Still find it a bit of a strange one that Doidge hasn't been called up, especially after the latest pullouts. Brennan Johnson is an unknown quantity, and has hardly played for Forest, and Woodburn should be nowhere near the squad.
I don't see the whole Scottish League quality issue an excuse because plenty of Celtic players have done ok at international level.

Makes total sense to involve both. Shame for Doidge but he is pretty average and we have better options in Moore and Robson-Kanu and so do not need another target man. If they get injured then he should be considered.
Woodburn has quality. He may fail to deliver on his promise but no one strikes the ball as sweetly as he does on the volley at 15, 16, 17 and 18 and then becomes average. His striking of the ball is similar to Gerrard and is excwptional. He was perhaps not as professional as he should have been at 18 and 19, was unlucky with injuries and learned a hard lesson at Sheffield Utd. It is now up to him and its lucky that he is at a quality club that look after their youngsters. He can come back but needs to have the right mentality and a bit of luck!
Johnson - why not give him the taste?
The point about internationals, especially the Nations League, is they are typically Championship level or below. That is why James may look an absolute superstar on Thursday and why Matando could do something.
Judged on the ast I think Giggs will play Neco and perhaps Levitt vs Bulgaria at home. Matt Smith will probably start away to Finland. If we are doing well, I would not be surprised if he brought Johnson on for a cameo at the end versus Bulgaria too.

If this were Scotland, NI or Ireland or any similar levelled team, would they be ignoring a goalscoring striker in the SPL?

Wow, spectacular effort with an overhead kick! Saved by Gordon

If this were Scotland, NI or Ireland or any similar levelled team, would they be ignoring a goalscoring striker in the SPL? No they wouldn’t. Definitely needs a game against USA. A situation like his is exactly why friendlies exist. Public seems 50/50 on him give him a chance against someone decent and see what he does

With Hal and Ben Woodburn out of the squad and Vokes seemingly out of favour I’d say that it’s now it never for Doidge.

Surely the USA game is the perfect opportunity o try out someone like Doidge? Give big Kieffer a bit of a rest ahead of the competitive fixtures

Looks to have lost his starting place, at least for the time being.

Just when you'd forgotten about him....
CD turns up with the winner for Hibs against Dundee Utd, to secure his side a Scottish Cup Final appearance on May 22.
The ex Barry and Carmarthen striker has an eye for a goal, for sure!

Doidge scored again last night - the only goal in Hibernian's away win at Aberdeen, securing a third place Scottish Premiership finish for his side.
This took his tally for the season to 13 goals and four assists.
Hibs manager, Jack Ross, had this to say: “Christian's goal return has been excellent, and he’s so honest in his work rate”.
Next opponents in the league are Celtic this coming weekend - and might CD getting on to the scoresheet again give Robert Page & co some food for thought?

PS: Surely a better track record than e.g. HRK @ WBA?

No chance of making the 26

Nope, needed to get crazy numbers to stand any chance. He was doing it at the start of the season, but then tailed off. HRK's different, he wouldn't be selected for his goal threat, not that I'm saying he should make the 26 either - but he probably is the best backup to moore

I can see Doidge being the new Bradshaw.Every now and then he’ll put a short run of goals together and everyone will say he should be called up. Then the goals will dry up and everyone will forget about him for a while, until he scores a few in a row again.

PS: Surely a better track record than e.g. HRK @ WBA? I suppose the question is how many goals would HRK score if he had a full season at Hibs? Or would Doidge make the bench in the Premier League with West Brom?

Personally, I hope CD gets the call-up! I don't rate his chances as zero - he could be the HRK of Euro 2020!
Let's see how he gets on in the Scottish Cup Final tomorrow.

If he was Scottish I don’t think he gets in their squad. I think we’ve left it too late anyway. We should have organized a ‘B’ fixture in the last years.

Hibs lost the Scottish Cup Final today to St Johnstone, and no goals for Christian - nor against Celtic in the league last weekend.
A late flurry of goals to end the season might have boosted his chances, but I don't now think he'll make the Euros squad with Wales.

His record in the Scottish league just isn't all that good. 7 goals all season at that level isn't impressive. Another case of Bradshaw syndrome I think

Back from injury, and in with a shout for starting (and scoring?) in the Scottish League Cup Final v Celtic next Sunday. Came on as a 20th minute sub in the 1-0 win against Dundee last night.
