiers including your game with Austria and the all Ireland hurling final) owner is very accommodating with things like this and she also let fans store luggage in upstairs etc

Having looked around, I'd probably say that the Hanger is the safest bet to catch the Serbia game. If it's too busy, Then walk down hill / South, towards Meidan and there are trendy bars/ restaurants with one or two 32' screens. I checked the Marriott out last night, they only have two x 21' screens... so I didn't even bother. I also checked out the huge Shangri-la Casino - one solitary small tv...
I understand that the difference between paying 50 lari and paying 25 lari for an entire evening is not huge if you are only staying 3 days ... but I am here for 5 weeks :+)
By the way, the exchange rate has been 3.32 to the pound and just under 3 to the Euro for the last 2 weeks. If anything, the pound is steadily gaining :+)

Pinn Hotel is about 50 metres from me. Looks like a classic Thai Massage come brothel. If you have booked a private room, you should be grand. If it's a dorm room, let me know how many beds, and I'll happily check it out for you
By the way, just for you naive and unassuming lads out there... Thai massage (at a cost of 60 or 70 lari an hour) is MORE than just massage... If you want a deep tissue massage, the local banya / baths have 30 minutes for 10 lari + 3 lari entrance to the sulphur pool and dry sauna cabin etc.
