Just seen this now on the sky sports YouTube channel. Shocker. From what I'm reading it sounds very treatable so reasons to be positive I guess.

Gutted for him. Props to the FAW team for spotting it, and sounds like a promising prognosis. Just have to hope, and get behind him. I'm sure we will see him back playing soon!

Brooks recovery ranks well ahead of qualification. Would be sweet though if we qualified and then a fully fit Brooks could be involved in the tournament itself

I'm not sure what happens with these but has anyone ever come back from something like this? Only one I can think of is Petrov but think he was 34 when he was diagnosed.

As stated - its seems there is an excellent chance of a full recovery - meaning no relapse in the next 5 years
Lets hope the Welsh doctors caught it very early.
However, the psychological damage and perhaps some physiological effects of what he goes through may understandably have a negative impact on what he can do going forward. I just hope he gets that chance of a World Cup tournament even if he is just a bit part player. If we can pick Colwill for the Euros based on nothing then I am more than happy finding a way to accommodate Brooks - some one who has contributed a lot to Wales if we reach the World Cup. He deserves it.
Irrelevant compared to this terrible circumstance, but I'll never forget he chose us off the back of a Toulon tournament where he showed he was the best player in that England U20 side. Its not like it was with the other Anglos where they perhaps thought it would be unlikely they'd break into the England squad - he must have known he would have a fighting chance at that age. Thank you 'Dai' Brooks and our prayers are with you!

Danny Gosset was diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma in August 2019 while playing for Bala. Given the all clear in January 2020 after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Returned to action with Bala in March this year. Moved to Caernarfon in the summer and has got 3 goals in 6 appearances i think back to his best now seemingly. Full recovery is possible and return to full fitness. Hopefully well see Brooksy in a Wales shirt again before too long.

Been thinking a lot about Brooks since the news broke. He's had a nightmare few years being riddled with injuries, a botched ankle operation, and now this. It's really shit, really, really shit.
I know I'm apostle's mr negative, however it's hard to see him playing professional football again at this level. I've seen loads of comments on facebook and twitter about people who've survived this cancer and gone on to live a full life. However it's one thing going back to normal everyday jobs, and it's another returning to elite level football after a life threatening illness.
Would love to seem him back on the pitch at this level, but there's no pressure - health and survival comes first.
He's in my thoughts a lot, just terrible, terrible luck.

That's good to hear. I'm just worried for Brooksdue to his history. He had an exceptionally bad and complicated Glandular Fever bought 3 or 4 years ago. Speaking of that illness, I also read on the Bournemouth forum that Glandular Fever and Hodgkins Lymphoma is somewhat related.

Maybe his decline in fitness/health came on gradually so to those around him everyday it wasn't immediately obvious. Then he joins up with Wales and because they haven't seen him for a while they immediately clock that he seems a lot different and something is off.
I'm just speculating and don't really know anything about this sort of thing but I do find it surprising that Bournemouth didn't notice at all and then the Wales staff did straight away.

Listening to Ellis James Feast Of Football and heard Iwan Roberts say Brooks could be available for the final in June if we beat Austria. Wow! I did not know he was making that kind of progress.

Yeah I heard that too but I think it was an off the cuff hopeful comment rather than some inside info that he had about Brooks’ progress.

A Bournemouth fan has tweeted saying he's heard that Brooks has had the all clear.
Fingers crossed that this is true. Probably best wait to hear it from the man himself first.

Can anyone remember what the exact comments were that were made by someone from Bournemouth on Twitter back in January? It was obviously referenced on another thread because I can’t see it on this one. It was something about training but I can’t remember if it was that he was back in training or that he was just a regular presence at the training ground.
Was wondering if there was an outside chance he would be available for June in some capacity if he has been training for the past few months.

I doubt it, if he is on the mend it's far more likely they'd be gearing him up for next season at this point

With reference to the posts above we’ll probably have to hear of an official all clear before we can speculate on his actual return.

A regular presence, apparently his treatment was going fine and he felt well enough to be on-site. So he was there most days hanging around for a moider with the squad...keeping his mental health positive and all that.

Best Wales related news of the year! Poor kid and his family must have gone through hell and back. Hope he can catch up with his career and be the player he was on track to be.

Thank f*ck the bloke that tweeted in my earlier post was correct. Tremendous news, the best sort of news, and to top it off, he'll be back in the Premier League next season. Happy bloody days, so pleased for the guy.
