Dean's old man was from Salford and was equally single minded and outspoken. Tosh and Dean's old man never saw eye to eye. Dean is single minded. He had two terrible injuries in his teens and worked very hard indeed to overcome them. He is in his first stint as manager and is finding that non league footballers just don't have the same ability as what he is used to. He is frustrated obviously. His grizzly demeanour is a sign that he is taking no prisoners in trying to turn wrexham around. Is he at the wrong club? Do wrexham lack ambition? The strange thing about football is that everyone is an expert. Imagine asking a lawyer of 20 years experience about his tactics in court. Hey chef do you think the broccolli should have been to the left of the grillet poulet and the sauce just a little less seasoned? The answer would be fuck off you little prick in most cases. Football managers have to put up with a lot of know all journalists. In my opinion i've only read one who seems to understand whats going on....J wilson. Saunders is wrong to let his frustration get the better of him but at least he's no savage. fans dont have much access to management/players in this day and age so answering to the press is often the only way fans get to hear from them so in my view they do have a responsibility to give reasonable answers when questioned i never had much confidence in him,he's not not manager material,he will never manage a big club but he completely lost me when he did that 'i dont have to be here' interview..he came across as he expected everyone to get on their hands and knee's and thank the lord that saunders had lowered himself to take on wrexham he's a rookie manager who sod's off when the international's are on(they shouldnt let him go in my view) he should be thanking wrexham for giving him the chance,he's obviously ballsed things up but like toshack he seems oblivious to it all it must be someone else's fault as it cant be theirs

I wonder if he's not at the right level. Maybe I'm being too kind to him as he does seem to be a bit of an arse and that can't help the players respond to him.
But when he was on 5 live he wiped the floor with the other pundits. He demonstrated exceptional insight and not the banal platitudes and stating the obvious that you got from everybody else. So maybe he's struggling to deal with players who can't execute his ideas?

My point made higher up. His ambition exceeds the available cash the available talent and his ability to make silk purses out of pigs ears. Everyone is frustrated. He's acted surly but the impatience of football fans is second to none. Wrexham like Newport spent 20 years heading towards relegation. Both experienced long term decline and the supporters want a miracle worker.

20 years in decline??? Yes since around 2004 when we were relegated after having 10 points taken off us for going into administration through bad ownnership we have been in decline but for the majority of th 90's and into the eary 2000's we were the highest placed welsh club. Our downfall has been quick through like i said bad mangament and ownership. It makes me laugh at this idea that saunders might do better in a higher division, ihear it round the racecourse, but saunders has the worst record for any wrexham manager and in my opinion has one of the most talented, well paid squads. we have sinclair,ex chelsea, shearer, div 1 keeper last year, keates, div 1 player last year, gaz taylor, ex international, mangan, top conf goalscorer, morrell, ex championship, andrews, t&t international with 100+ caps. surely saunders should be able to beat eastbourne, kiddy or barrow with these players if he's any type of decent manager.

... According to Western Mail (Paul Abandonato).
He'll leave after Swiss away game, or sooner if a replacement can be found.
Not being reported anywhere else just yet.

IF thats true, IF then we need a new guy ASAP. Give the next two games to Flynny and have done with it.
If hes on his way out then it makes no sense to give these next two vital qualifiers to Tosh while we could still salvage something.
Come on FAW- get it right for once in your sorry lives and get this situation sorted ASAP in time for Bulgaria at home. A new era (so to speak) may even boost the crowd numbers. Although I damn well know we can expect more sitting on hands from that lot and they will only act after the Swiss game.

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2010/09/05/john-toshack-to-quit-as-wales-boss-91466-27207059/"Toshack is ready to recommend Wales and Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs as his successor." Oh **** off Toshack, you have ballsed it up enough already and now you are recommending a guy with no experience and with no respect for Wales to come in and balls it up some more. Seriously, every minute of this mans reign has been a disaster and even in on his way out he is still trying to f*** s*** up. Flynn in. End of.

I can't help but think we should leave Flynn where he is, why rock the boat there, he's doing a cracking job and can still advise the new manager like I am sure he has done with Tosh.

Just been on ITV Wales news (after a press conference with James Milner, of course). Priorities??
Apparently he's taken the team as far as he can, and will go now if a suitable successor can be found. If the u-21s do enough against Italy, will that be it? Flynn's got to be the man.

Brian Flynn is the only Welshman that I think should be manager. If not get a foreign coach.

Realistically, give me the name of a foreign coach who would take that job? We are in a right old mess at senior level and we do not have the cash to throw at a big name.
That leaves us with the welsh option but we all know that Pulis and Speed wont be interested. Flynn is the stand out candidate really. In a perfect world it would be better for him to stay with the under 21s but if its not Flynn then its likely to be Saunders or Coleman and god help us if its either of those two.

