Everyone was saying the same about Bale being outcast earlier this month, it all changes very quickly with Jose Perhaps it's a bit of tough love to make him work really hard to improve & get up to Premier League speed. Jose stated that he liked his mentality, I doubt he's 360'd on that Given how.poor Spurs's defence is, I'm convinced he will work his way back in to the reckoning before long Yes, but if I remember correctly, I think you also suggested earlier last month that Rodon had established himself in the first team. As always, there's a spectrum of opinion on here from the ridiculously cynical/pessimistic to the naively optimistic with the truth somewhere in between. I'm not at all concerned about Rodon in the long term, my only co corn is his sharpness going into world cup qualifiers and the euros. I very much doubt Jose is trying to make a point by leaving him out because it's well documented how dedicated rodon is, how he stays in training way longer than everyone else. So Jose would know he doesn't need a kick up the backside, he probably just doesn't think he's good enough yet Well it did look like he had established himself when he started a series of games and Jose was showering him with praise post-match, as were the Spurs fans With my conspiratorial hat on, I wonder whether Joe took it personally when he wasn't included in the Europa League knockout squad & voiced his discontent about this. His disappearance from match days squads seems to have coincided with this, and could explain why there has been no sight of him

I don't know why Jose persists with Sanchez & Alderweireld when they keep conceding so many goals

Jose's completely lost the Spurs fans now it seems, he's got the League Cup final, or a big turn around to get Champions League footie ahead of Chelsea (which seems very unlikely) to save his job in my opinion.

If he doesn't get top 4 he's definitely gone. I can't see a league cup win saving him, unless Levy has previously specified this would be acceptable

Right before the international break. That's ideal if he doesn't get injured.

At least Bale isn't starting.

Yep, I'm not too disappointed seeing Bale on the bench for this one!

Decent game from him I thought. Hope he’s defrosted enough for the Belgium match.

Jose is definitely a Wales fan. Gave Rodon 90 minutes just so he's ready to face Belgium, brought Davies on for the same reason and left Bale out so he's fresh for it. What a guy.

I missed the first 25 when Spurs were under a fair bit of pressure but Roden looked very good to me. He's got a big future ahead of him and going to be a key player for us going forward. I think Ampadu is a bit of a liability in defence and would rather he was pushed forward to play along side Allen. But the defence is hugely important and I think Roberts, Roden and Davies nailed on starters for the foreseeable. Who fits in with them only time will tell, but they'll be a significant part in us qualifying for Germany 2024 and who knows give us an evens shot at the play offs for Qatar.

There are four players who, when fit, are in the starting line-up come what may, Allen, Rambo, Bale & Ben Davies. Joe Rodon has made it five now hasn’t he?

We just look much better when he’s on the pitch. Obviously Welsh management see Kieffer as a ‘horses for courses’ kind of player. I’m not sure. Should have started yesterday.

I'd put Connor Roberts as a definite starter.

After them I think Connor Roberts and Hennessey are almost nailed on too (I'm assuming that Hennessey will reclaim the shirt...)

I'd personally add Hennessey as well, baffling why Ward has been chosen instead.

I am if the opinion Davies should have started. Ward is content to warm the bench and Wayne has not played a competitive match since before Xmas. Be clear Wayne has been a great team member and player over the years but will be 35 next birthday and is unlikely to play regularly at Palace going forward. We need to start developing his sucessor for the WC campaign and beyond and to me at least Davies is likely to play regularly at a mid table championship team.

Rodon played the full 90 in Spurs's 2-2 draw with Newcastle. Davinson Sanchez at fault for both goals - no idea why he is being persisted with

For much of the game he looked at home at this level, but I think he got his positioning wrong on a few critical moments. He was very fortunate that Cavani's first goal was offside (a bizarre decision) as he'd rn off of Rodon and behind Dier - both were at fault. He also didn't track Fred for the equalizer where he was too preoccupied calling for offside. But, other than that, I was encouraged by his performance

Great test for Joe against a master of the number 9 position. Had a good ding dong with Cavani for most of the game and got under his skin on a few occasions. Would love to see him partner a top class cb as he learns the game instead of Dier or Sanchez.

He played him on but even if he was a yard further up Cavani may have timed it differently and been in anyway

Speculation on twitter that it might be to do with his ineligibility for the League Cup final on the weekend. Spurs pretty much have nothing to play for in the league, so Mason's using this game as prep for the final.

On Twitter all Spurs fans wanted him in the 11. Something to do with a run out for League Cup final as stated above.
