Are people aware - Wizz now selling Luton to Kutaisi flights direct. Just got one back on Sunday Oct 8 for about £70. Wizz site says route is subject to regulatory approval but Wizz bigwigs are already announcing it as a new route for them Good on ya, Ade! That Sunday 6pm return is so much more tempting than my current 8am bus ride on the Saturday morning from Tbilisi to Kutaisi ... I just hope that I am not the only Welshman on the early morning bus...

RED ALERT - WIZZ AIR CANCELLED ROUTE SOFIA - KUTAISI
Totally stumbled across this by chance, as I was searching for the GeorgiaBus connection to Kutaisi airport, but Wizz Air have officially SCRAPPED the Sofia to Kutaisi flight as of 16 February ... there was no email, nor even an apology when calling them ...
Anyway, if you have a Sofia-Kutaisi-Sofia flight, you can either: 1/. get 120% credit towards another flight 2/. get 100% refund back on your credit card 3/. make another reservation
As their customer Service number is a 03 number, it will be included from any mobile inclusive minutes plan, or will cost a standard geographical call from a landline: 0330 977 0444
Personally, I have now switched to the Kutaisi to Luton on Sunday - so I hope someone on the flight might be heading to Cardiff ... and might give me a lift ;-)
PS. My apologies if my banging on about this Kutaisi-Sofia-Bristol option causes an inconvenience, but their 120% refund and then booking the Kutaisi-Luton (£58+£8 for Ryan Air size cabin bag) has actually saved me about £40 and given me an extra day in Georgia to celebrate ;-) I imagine most of that £40 will go on a train ticket back to Cardiff, though...

Just came across this. Pegasus out of Stansted on the wed and back Sunday via Istanbul is less than £ 200. Only slight draw back the flights arrive at 1.45 am and leave at 4.30 am. Its a long way for less than £ 200 return though.

Good luck to you guys. We booked a few years ago to Lviv and they cancelled the route. Went round in circles trying to get money from them - Call Romania, Hungary, Romania, UK.. useless. I think 3/15 managed to get money back after getting a translation into Hungarian!
I use Wizz frequently and they have 0 customer service but if you treat it like a bus service, it's ok most of the time. In flight magazine has had some good stuff about Georgia recently.

It will be hard to beat the value of the Sunday return flight from Kutaisi to Luton - £63 or so and great times!
Going out, the Luton flight arrives to Kutaisi in the wee hours, so you will be arriving to Tbilisi, very early on match day.
If you have more time, and can fly out from MANCHESTER: Easy Jet Man to Thessaloniki on Monday for £45 Wizz Air Thessaloniki on Tuesday arrives to Kutaisi at mid-day for £15

I'm booked into Hotel Frida just across from the bridge of peace. Really looking forward to this trip!

Not entirely sure if prices are still correct ... but this was my post about five weeks ago:
EXCELLENT OPTION out of CARDIFF (£160 return):
Depart MONDAY 2 Oct at 0945 with Flybe to Milan arrive 1245 - £44 Connect in Milan at 1805 with Wizzair to KUTAISI arrive 2355 - £53 Total Time: ONLY 11h
OR, OUT of BIRMINGHAM (£140 return):
Dept TUESDAY 3 Oct at 0830 with Wizzair to WARSAW arrive 1150 - £36 Connect in Warsaw at 1605 with Wizzair to KUTAISI arrive 2125 - £41 Total Time: ONLY 10h
OR, OUT of LONDON Stansted (£126 return) - BUT ALSO CHECK NEW LUTON-KUTAISI ROUTE:
Dept TUESDAY 3 Oct at 1320 with PEGASUS Via Istanbul TO TBILISI - Arriving 0145am for only €86 Fly Back to Stansted on Saturday Departing Tbilisi 4am for €86
COMING BACK ON SUNDAY at 4PM KUTAISI TO LUTON for £63
With all due respect to Aegean, Ukrainian and Turkish Air, the combinations above are MUCH shorter in actual travel time, as well as quite a bit cheaper.

New to the forum, great content of what ive read so far. Ive just booked a hotel just over the river from the old town, around 10 mins walk from MacLarens Irish Bar. Am I right in saying the Irish Bar area is the best area for food and pubs? Metekhi's Galavani Hotel www.booking.com/Share-zVBHXYThe hotel has 24 hour reception which is ideal for the early morning arriving flights from London. At £50 each for 4 nights including breakfast between 6 of us I find it quite reasonable.

Without wishing to offend our cousins from the Emerald isle, the Irish bar in Tbilisi is the LAST place I would visit! The local Georgian wine and cognac/brandy are gorgeous and super cheap. The local food is probably the best on the planet (haven't been everywhere, but have been to 85 other countries...). RE: Hotel location. As close to the river as possible, or between the West Bank/Zion Cathedral and Freedom Square. Note that Tbilisi is extremely hilly - so even being 1km away from the river will mean walking up very steep hills...

The hotel I booked is just over the river from Zion Cathedral, right next to the Metekhi Cathedral. Looking forward to the local drinks & cuisine. Are a few fans staying until Sunday, making the most of the gap between Georgia & Ireland match? Were flying from Stansted Wednesday lunchtime to Tblisi via Istanbul and return Sunday same route for £200.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39352133This is something to keep an eye on as means if transit via Turkey then iPad, laptop etc would have to be given as gifts to the people who put the bags into the hold. Might as F*****g well just hand it to them directly as they will nick them anyway from you bags.
