Absolutely. Two enlightening but distressing articles on this in The Guardian today. Seemed like an absolute sweetheart, going by accounts of his relationships with his family, fellow players and supporters. Even on a personal level, this will be a huge loss to the clubs associated with him.

Obviously, I follow Bournemouth because of Meps and Brooksy, but I am genuinely happy for the Bluebirds' brilliant victory today, especially given the circumstances. They needed this. A massive well done.

A massive well done. As a total neutral in this, I was more than impressed with the Bluebirds. Just as well that I was stood on the Canton, as I needed enthusiasm and adrenalin ;-)
Yes. I was a wee bit disappointed with no Brooksy on the team sheet - but Cardiff were a pleasure to watch. Really reminded me of the old Arsenal ;-)
They should have made is 4-0, and that would not have flattered them. But three points will do just fine

Agreed. Just hope that they can move up the table and hang on until the end of the season...

Hopefully they can find the black box. (Do private planes carry those?)

Well done Cardiff against ALL the odds the players have given us a great chance of staying up this year. We are mainly Championship players punching well above their weight so if we do stay up, they deserve all the credit in the world.

Looking at the BBC news tonight and that vile football agent Willie McKay and his equally odious son were trying to blame Cardiff City for the tragic accident involving Sala. I hope the authorities throw the book at the both of them and lock them up.

Fully understand their viewpoint.
Cardiff are trying to put the blame on them after leaving a huge asset to make his own travel arrangements.
Cardiff need to pay up and claim on any insurance they presumably took out

I have read that Cardiff offered to put him on a scheduled flight & i would rather believe the club than a sleazy money grabbing agent cutting corners to HIS benefit but hopefully it will all be investigated.

Agents lying?
Whatever next clubs telling the truth.
What happened was a tragic accident and Cardiff should pay what they owe to Nantes.

With the greatest respect, we don't know the legalities of the situation.
Whatever the AAIB report reveals (and I won't be going into it on here), there could be a case for arguing that there has been negligence if certain procedures or processes have not been followed. The insurance could also be voided in certain situations.
Perhaps, Cardiff have a case for holding off the payment if it is deemed that negligence has occurred by, or on behalf of Nantes. Or maybe they don't. It's for the Court of Arbitration to decide or any other relevant jurisdiction. I don't think this case will be black or white.
I'm sure from a football perspective, their focus will be trying to stay up in the most challenging of circumstances.

How can it be Nantes fault?

How can it be Nantes fault? From a purely legal (and entirely hypothetical) perspective, if anyone is found to have been acting in some capacity on behalf of Nantes, and whom is also found to have been negligent, than the other party might argue that by virtue of that individual(s) acts or omissions, Nantes itself is liable. This is called vicarious liability in UK law, and here and elsewhere, an organisation can be held liable for the acts and omissions of its independent contractors as well as its mere employees.
I believe this MIGHT possibly be what Cardiff is alluding to in the media when they say they are looking into this matter before releasing payment. If the roles were reversed, I believe Nantes would probably do the same.
