Although I did post this about six months ago ... its worth re-posting ... and I did double check with both places re price and opening hours on Face Book last week ;-)
Dajti Ekspres Cable car Take the blue bus (40 lek) for about 20 mins, then walk uphill 5 minutes to the cable car terminus. It’s The “Porcelan” bus that goes towards "Linzë", which is blue and departs from the Tower Clock (Sahati), in the centre of Tirana near Skenderbeg square mosque. The lower station of Dajti Ekspres is a 5 minute uphill walk from the last bus stop (Teleferiku). Alternatively, visitors may get off the bus at I.K.V and take the Dajti Ekspres minibus which is stationed 10 metres behind the I.K.V stop Cable car is 800 lek or €6 return trip. Student Ticket is 5 euro instead of 6 euro The Dajti Ekspres cable car is Open 9am-7pm everyday in Winter except Tuesdays !!! Return cable-car (20 minute ride!) is 800 lek or €6 (which is better value)… There is also a mini-golf course for €10/pp…
Bunk’art 1 The underground nuclear war complex – opened only in 2016 Find the blue bus that goes towards Linzë or use same “Porcelan” bus to mount Dajti cable car station (above)! Entry is only 500 lek or 700 lek with audio. Or, Bring your own headphones and download their free app to your phone. Open 9am-4pm everyday except Tuesdays !
There's also a free walking tour of Tirana if anyone is interested www.tiranafreetour.com/

What’s the difference between the two Bunk Art?
Thinking of going to the more Central one if I can and leave my mates in a pub for an hour or so 😂

What’s the difference between the two Bunk Art? Thinking of going to the more Central one if I can and leave my mates in a pub for an hour or so 😂 Think it depends on the amount of time you have.
BunkArt 1 - 20 minute out of town - is a massive complex of over 100 rooms, that you will struggle to do in less than 2 hours. More like three hours. Its less than 10 minutes walk from there to Mount Dajti cable car ride. The actual 20 minute ride itself is quite spectacular and the birds eye view from the top is supposed to be amazing. Again, you are looking at another 2 to 3 hours. Doing both these in a half day is well worth the effort.
If all you have is 1-2 hours, then the central BunkArt 2 is a lot more informative, better laid out and certainly more condensed. You will miss nothing by only doing this one, other than the Grand scale specticle of the other one.

Survey in and completed. No flight numbers or airlines needed. Just destinations and the name of my hotel.

I’ve got Euros and I’m going to change denominations in to Lek as and when I need it.
I royally messed up in Belgrade with cashpoint charges as it was a high currency (5,000 Dinar a day to cover everything) and was overdrawn by the end! And, in Tbilisi, I let a tout get me in to a cab. He tried to take me for 200 Lari for an airport to hotel run. Thankfully the doorman took my side. All experience!
If anyone is on O2 then there’s a bolt on which allows coverage for £4.99 a day. Handy if you’re using maps to get somewhere.

Avoid cashpoint charges with pre-loaded cards such as Starling / Monzo / Revolt. My Starling Card arrived 2 days after ordering it!
MAPS.ME App is superb and works offline seamlessly, including vocal guide.
Google Translate App will allow you to download Albanian (as well as Italian and Greek) and use off line translator

Kruje sounds like another decent option for a half day, as its only 45-50 minutes away.
From my reading, Berat is certainly worth considering, but most people recommend staying there overnight. Not only as its a 3-hour ride away from Tirana, but that is is especially attractive a night. Berat is only 1.5 hours away from Elbasan, so could possibly be done in combination with the match?
For public transport, this is a decent site:

I see recommendations including no ice in drinks and even cleaning your teeth with tap water such is the poor quality of what comes out! I was planning on showering at some point...

I'm off to Berat on the Wednesday, staying in Elbasan on the Tuesday night after the game. Definitely looks worth at least a night there. Staying in Kruja on the Thursday night as it's close to the airport for my flight back on Friday. Going to see a bit of Albania which will hopefully give me a good feel for the country. Love to do more but not possible in such a short space of time.

FSF Guide excellent as usual, big thanks to them for their efforts. Do we know if we'll be allowed in early to put flags up and come back out again? As we did in Belgrade. We have a Starling card too used it for the 1st time in Denmark saves quite a bit on bank charges, trouble is you actually realise exactly how much you spend on these trips! Brilliant card tho. Definitely going to Mount Dajti on the Monday. Cant wait for this one.

You get a text message within seconds telling you what you spent in local currency as well as ££

Finish my current job on Friday and start a new one in Belfast on Monday. There for four days then six days off to go to Wales and then Albania Told them when I was offered the job and they didn't mind so I'm not complaining. That's the public sector for you.

Looks like it's the standard European plug adaptor for Albania if anyone was wondering.
Four countries visited this year (Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Albania) which is a peoffrey record.

I've seen the FSF say that the best bank to use to avoid charges is the Banque Societie General as it's 350lek compared to the usual 700lek. Are the charges for these still negated with the Monzo/Starling cards? Don't mind paying it like as it's only like a £2.50 just wondering if they are.
Can't recommend the Monzo/Starling enough though. Ideal for anyone doing even one Wales away.

I think there's no escape from these charges, but using starling or monzo will avoid further charges from your bank.
