Fee agreed, he's signing a five year deal with Spurs. The fee? £11 million rising to £13.5 million. We've been robbed. Robbed by who though? By Spurs or Swansea's owners for letting Rodon go for far less than his worth? I'd say the latter. It's not as if the owners haven't got previous - with the James to Leeds fiasco. Good for Rodon in the long-term, but will he get decent game time between now and the Euros? Well as fans, yeah by the clubs owners. But the clubs owners/chairman have been robbed by Spurs. I think he will to be honest, I think Mourinho will be able to depend on him more than someone like Davinson Sanchez who isn't very good technically. I think by the end of the season he'll be a regular. I think Spurs have definitely got the players to set up with a 5-2-3 now as well, Reguilon and Doherty perfectly suited to the wing back roles, Davies best position is left side of a three, Rodon is best in the middle and Alderweireld could go on the right side. If they do that then he'd be even more likely to get a game. They've got the option to go: Lloris Alderweireld - Rodon - Davies Doherty - Hojbjerg - Winks - Reguilon Bale - Kane - Son The only thing for him, is that he's not signed in time to be registered for their Europa League squad, so he's missing out on those group games.

Terrible signing for us. No game time. Nightmare. He couldn’t turn it down though.

Spurs might be looking like the new Bournemouth of the season with their penchant for Welsh players..
All the best to him.

In two minds about this move, great to have a PL centre back in our squad, and great news for him personally.
Just hoping he gets the game time, as I think Mepham's move to Bournemouth derailed his progression a bit.
From selfish Welsh fan point of view, it would have been preferable to see him play week in week out at Swansea.

He doesn't really have too much competition. Dier isn't a natural centreback and Sanchez isn't convincing either. Alderweireld will play every match, but the other position is up for grabs. And if, as some are speculating, Jose switches a back three, then he's got two vacancies to fight for. I think he'll get his chance sooner rather than later. Just hope he can stay fit.

I only watched the last 20' of the match, after Bale came on. Am sure José is thanking his lucky stars that he bought our Joe. Their defence was a shambles.

Am I right in saying he's not part of their CL squad sp can't play mid week? Yes, the deadline for the Europa League squad was the 6th October. They initially came in with a bid for him on that deadline, in order to try and register him for the squad. However, they obviously bided their time and signed him well after the deadline, so were unable to register him in time. I think he can be added to the squad after the group stage, it's not ideal for either party, but not the end of the world.

Difficult to see where they're going to give him a chance with no league cup games either. Man United rested their usual starters in the league ahead of their European game this week - Spurs will likely do something similar as we get into the season properly. 3 games in a week for most of the season will mean he'll get his chance sooner or later. If he takes his chance well he could easily break into their starting XI - their creaky defence is their biggest weakness at the moment. With how well their attack is firing all they need to do is sure up the backline & Mourinho will explore every opportunity to get it right. No need to worry!

He'll be a backup to Alderweireld or Sanchez and get a few cup games, anyone who thinks otherwise are kidding themselves. FWIW, I think Joe would be good enough to start for a lot of PL clubs, but unless they're in relegation form, Levy will want his money's worth from Alderweireld and Sanchez.
He'll grow as a player no doubt, but it's a shit move from a playing time perspective.

Do you think he's getting paid the same as Rodon? Do you think Levy picks the team? No, but he's very much in charge of the financial side of the club and I can imagine him chewing any manager's ear off if a Zidane/Bale situation were to arise.

Alderweireld cost about the same as Rodon. Do you think he's getting paid the same as Rodon? I'd say it's highly likely. I get your point. I reckon Rodon will squeeze himself into the side by the end of the season. He certainly has the quality and Mourinho will have plenty of say over whether he plays.

Jose wouldn't abide the chairman interfering with his team selection or tactics. Whether Rodon plays or not will be Jose's decision and Jose's decision alone.

Poch didn't allow it either and it ended up with him getting the sack. As you say Jose will have even less tolerance for it. Can't see Levy making the same mistake.

On the bench tonight - with Dier playing with a dodgy hamstring. Bale joins him on the bench and Ben starts.
