jonathandearth I'd be interested to know how you plan to get from Ohrid to Elbasan as well. I took a locals bus from Skopje to Thessaloniki (Greece) when we played there in 2013. The bus, the trip and crossing the border was fine. The only thing that I struggled with was booking the ticket as few spoke English and all the information was in Cyrillic. Ohrid "St. Paul the Apostle" Airport ... Sun 18/11/18 13:40 London LTN 16:40 Ohrid OHD 2:00 h / DIRECT / £60 From a quick browse on TripAdvisor it looks very straightforward. Take any furgon/minibus on the route from Skopje to Tirana, but leave the bus at Struga - just 15km/20 minutes away. From Struga to Elbasan it appears to be very easy one hour ride. Booked on the Wizz flight on the Sunday (after the home game on the Friday) and then will work my way back to Belgrade during the week after - would be great if Partizan could have an away game somewhere in the south the following weekend! I drove Tirana - Ohrid a couple of years ago and you pass through Elbasan. Very easy. Thinking of either hiring a car - need to check the laws on taking hire cars over the border - or to do the Struga bus. Beautiful part of the world. Plan is 2 nights Ohrid, 1 night Elbasan. The rest of the party are carrying on to Tirana for their last night before flying home, but I've been a few times so not interested.

Have you seen the newly opened underground maze tunnel system yet? Opened 2016 called BunkArt - looks unmissable in this video from minute 25 onwards

The Train ride from Durres to Elbasan. Our segment out of Elbasan from minute 18 on the vid. I did Belgrade to Novi Sad to Osijak last year - which was fantastic - especially the train change-over at the gorgeous lake, near the border. I am soooo wanting to do this - wonder what our @garywilliams thinks about H&S onboard ;-)

Absolutely fantastic documentation of the crimes of the Hoxha regime, one of the best museums I've been to in a while. Thoroughly recommend.

Thanks. Did you watch the video, above? Think he did BunkArt 1 (?), about 20 mins out of town, a short walk from the Cable car station. Are they very similar, or should I aim to do both?

Yeah I hope to have time to do one, reviews seem to lean towards being the original the better one? Both appear to be closed on a Monday :-(

Other museums in Tirana may be closed on Mondays, but both BunlArt museums are only closed on TUESDAY (which is our match-day). Winter opening time for BunkArt is 9am til 4pm and the cable car operates up until 7pm ;-)

Which one is the cable car near to?

Which one is the cable car near to? The cable car and BunkArt 1 are about ten minutes walk from each other, a twenty minutes bus ride, North-East out of town. One review said that there is even a bar inside the bunker! Its the two things that featured in the video - above. BunkArt 2 and the now defunct Pyramid, are smack bang in the city centre. I think that there is also a piece of the old Berlin Wall, half way between the Pyramid and the BunkArt 2. If you decide to stay in the city centre, then consider visiting The House of Leaves - a museum dedicated to st former Secret Service and the "art" of spying, CLOSED MONDAY - muzeugjethi.gov.al/?lang=en This is the official web site for it - bunkart.al/1/si_te_arrini TRY THIS link on google Maps If any one needs to visit this place out of its schedule 9am-4pm or on the Tuesday, they allow a PRIVATE VISIT. Minimum 3 people paying 1500 lek p/p (triple the normal entry, but still only £10, and that includes a guide).

Thought I'd responded to this, sorry. They seem very similar, although BunkArt 1 seems a lot bigger, so probably better. I'm unlikely to head to Tirana unless I find some dirt cheap flights (unlikely) to Belgrade, but I think I would make the effort to see that one - and an excuse to do the cable car!

Won't the FAW be putting on buses as usual? I always thought it was a mix of Leigh/FSF/FAW providing the buses?

Won't the FAW be putting on buses as usual? The ground is in the town centre. No idea why the FAW should put on buses.

FSF definitely but if we have to email ahead it suggests this is organised independently. Plenty of time yet anyway, I’m sure they’ll let us know if a bus from Tirana is included in the ticket price like the last few aways. If not, I’m on Leigh’s!

Can't see them including the bus in the ticket price - as this assumes that everybody's staying in Tirana.
When it's been done by the FAW before it was within in a city where the public transport was deemed unfit / non existent (quite why Georgia was in that I have no idea)

Good point. Could be a similar situation in Denmark with a lot of fans staying in Copenhagen.

We took the metro anyway.

Aegean Airlines: Heathrow to Athens to Tirana, Sunday 18th, 10.15pm landing early hours of Monday 19th in Athens, 4 hrs 45 min wait in Athens before onwards flight to Tirana, landing at lunchtime. Return is mid morning on Wed 21st, with a 1 hr 25 min wait in Athens, landing at Heathrow at 3.30pm. Current price is £170. I bought these flights the day this match was announced and paid £159, so it hasn't gone up too much. Had I been one minute quicker I would have paid £140, but as I was booking it said that the price had changed.
