Rodon getting a lot of love from Spurs fans. Seems he might just have earned himself a place as a regular starter By all accounts, he played well and Spurs fans want to see more of him. One minor point I'd like to raise, though - if twitter compliments are accepted as valid on here, twitter criticism should be received in equal measure.

I mean there were negative comments for Rodon too, there's always negativity. I think with twitter the default is negative comments, if you have a bang average game it's criticism, if you're bad then you get slated, if you're quite good it's mixed, and if you're brilliant it's praise. And even when you're brilliant there will still be criticism. I always take it with a pinch of salt but just good to see some positive feedback for him, even it's off people's opinions that I don't necessarily value because of the platform

Twitter is a generally negative place, and the standard for what's deemed acceptable on there just isn't touch with reality. If someone's getting praised on there, it's going to be well earned - you'd be hard pressed to find someone who's getting a lot of love from there own fans on twitter who isn't playing well. If someone's getting slated, then it's to be taken with a pinch of salt, plenty of good and very good players have had more than there fair share of criticism on there.

Unfair criticism seems to get a far bigger platform than unfair praise.

I suspect Rodon is a player that will have benefited enormously from the Euros being pushed back. Given him time in the top flight at a big club. The future should be bright for JR. Too early to talk about him as the new Ashley Williams but the signs are bloody good.

Too right, with the Europa League back soon too, he should get plenty of games now.

Too right, with the Europa League back soon too, he should get plenty of games now. It may be that he's favoured in the league and rested in the Europa League now. We'll see, he was brilliant in the last game & Spurs have been struggling for clean sheets. I expect Mourinho could well stay with the wing back formation & I think Rodon will be an important part of that

One issue I have with this forum and twitter reviews of our players is people just search welsh players names and then highlight the abuse they get and say they are being scapegoated or singled out when really you can search for any players name and they will be getting a barrage of abuse, we just look for the Welsh players.
Roden is the real deal and he will be a starter for Spurs next season, this is his bedding in time and he will be Joses number on centre back soon.

He's currently broken in to what's currently seen as there strongest eleven. Rested vs Wycombe, for today's game.
Now comes the hard part, keeping himself in that strongest eleven.

Absolutely brilliant in the first half. Ball came over his head for the goal, but Aurier lost the run of Mane, he wasn't Rodon's man. He put in a world class challenge in the box earlier when Mane was played in behind, and all around he's been Spurs best defender in my view

Jose knows the score:
"Next game he plays for sure... Not a coward in the duels. A brave boy. He made one mistake, unlucky. One mistake out of context of a very good solid performance."

Yeah it's a mistake for the goal but as Mourinho said his overall performance was good. He'll learn & he was up against a Liverpool front 3 that were in good form last night. As tough as it comes

Didn’t see the game. They ripped Rodon apart on the radio though. He was solid apart from one lapse where Mane was right behind him and he didn't clear it. I was disappointed for that but he definitely doesn't warrant getting ripped.

I was disappointed for that but he definitely doesn't warrant getting ripped. Absolutely, he was fine otherwise. With regard to the goal, he was caught between marking Mane and going out 2 metres to meet the cross and dealing with it - I expect that'll come with more games against good crossers of the ball like Alexander-Arnold.

He's a young defender playing making his 5th or 6th (I think) appearance at that level against one of the best forward lines in the world. Of course he's going to make a mistake

Looked partly to blame for the goal. Davies got done and he didn’t cover him. I think he’ll be a top player, just needs a few clean sheets the next few matches.

To be fair it was a really well worked goal & there was no obvious mistake made. Just good football I might have been harsh, just extra critical because it’s Welsh players involved. I do think if he’d got tighter to the lad cutting it back he could have either influenced it or at least covered himself from fault. I’ve just watched it again and the 3 players closest to the build up play were Rodon, Davies and Bale.

Spurs fans furious mourinho has left Joe out of there europa squad as most think he's there best defender. I actually agree with Mourinho's reasoning though. Joe was ineligible for the group stage and they started the tournament with a specific group of players. To bring Joe in he'd have to drop out one of the lads who was already a part of their efforts in that competition so far. Given that Joe seems to have nailed down a starting Premier League place now, he'll get plenty of game time & likely wouldn't be able to play all the Prem games as well as the Europa without needing a rest anyway. Squad rotation needs to be managed

Disappointing that he's been dropped, but right now Toby is probably their best defender and Dier is Mourinho's golden boy. In a back 2 Rodon is probably just behind them in the pecking order.
I suspect that won't be the case for long however.