I don't mind another Brit to be honest, even if not Welsh, we've actually tried the European approach with Tosh and it didnt produce results as some of us hoped it would. Flynn is obviously in the box seat.

coleman?? no, pulis?? no hope, giggs?? on £90,000 a week at utd!! if it had been a few weeks ago then i reckon speed would have been a front runner. what none of us has considered is that flynn might follow toshack out, tosh appointed him and they appear to get on. or even worse, the new man might come in and bring his own backroom team with him and flynnie could be out the door!!!
we might have ended up with our very own 'be careful what you wish for' moment--tosh gone and we've got no ideal replacement.

First, respect to Toshack. He didn't have to leave; he had a contract til the end of the Euros but has obviously made this decision in the best interests of the national side. His results haven't been great but you can't doubt that he cares passionately about the country and the job.
Second, we have to offer Flynn the job. As it stands, we are on course to reach the play-offs of successive under-21 qualifying campaigns under his guidance. Before Flynn that would have been unthinkable.
If Flynn doesn't want it, give the Faroese FA a call and ask to speak to Brian Kerr. He's done a great job with limited players and his side came very close to an away win against Estonia last month. I watched that and the Faroes were brilliant - well organised and hardworking.
Under no circumstances should we offer it to Giggs. He's totally wrong for a managerial role. Too quiet and inexperienced, I worry it could turn out like Steve Staunton's stint with the Republic of Ireland.

I don't want Giggs either, he has turned his back more on Wales than Gavin and Smithy going back to Billericay from Barry.

Not sure. I just want Wales to be better than we currently are and, while I think Flynn is a legend and I'd be delighted to be proven wrong, I'm unconvinced he has the ability to compete at top level. This is a decent crop of players. Someone raised the interesting question about whether the group coming through - for all the hype - are any better than the generation who have retired under Tosh. Certainly strikers are a concern, but midfielders - particularly with Bale either on the left or pushing on from left back - are encouraging, with Ramsey, Collison and (maybe) Allen. Next managerial appointment is one we've got to get right. And while I think Flynn as manager and Giggs as a coach would be a good combination for me, if we could get him, Martin O'Neill is far and away the best candidate. And it's not unrealistic. There are no jobs for him at present. He has nowhere to go apart from a top 4/5 prem side. He hasn't managed at international level and while he could hold our for the NI job, maybe he'd see more potential in Wales....

The best man we could realistically get. But I guarantee you, the FAW do not have the balls to even contemplate a move that daring. According to the BBC the FAW are believed to be happy to let Tosh continue even after he has offered to resign, they seem reluctant to let him go as it means they will actually have to make a decision on something instead of just maintaining the status quo as they usually do. The next appointment will be the easiest and cheapest option, so its a good job that Flynn ticks those boxes.

Whoever takes over, the fact remains that we have two games left to revive this qualifying campaign.
I'm not sure bringing in a manager from overseas at this point would be beneficial, as it would take time to get to know our players and impose his style.
I think whoever takes charge needs to be able to inspire and motivate his players.
IF the under 21s don't qualify for the play-offs, then Brian Flynn will be free in October. If so, let's give him a try, with another former international as his assisant.

Welsh manager for Welsh national team. Should be same qualification rules as if you were to want to play for Wales. If Martin O'Neil has Welsh grandma/uncle/hampster then fair enough. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Not that O'Neil would want the job in a month of sundays.
As far as who gets it - the one thing Tosh's reign has shown is fancy European formation theories is no match for passion, organisation and will to win. We need to choose whoever it is that the current squad would most likely go that extra mile for. I'd imagine that would be Flynn/Giggs or Flynn/Speed. Or even just Flynn.

Flynn has to be given a chance - can't fault his u21 record. Martin O'Neill would never take it - basically top 5 prem manager earn what 2m+ a year now, maybe more. I imagine tosh was on 200k ish? From that point of view it has to be a Welsh manager or promising from the lower leagues.
One possible Englishman that would be interesting is Peter Taylor, but again that's on the strength of an u21s record, so no more positive than Flynn.
"Brian Flynn's Red Army" - oh, and get Joey Jones in some capacity.

It's got to be Savage. Just for the comedy element alone. This could lift welsh spirits, Lord knows they are down. Maybe savage could do a streak wearing a dragon mask just when we are under the pump after 25 mins and diffuse the pressure. Imagine Savage blowing a vuvuzela at the ref when a bad decision is made or a press conference from a different sports car of his until he goes through his entire collection. Or even better Savage in a gigantic spa surrounded by a bevy of buxom beauties as he announces the Squad. C'mon you knows it lads.

Flynn next. Got to be. I don't care if you're Martin O'Neill or Jesus Christ, neither of those guys have taken our under-21s to the brink of qualifying in two successive campaigns.
