Are we cursed? 2 incredible stars and Ramsey has been regularly injured throughout his career, as has Bale for the last 3 years. We get two promising young. big central defenders both seem injury prone, especially the best one - Rondon. Why??? Brooks, Tyler Roberts, Woodburn - the last 3 are constantly start stop while Brooks was developing rapidly then gets a serious injury. Then you have Ampadu with chronic back problems Would is it with us? Why always the talented ones? Look at England - Trent Arnold, Sancho - when are they ever injured, or Robertson for Scotland. We seem to be cursed!

The recent injuries are becoming concerning but the first two were broken bones. He was definitely rushed back and overplayed while carrying issues earlier this season.
Swans have also had Mike van der Hoorn absent for 6 months with a seemingly innocuous knee problem (so innocuous most assumed he was just quietly winding down his contract).

Expected to be out for a month. Contact injury to the ankle, not a muscle pull.

Even if they are different types of injuries, it can't be a coincidence that he's out so regularly and for such extended periods.
I think there are lots of unknowns around players' injury records. I've heard lots of ex players saying in recent years, through various podcasts, that when they played they were never fully fit and always played with 'niggles' in some shape or form. Once you've put your body through a few hundred games from the age of 10 until your 20s, you're bound to have picked up various issues that never completely go away. So it's a question of whether you're fit enough to play, not a simple fit/unfit determination - how many times do you see Bale play with some strapping down his legs? That translates into the mental aspect of it too - people's pain thresholds and how comfortable they feel playing through pain / with knocks. Some players may need to be as close to 100% fit as possible to be confident enough to play whereas others may be happy to play with far more significant knocks.
So Rodon may be a player who often has an issue no more serious than other players but, for whatever reason, doesn't feel confident / comfortable enough to play when others would? Now that is a massive assumption - but just chucking it out there as one possible explanation...

He played on for almost 10 minutes when he broke his foot last season. Not sure it's a question of willingness to play through pain. Ben Wilmot's also out for Swansea for the season with an impact injury as well, which makes Brandon Cooper 3rd choice centre half unless van der Hoorn is now considered fully fit. Marc Guehi's been shambolic so I'd love to see the Wales u21s pairing start a league game together this season.
Bale's "strapping" is usually that kinesiology tape that's supposed to prevent muscle strains and such by idk, voodoo? It's preventative rather than holding his leg together through an injury. Not many players walking off hamstring problems regardless of their mentality.

Rodon will be gone - rumoured to be Leicester which would be a great fit. John useless at left back but could be useful as a wing back. Bidwell has played well there to be fair but again is limited as a right back Leicester already have two really good CBs in jonny evans and soyuncu. I'd prefer him to go to brighton - graham potter would be really good for him, he's just the type of player they need and they suit his style of play.

Potter didn't give Joe any game time last season after he returned from his broken foot, preferring Cameron Carter-Vickers, and spent the whole season scouting for a new left-sided player to replace him. He found that player (Matt Clarke) and then signed him for Brighton.

That's strange and slightly concerning - considering the way Potter likes his teams to play, you'd think Rodon was the perfect centre half for it.

He didn't rate him as highly as van der Hoorn, or higher than CCV at any rate. Was actively (as in visible on Sky Sports sat next to his head of recruitment with their clipboards out) scouting replacements while at Swansea. There were doubts at the club that Joe could play the left-sided role at the start of the season as he'd always played on the right in development teams, and even if most became convinced over time it's evident that Potter wasn't.

He could go to Villa. Just watched the match against Man United. They had 3 CB’s on the pitch, even played one at RB, and not one of them is any good. I think a good team for any defender right now is Crystal Palace. Very well drilled in defence, have some decent players.

He would certainly learn from Dann, Cahill or Sahko but I doubt Roy would play him he does not give youngsters at Palace a chance to play.

Shame that he doesn’t play youngsters, they must be pushing on a bit, is there any coming through? Might be a worry if they all start to drop off.

Brilliant defensive game today. MOTM IMHO. Commentators mightily impressed (not Swansea ones).
Distribution not perfect but not easy against a side with all players behind the ball leaving no easy options.

I agree, the passing from the back three was a bit sloppy at times, but in terms of the defensive side of his game he didn't put a foot wrong. Whenever Swans needed him as the last man of defence he was there and assured. Top performance. Looks fully fit now as well.

unbelievable again yesterday. Almost certainly the three best centre halves in the league playing for the swans now. Cabango will be a top player as will Joe, but Guehi's potential is frightening

Not sure Woodman has had a proper save to make (perhaps one?) all season.

Would quite like to see him partner Cabango against England given they have formed a relationship at club level now

Would quite like to see him partner Cabango against England given they have formed a relationship at club level now Given his injurey record and he's already played about 5 games in 3 weeks for swansea, i think rodon's another one where we'll need to manage his playing time carefully over the next three games. I might just give him 45 against england. He should definitely start the two competitive ones and, ideally, we should possibly look to bring him off after 60 mins in the second game.

A bit of a dodgy one that - they could go down this season quite easily. Would he be guaranteed to start?

I'm still not convinced they are a safe bet, one result is just that & they were very close last season. Very poor opening game of the season against Newcastle as well

I don't think there's much truth in the rumours, I've not seen anyone particularly legitimate or credible link him there and think it's lazy journalism to be honest.

Be a shame for him to spend another season in the Championship. I think he's ready for the top level now and will progress further with regular gametime there.
