Another great performance from Mepham, a solid 8/10 for me. He’s started playing for us as a left sided CB rather than on the right, and this change seems to have made a big difference to him.
What side does he usually play on for Wales? He seems a lot more confident on the left despite being right footed.

... I am also pretty sure that the yellow card that appears to have been given to him after 85' was mistaken ID. Yeah you’re right, I think he was booked for a Lewis Cook challenge. Luckily for us as Cook would’ve been sent off!

Mepham's played on the right side for us. Good to hear Mepham played well, how good is he playing the ball out of the back?

Had another decent first half - couldn't be blamed for the Brighton goal, early doors. Should have done better in clearing the disallowed goal in second half - had two chances of doing that - but no harm done.
Probably should have done better in blocking the 2nd goal.
All said, another decent game. Although, if Brighton were not so wasteful, it could have easily ended 5-0 ...

Got done by Mooy for Brighton's second goal. A poor day at the office for the Welsh Bournemouth boys...

According to some rando on Twitter who apparently works for the Daily Mail, Mepham is set to be out for 12 weeks with a knee injury. Take that with a massive pinch of salt obviously but that would be a massive blow for us and presumably Wales too.

Not a massive blow for us with no competitive football ahead. He's a dead cert to be in our squad for the tournament, providing he gets enough game time towards the end of the season to be match fit. That's the only worry.
What's going on at Bournemouth with all these injuries?

Mepham tweeted on Friday that he would be undergoing surgery on a significant knee injury on Saturday, the press are talking abut being ruled out for 3 months, which would take him up to mid April, maybe a bit later. Not good news.

We’ve just got to hope that the injury doesn’t turn out like the injuries to the likes of Chester and Brooks where ‘3 months out’ turns into 6 months and then 9 months.

Bournemouth’s defence is shocking. You’d think Mepham would get a look in at some point surely?

I think all three Welsh lads did well, despite the score! Mepham was really good on the ball when he came on and Wilson looked lively too

Sadly I think that's Bournemouth down looking at their remaining set of fixtures. Brooks will get a good move, Wilson will go back to Liverpool, I think Mepham will stay and will get a full season in the Championship ahead of the Euros

Christ almighty. Why are we so injury prone??? Must be the strongest element of the Welsh DNA, even with those with only grandparents. Also Bournemouth medical team need a kick up the arse, they’re apparently awful.
Honestly, the only non-injury ‘prone’ youngsters we have are Dan James, Morrell and Rabbi. Even Ben Cabango’s managing a hernia!

In the space of a week we went from having hardly any centre-backs available to them all being fit. Assuming they all remain injury-free, who starts against England? In my mind it’s always going to be Mepham & Rodon, but will Giggs see it that way? And where does it leave Ampadu if Rambo & Allen are both back? A great problem to have, but I don’t know what are best XI is anymore.

He came off after 75odd mins on saturday and there were reports on radio cymru that it may have been injury-related. I suspect that Ampadu's long-term (and potentially immediate) future will be at cb. I don't particularly like the look of a mepham-rodon partnership. I like both players, but they're very similar. I suspect Ampadu-Rodon will be our preferred choice going forward. We just need one of the young centre mids to step up and nail down a place alongside allen.

Giggs has mentioned before that he knows his preferred pairing. My guess is that it's Rodon-Mepham given that he said this shortly after they played both games together against Azerbaijan & Belarus (H). And given that Giggs's comment was in relation to not having a fully fit back 4 to choose from - he's been unable to play both since. When Rodon was fit in the Slovakia-Croatia double header, he played. When Mepham was fit in the Azerbaijan-Hungary double header he played. I think Giggs now sees Ampadu & Lockyer as deputies to these two, with Cabango providing cover.
If all fit Mepham-Rodon to start with Ampadu in midfield. Not sure if Giggs will go full strength for the England game - but I expect that to be the full strength combination

I tend to agree, although I suspect that Giggs has a liking for Lockyer that a lot of us don’t appreciate. We’ve kept 4 consecutive clean sheets & only one centre-back has played in all those games...

I expect he would play one game of either England or Ireland. Prob see the Rodon-Mephem pairing in at least one of those.

I think the four centre-backs will be Rodon, Mepham, Lockyer, Cabango, and I think all four will feature at some point in the three October games.
I think our best centre-back pairing is seen as Rodon and Mepham, with a midfield three of Allen, Ampadu and Ramsey, at least for the time being.
