He's a nuisance, perfect to bring on for Moore for the last 20 mins when he's flagging. Right Mick?

I think Harris has done enough to earn himself a place in Cardiff's squad next season. He'll never start over Moore, but he offers something a bit different off the bench.
I think there's probably only one place up for grabs between him and Watters next season, with one likely to go out on loan. Watters has shown nothing in the first team, whereas Harris has taken the few chances he's been given and scored 3 goals despite very limited minutes.

Well deserved. I hope he's plays a big part for Cardiff next season. Mick has suggested he could be loaned out though.
He offers something a bit different, with his tireless running and pressing and his pace, and he has decent strength too. I could see him carving out a niche in the Wales squad in the future as someone to come on to defend a lead from the front.

What a year or so it's been for Harris! Out in the wilderness after unimpressive loan spells now firmly a member of Cardiff's squad with a senior international cap!

Did well and wouldn't be against starting him, but if Bale, James & Harris are the assumed front 3 then that means 2 of Jonny, Tyler & Wilson miss out. Will Page go for that? I'm not sure. I think starting him is an interesting prospect though. Shame he didn't get a start in the friendly

I'd probably start him. If we're going to start Colwill in a competitive match, then why not Harris. He looks like more of a natural striker and footballer imo.

To be fair to the lad when he had the shot cleared off the line he didn't give it up, he won it back and found James which produced the pass to Bale.
Quite a few others would have give it up and held their head in their hands.

I've watched him a few times now, and he looks like a real hard worker who's great at harrying defenders and running down the channels. He doesn't however look like someone who can score many goals or is particularly creative. He's 22 and in and out of Cardiff's team (used mostly as an impact sub). I think we have better options, but he does add something a little bit different. He certainly had a really important impact yesterday and is another good player to have in the mix when we're struggling with unavailability.

He's probably better at chasing lost causes and pressurizing defenders, but he isn't nearly as good at hold-up play which is an important difference, I think.

Re: Options up front
One thing I'm slightly perplexed with is our depth and strategy of bringing strikers into the fold at the moment.
You look at our centre mid situation and not long ago it looked really worrying (still is to an extent but we're in a better situation now). We had the likes of Andy King, Will Vaulks, Lee Evans etc available. Which is fine for short term but none of them fancied for Wales as you knew their ceiling and capabilities. We do need to plan for the long-term success by giving young lads with heigher ceilings experience and trust early doors. Which we've done and examplified with the likes of Bale, Gunter, Allen, Ramsey etc.
With Levitt and Smith, I think both barely played senior mens footy by the time they were called up. They're still young and will undoubtedly have their moments where we question their selection or their starting place but what we can see are glimpses of a player that could hopefully kick on and play at higher standard week in week out than the short term options. Both, look like they should establish themselves this season and really kick on and have a good domestic and international careers with us. We've gave them the taste for international football, drummed up interest from clubs, gave them a spotlight to showcase themselves and the desire to secure regular first team football so they can continue being selected.
In essence we've had to be proactive and make our own depth at centre mid by giving these young lads opportunities as no one else was going to do that for us. For me, I'm not sure why we're not doing the same with our strikers as we're in the exact same situation now.
Names like Harris, Cullen, Jephcott or whoever younger get thrown around and people mention their goal scoring records and say they're not up to it but look at strikers like Moore and HRK who are and have been great for us. Neither of those two were prolfic strikers when they were 18-23 years old. HRK has only ever hit double digits once in a league campagin in his career and he was 31 years old when he did that. Moore only really started banging them when he was 25 years old scoring in League One for Rotherham and Barnsley. People mention Doidge, Bradshaw but they're in the same boat as Vaulks, King etc you know their capabilities and ceiling so you may as well look to the future.
It serves no purpose trying shoehorn lads to play at false 9 - you're effectively giving them poor quality minutes out of position and taking it away from a younger stiker. I would rather we call up one of these younger strikers give them the same opportunities we have with the likes of Smith, Levitt and Colwill and see if they can take it with both hands and establish themselves.
It's a tried and tested method. Boggles my mind why we're not doing it. There's only one Kieffer Moore and we were fortunate he came about. Lets be proactive.

I think you've got the timeline wrong with Smith, I'm pretty sure he was playing well with Twente before he started getting caps. Levitt hadn't played any senior football, but he was considered one of the top prospects at Man U's academy so we took more of a gamble on him. With the striker situation, we did try to test out a young, highly rated but relatively inexperienced player in Tyler Roberts. He started for us in the nations league away to Ireland, but as we all know by now that's not his position. With the others you mention, I don't think the comparisons with Smith/Levitt are valid. Cullen and Harris are both 22 or 23 and I think it's pretty clear they're ceiling is championship level max. I can't see Harris ever scoring many goals, but he should be a useful squad option in the championship and for us because of his other qualities, but I would put good money on him never becoming more than that. He isn't that highly rated at Cardiff. Cullen's a bit different because he does have great technique and is a good finisher, but there are gaping holes in other aspects of his game - most of which (such as lack of strength, pace and thus tendency to get dispossessed very easily) are not things he can improve that much. He's struggling at the bottom of the championship at the moment and I think he will be behind Piroe and that new striker. Again, it is extremely unlikely he will progress much beyond his current level. So, with those two, they're closer to the level and potential shown by Lee Evans than Levitt or Smith. Jephcott's a bit younger and scored more frequently so might become an option, so I guess there's more of an argument to bed him in, but he's struggled with the u21s each time I've seen him so personally I think he's better off there. I think it's also easier to bed in a midfielder and ask him to do a very simple job of sitting deep and provide simple distribution than it is to ask a youngster to lead the line for us.

Mark Harris, just needs to play. His movement, awareness and touch is there. Finishing is improving, his biggest problem is playing the way he does in the channels, on the shoulder you need pace. Which he doesn't have.
Pre injury I'd have called up Doidge just to fill the gaps supporting Keiff for the next 2 years until will unearth another striker. Jephcott is a strange one, Plymouth just say he's always in the right place in the right time. But not blessed with natural ability or pace.
I guess we have to hope and pray that Norton, Chem or Popov can get into the first teams at their respective clubs.

He came on as sub the same game Tyler did vs Ireland in Nations League and sub in the friendly against Mexico. Just checked on transfermarkt I think if most of those lads I've mentioned end up being regular Championship level players, I think that's pretty good going for us as potential depth up front it's better than what we've got for the most part at the moment anyway. That's my major concern in the long run is what happens if we lose Kieffer? He's 29 which I don't think is an issue, he could play well into his mid thirites by the way he plays but wouldn't be out of the realms if ever had a long term injury or a huge drop off in form same goes for any player really. I'm of the opinion with small resource pool of players we have we should try and future proof ourselves where we can. Get them inolved in squads playing friendlies/cameos off the bench like we did with Levitt and Smith initially. Those three in particular probably won't get to levels like Smith or Levitt but if we can be inolved in their development and get them to be better than the likes of Bradshaw, Doidge, Ched etc we'll have done a good job. It's much easier said than done and in the end we'll probably end up with a striker or two in a couple of years we've never even heard of! But worse comes to worse we've got one of those lot to fall back on if we're up shit creak!

I agree it's an issue, I was just pointing out that investing time in integrating Smith and Levitt is not the same as spending it on integrating Cullen and Harris, because the former have far higher potential. We have limited scope each international window to work with different players and work on different ideas. I'm assuming that the coaches don't think those forwards will kick on and become a long-term answer, so prefer to have a different system as a backup to Moore over having a like for like replacement. I agree with you, it will be a Norton or some other striker we currently know little about who will have a breakthrough season in a couple of years.
