So according to Brooks in his Sgorio interview he was unaware that Wales picked him for the Toulon tournament and already had agreed to play for England. It sounds to me that the FAW weren't quick enough. Now it makes sense from an old Robert Page interview where Brooks told him he would be available for the Welsh U21's before the start of the Toulon Tournament. Apparently it was always his intention to play for Wales as both his parents are Welsh. This makes me breath a little easier knowing that he is committed and won't turn. Basically he couldn't go back on his word to play for the English.

It was also said on sgorio that he will probably be in the u21 squad tomorrow rather than with the seniors, as he's only just recovered from a sickness and they don't think he should go out to china.

If this happens it's totally fine and strengthens the U21s

Don't get it personally. Why are we taking Woodburn then? He seems to be stalling at Liverpool atm, so why not take a kid who's actually playing senior football?

China might not have given a visa anyway - they might have considered him contagious!

Why on earth is that dinosaur manager of Sheffield's starting him on the bench? Total joke 'Dinosaur manager' - on what basis do you use this term? Brooks is being handled with great care at the moment given his recent illness, and has been medically advised that he shouldn't be playing anywhere near 90 minutes yet. Wilder has said today that he is able to start matches but because of the medical advice this has to be managed carefully. Therefore it looks like he might get a start and about an hour this Saturday against Nottingham Forest. The lad is absolute quality and the best prospect we've produced since Kyle Walker (other notable graduates include Phil Jagielka, Kyle Naughton, Matt Lowton, Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-Lewin), he can play in any advanced position but has mainly played just off a main striker and given freedom to roam. Came on against Burton on Tuesday and scored a sublime goal with his very first touch, looked a cut above. He's a level headed lad and seems to be surrounded by the right people having recently signed a new contact and stressing all he wants to do is play games - which makes his recent lay off even the more frustrating because his role at the club was becoming more pivotal by the game beforehand. Hopefully he can improve his fitness and get a run of games, because the impact he could have for us could make the difference between 7th place and the play-offs.

Great to see both him and ampadu in interviews confirming they are committed to wales and want to play. Really exciting squad with the established players and then Brookes, woodburn, Wilson, ampadu, and Mepham added. Also matondo, Tyler rroberts, Connor Roberts, Rodon, broadhead, Poole, Matt Smith and sure a few others who are showing good signs. Did we suggest a golden generation slightly too early? Declan John also seems to have started to turn it round.

Unmasking the top-flight club that asked about David Brooks www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/sheffield-united-unmasking-the-top-flight-club-that-asked-about-david-brooks-1-9163988AFC Bournemouth were the Premier League team that indicated they would be willing to pay an eight figure sum for Sheffield United’s David Brooks last season, The Star can reveal. Chris Wilder confirmed in December that an unnamed top flight club had made an enquiry for the youngster, less than a month after making his international debut for Wales. Although the United manager refused to divulge either the source of the approach or identity of those involved, he did confirm Brooks’ potential suitors had suggested they would be ready to pay more than £10m to acquire his services should the 20-year-old become available. Although Bramall Lane have yet to receive an official offer from Eddie Howe’s side, reports in Dorset suggest they have continued to track the player’s progress since registering an interest. Tottenham Hotspur also made noises about submitting a bid for Brooks at the beginning of the campaign but none materialised. Wilder recently insisted United must retain their best talent in order to mount another play-off challenge next term. Despite eventually finishing 10th in the Championship table, they remained in top six contention until the penultimate match of the campaign after beating the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday. Brooks, whose progress has been hampered by a bout of glandular fever, was named man-of-the-match when United triumphed 4-2 at Hillsborough in September.

So excited with our attaching options and given this then perhaps it was a perfect time for attack minded Giggs to take over from defence minded Coleman.
Brooks - winger who can score goals and create Wilson - a striker who can create and also has the ability to play on the wing Woodburn - can perhaps play 10, great technique and a fantastic clean striker of the ball Lawrence - has the ability and great striker of the ball but very inconsistent and does not always see players in space around him Bale - the Legend
and on top of this we have two ordinary forwards (Robson-Kanu, Vokes), but they both play in the Premier League and one of them scores very important goals for us!
and you never know, it could be Tyler Roberts break through season!
Surely we can't come off worse vs Republic of Ireland again in the autumn with this firepower. They are a nightmare to attack but we should be beating what is a very ordinary team, albeit our defence is perhaps a worry.

Our defence isn't that bad, Mepham will be in the Premier League before long and there is of course a certain Mr Ampadu

There’s a David Brooks Wales shirt on eBay.
Not sure if it’s the real deal though...

I'd be very surprised if he went to the Premier League this summer. Imo, he hasn't quite proved himself in the Championship yet.
Yes he has the talent, but he has barely played this year, and a number of similar aged players have been playing more consistently than him.
He also needs to bulk up a bit! I was surprised to read he's nearly 21, he looks like a 14 year old!

Looks like he is off to Bournemouth then! Could be a good move for the lad. Would think he needs a loan back to The Championship though, can’t see him getting much game time in the Prem just yet.
