Has not been on my radar but scored the winner vs England U19 yesterday and seems to have been getting rave reviews at Everton. He is a forward - just what we need! Liked his succinct description of himself on Twitter too. www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nathan-broadhead-could-evertons-latest-10937783As an aside - was impressed with Lawrence last night for the seniors. I really hope he and Huws can come through for us. Can't believe Welsh clubs/managers have impeeded our progress this season - think non selection of Huws, Taylor and Robson-Kanua.

I thought Tom Lawrence looked lively, he's a young kids d and got stuck in. He drew a few fouls from the Serbian defenders and he should pleased with his appearance.

Does anyone know what progress he's making? He looked very good for our u19s and the fact that he's involved with the u23s for Everton is promising. How highly regarded is he with Everton?

Came on for last ten minutes in Everton's final (dead-rubber) Europa league game) and really showed that there is competition out there for Vokes and Hal! Within the first minute he zing-zagged past three defenders to lay it on a plate to Vlasic, who miss-kicked. Took on about three or four excellent positions, but didn't get the service. Won the ball in the air for the third everton goal assist to Vlasic. What I really enjoyed, was seeing him defend really well as well, and not at all shy to bark out instructions to the actual defenders!
We seem to be developing a team of natural leaders!

Good to hear. How did he cope with the physical stuff? Most of our emerging attacking talent are on the light weight side of things.

Way down the pecking order at Everton
Maybe a loan to a league 1 or 2 club in January would be a good idea

Yep, Everton fans were raving about his ten min cameo which is good to hear. Nevertheless, he was on the bench when there were half a dozen youngsters I'd never heard of starting the game, so as welshiron says he appears to be way down the pecking order. Definitely one to keep an eye on but difficult to tell what sort of level he'll end up playing at this stage.

Definitely one to keep an eye on but difficult to tell what sort of level he'll end up playing at this stage. Some quotes from an Everton forum... "Liked the look of Broadhead in his fleeting appearance tonight. Shame he didn't get longer than 10 minutes." "Shame Vlassic did not stick that chance away.....we would have been watching the run which led to the assist for a long time." "It’s always seems odd to me that Broadhead hasn’t had more starting opportunities at U23s level the past two seasons and to be honest I assumed he wasn’t showing it in training or Unsy would have picked him more . To me he always looked better than Duffus, Dyson and Sambou from last season and he’s scored some spectacular goals." "Always looks like he has that turn of pace to get himself a bit of space. He will be a professional here or else where. Actually the Martin Waldron podcast on the everton website the other day said 85% of the scholars go on to a professional career here or elsewhere- which is fantastic."

i went to Everton v Gor Mahia last night. Everton started with a very strong team which wasn't far off their strongest side and brought a few young players on in the second half. one of those was Broadhead who looked really lively and got himself a goal. Hopefully his inclusion in the squad last night means he isn't too far away from first team thoughts

Forgive my ignorance but who are Gor Mahia? They are the biggest team in Kenya. Both sides are sponsored by Kenyan bookmakers Sport Pesa who organised the game to showcase Kenyan football. It was a nothing friendly but entertaining enough and a good atmosphere except for the vuvuzeula's going all game long!!

I heavn't seen Nathan since October, but he had an excellent 90' today at Anfield in the derby. Scored both goals, in a 0-2 victory and made a lot of powerful runs down the left flank. He doesn't have lightning fast pace, but he is strong and not afraid to take on defenders. He certainly has a nose for a goal and had another two shots on targget that were saved.
Can't be far off the senior squad

The fact he did it against the red shite will do his case no harm.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but how did he compare to Woodburn?

Don't want to hijack this thread, but how did he compare to Woodburn? Woody looked fit and full of running. However, he was played out of position (Striker) and had precious little supply. As the match progressed, he was going back deeper and deeper to pick up balls and try to make things happen. This Liverpool U23 is a shadow of the team I enjoyed watching two years ago.
In comparison, Nathan was really feeding off his midfiled and had plenty of possession. Must admit that the two goals were classic poacher's/striker's goals - which I think is more natural for Nathan than for Ben, although Nathan was played on the left wing.
Giggs is on record saying back in October that he fully trusts Ben's fitness and training discipline and that game-time is not a consideration when picking him. I, for one, agree.

For those that don't yet know ... Everton are the Champions of PL2 U23 and our own Nathan is the Creme de la creme - have we finally found someone to fill those massive boots of our Churchy ;-)

Hopefully, a decent loan next season.

Presumably with a Broad Head he will require the wide bucket hat?
