The reality is Man Utd will always be a dream move for a 21 year old, playing in the second tier. If that call comes you go, as 99% of the time the second call doesn't come. Even if it doesn't work out he can say 'I went to utd for 15 million' when he hangs up his boots. The chance has to be taken with both hands.

I agree, but I still think there's a good chance it will be bad for us. He will more than likely go through a season or two of being in and out of the team, before probably not making the grade. Next thing you know, he's 23 and hasn't developed since his breakthrough season at 21.

Swansea could probably sign George Williams Gwion Edwards Jonny Williams All for well under 15 mill? And Danny Ward on loan If those three players cost anywhere near 15mil they will have been robbed! They could get those 3 for 1.5mil, but only Jonny has shown he's good enough for champ level when fit, unless of course the injuries have taken its toll on his ability Gwion Edwards had similar amount of goals and assists to Dan James this season, and that was for a struggling Ipswich side! Reckon it'd cost them 3 or 4 mill to get all 3. They could do a lot worse... maybe league 1 is a better step up for George Williams atm though.

It's a crap deal for all parties. He hasn't shown himself to be good enough at that level, and Man U have a host of youngsters that are breaking through and expected to do big things - mason greenwood, chong, Angel Gomes etc. Why not just trust in them? they're all younger than james and, if given the chance, might be just as good. My fear is that james moves, struggles, other youngsters do well and then he's behind a host of players younger than him, thus disrupting his development. He would do well to go to a mid/lower prem side with a progressive manager that can continue to develop his game. Sounds like a good fit for Brighton actually United's academy teams aren't and haven't been as good as little old Swansea's for some time. The myth that they're some powerhouse on the verge of recreating the class of 92 is just that - a myth.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets plenty of game time under OGS, just in a ragtag inconsistent team that changes every week. Time will tell if that's any good for his development but I think he'll do just fine in the Prem.

That might be true of the academy as a whole, but those players I mentioned are considered to be top prospects, and not just in the man u academy but also in the english youth sides

Danny Ward did well championship with huddersfield? Jonny Williams integral part of Crystal Palace's season when they got promoted to Premiership.. George Williams, maybe hasn't proven himself, fair enough! My hunch is he'd be a good addition. Gwion Edwards, impressive displays for a poor Ipswich side this season, and about the same amount of goals and assists as Dan James I believe?

I'd love him to go there and prove his worth but I just think he probably won't be quite good enough and his progress would then stagnate

He's not totally unproven, is he. Gave Walker and Otamendi a torrid time in the FA cup robbery. Played and scored for Wales against top flight defenders.
United don't have time to wait for their next lot of teenagers to come good, if they ever do. DJ is in Ole's plans now.

I think if he goes to United he will get game time, but owing to the level of competition it may well be bits and pieces. For Wales right now I think he'd be better off at the likes of a Bournemouth, but I wouldn't rule out him doing well at United from the off.

Might be loaned to Brighton for 6 mths or so to get a taste of the PL. Hate to admit it, but this would probably be the best option for him, and Wales.

Good luck Dan.
Get the deal done so you can concentrate on the Croatia and Hungary games.

I feel this move is too soon for him, but hope he smashes it. Thought the same about Brooks when he went to Bournemouth, but look at how that turned out. Big difference between Man Utd and Bournemouth though. I just hope he gets plenty of game time.

I'm glad solksjaer is at the helm when he makes this move.
Genuinely think he has a chance of game time occasionally

I don't think he would move there unless he was assured a decent amount of game time. Obviously he won't be expected to play every game, but he'll get enough games for sure.

They desperately need an out and out winger in their side, so I can see him getting a ton of games tbh. Just a case of whether he can make the step up, and whether or not it's the right club for him to develop his game.
Disappointed to miss out on him but it'll be interesting to see how he does.

Good luck, Daniel. Hope you manage to make it for the team flight today - otherwise, I'll save you a bunk at the hostel in Pecs : +)

Ben Davies was part of a swap deal. Money didn't change hands and the numbers were all fudged so everyone could avoid paying sell-on clauses (which we got sued for by Vorm's former club).

As if our backup keeper is our 5th most expensive player of all time!
I think that list will have a big shake up eventually with all the young talent we have coming through. You'd expect C Roberts/Rodon/Wilson/Ampadu/Woodburn/T Roberts to be sold for above £8 million if they were ever sold.
Also shouldn't Matondo be on that list in 10th?
