Plays wide, and try watching a player rather than using stats, lies damned lies and statistics,as they say. Forgive me for not having all of Aberdeen's games saved on record. Also, you usually hear those sort of lines from dinosaurs in sport like the scouts in Moneyball who thought the data-led approach to player recruitment was far inferior to their ability in spotting targets, only to be proven entirely wrong. Don't mind being called a dinasaur when its by some idiot banging on about stats, seen his debut for Wales and seen him live for Aberdeen 5 times all against Celtic when as a team they were mostly second best.Every time he impressed me,so pardon me for not buying into whatever current fad you "modern" football "fans" are into.Statistical analysis is an art that takes years of experience to get right, looking up a few things on football manager doesn't equate to that!

Ha, I meant that slightly tongue in cheek - no offense intended. Was more just a general observation about that sort of statement you hear all the time around how looking at the numbers don't show anything and "just watch him play". I'm assuming that 95% of people here haven't seen him for Aberdeen, so in the absence of that I think bringing up the main output figures for a forward player is relevant. I certainly don't think it says the whole story and never suggested it would. Just some insight into how well he's doing, likely to do at a top championship club and therefore chances of having an impact with us. That's all.

Fair response mate I've watched a lot of Scottish football over many years including a 10 year stint living there so always get annoyed when players in that league get stick. In no way do I thing Hedges is the next big thing and I'd class him as a good all round football player who wouldn't let anyone down playing a higher level,Is he a premier League player? Depends on your definition,I don't think a team in that league would ever buy him ,but could easily see him at a championship club gaining promotion and doing a job there. With regard to output stats they can be deceiving ,I don't advocate ignoring stats ,but in football they have to be a part of the forming an opinion of a player, not a be all and end all.

Judging on their performance sans BBD & Rothwell yesterday, they dreadfully need some more creativity.

If he performs well for Blackburn he has to be close to the squad?

In line for a call up? Blackburn have started the season well and Hedges is still only 27

Scored for Blackburn in their last match.
If he continues to score and play well, is there a case for picking him instead of T Roberts, Harris or Matondo who have all been average at best for us?
I don't think he's on Pages' radar though.

All international teams miss out on the old ‘B’ team fixture. I suppose clubs oppose another fixture. Hedges, Doidge and Maxwell could have been looked at in our preferred formation. They don’t get a sniff.

I don't think he's on Pages' radar though. Page has spoken twice now in the build up to this latest window of his loyalty, I wouldn’t expect anyone who hasn’t been a regular previously to come in at this stage unless they are displaying Haaland levels of consistency in terms of affecting the score. I hope he gives some older players like Hedges more of a chance when the next campaign rolls round. It’s a pity there aren’t really friendlies any more for this purpose.

Saw DS tweeting that Hedges was close to a call-up / on the standby list. He's been in good form this season, but only got his first goal for the club yesterday. So he needs to be a bit more productive, then he'll likely get an opportunity - possibly as a wing back in the Burns / Thomas mould.

Oh right, interesting….again, given Page has made no secret of loyalty I wonder who would be up for the chop to make way for Hedges if he did come in then? Like you say I expect there is a bit of a way for him to go yet. I really don’t see any new faces coming in this year now. If his form is maintained into the post World Cup window then he should be seriously considered.

Great left foot! Hope he's given a go in the next euro qualifiers.
I know he's mostly played RWB or CAM but it might be worth seeing if he can play LWB and put good deliveries in from the left, allowing Connor or Neco to whip balls in from the right.
Other left footers I can think of to fill the LWB role would be:
Declan John, RND, Morgan Fox, Ben Davies, Andrew Hughes, Levitt, Bale ? Anyone else?
Wayne Ampadu Rodon Davies Neco Allen Wilson Hedges Ramsey Bale Moore

Blackburn's player of the month was on standby for the last camp:

Saw him for the first time tonight since that Trinidad & Tobago friendly.
He looked like a decent championship forward to me - nothing more, nothing less. He played wide right but had a bit of a free role where he like to go through the centre to feed balls through. He looks fairly creative and is decent on the ball with a good delivery, but didn't really stand out. Apparently he was on the standby list for the nations league games just gone, which feels about right.

Discovered after watching the Blackburn game the lad is left footed playing right wing back at the moment for Blackburn. Didn't work against Preston as he was always cutting in so no one to provide width other than the right sided centre half.
Now forgetting all that but we've been crying out for an actual left footed left wing back. Surely a shoe in for the next round of fixtures?

Id have him in ahead of Roberts on current form. Would be great to finally unleash Neco at RWB

I didn't know that, but that's interesting. For me I'm not sure 5 at the back is the way, but if we are going to persist with that I'd like to see him given a chance ahead of Sorba

Yes I'd say offers a lot more than Sorba for us.
I think even if we don't persist with 5, it's an option off the bench if we need to. I think RND more suited to playing left back/left sided centre half, so would be good to have a left footed option at wing back and unleash Neco.

It could be argued that Rhys Norrington-Davies is our best left back. I think Davies has really struggled there for us recently.

To be fair, I thought RND was pretty good going forward when he did play LWB in the NL as well as at LCB

Scores tonight, surely must be knocking on the squad door now given how well he's settled in the ch'ship and getting assists / goals.
