Neil Harris confirmed in his interview after Cardiff City's friendly yesterday that Mark Harris has been promoted to the first team for the upcoming season. He didn't play yesterday because he's away with Wales U21s, but he's featured heavily in the other warm-up games.
Looks like he's been playing as a sort of #10 or second striker in preseason. We've already seen him link up well with Moore, who scored that lovely goal after a one-two with him, and he's been making good runs and putting in dangerous balls judging from the highlights.
With Tomlin out injured at the moment, I think there's a decent chance he makes a few appearances over the coming weeks.

That's great news. I was having a chat with my mate about the difficulty of signing a backup for Tomlin. Who could you sign that 1) has enough quality to start a game for us in Tomlin's absence & 2) doesn't mind bench sitting for the majority of the season
Given that I think bringing through Harris to deputise for him makes perfect sense in that case. No doubt he won't have the quality Tomlin has, but I think he can do a job every now and then & it would be great to see us using a youth player rather than sign a journeyman!

We were the worst I think we have seen ever frankly. I've seen us beat you 3-0 in the conference. I suspect that was a tad worse than a loss in the Championship.

Surprised me how well he played. Lively, direct, confident and showed maturity in how he stretched the defence and brought others into play. Could have got another goal as well.
Deserves a run in team on that showing.

Deserves a run in team on that showing. Presumably if he gets a run for City then he might be worth looking at in the March friendlies. Was he playing as an out and out 9 alongside Moore, or was he a second striker just behind him?

Good article, although there seems to be someone missing from this sentence:
"This weekend sees Harris, Moore and Harry Wilson toe to toe with Wales’ teammates Ben Cabango, Connor Roberts and Liam Cullen"

Is he a Cardiff boy or another part of South Wales? He's from Sketty, Swansea. He's been at Cardiff from a young age, as when he joined them Cardiff definitely had the better academy.

Could be a Cardiff born and bred player starting for Swansea and a Swansea born and bred player starting for Cardiff tomorrow.

Harris is starting along with the other 3 Welsh players. No Cabango unfortunately.

What is the thinking on here Re: Mark's chances to play in the senior's March friendly?
Is he now ahead of Brennan and George Thomas, but still firmly behind Tyler and Rabbi?

I’d have him behind Brennan still, but ahead of Thomas- providing Harris keeps up getting decent minutes. Unsure whether I would call Harris up tbh- not quite yet for me.

I don't think he's ready for Wales yet. He does a decent job at stretching the defence while playing in a front two with Cardiff, but I don't see where he'd fit in a Wales line-up at the moment. I haven't seen him play on his own up front yet so not sure how he'd do in that position. But he might get a chance to play in that role now depending on Moore's injury. I don't think he's technically good enough to play on the wing or as a number 10 for Wales - he'd be way down the pecking order in those positions.
It's a case of wait and see I think. If he gets consistent minutes and plays well in a role that suits Wales between now and March then I think he'll deserve a call up.

2-3 years ago I'm sure he'd get a call up based on regular minutes for Cardiff. The truth is, and it's testament to the squad depth we've cultivated, that he will probably have to do a fair bit more to work his way into the squad when everyone is fit
I'm sure he'd be worth looking at in a friendly, but I just think there are too many ahead of him at the moment. He's a good option though if we get a few injuries
