TAA is sure to be found out today, as he will have Neil Taylor flying down his wing ;-)

Only 2mins this time for Neco and only managed one touch of the ball, but potentially his most significant PL appearance yet as he came straight on for Robertson at LB, suggesting Klopp thinks he can do a job there. If so, he's twice as likely to get minutes next season

Probably, but he could just as easily have done that instead of TAA - it would have made no difference. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him getting more minutes at LB before the end of the season

Klopp: “Neco will play left-back. He plays there for Wales, so it is not completely new for him. We did a little bit in training.”

This could be massive. As I've said before, if he can show he can do a job there, he's likely to get way more gametime next season. I fancy his chances of dislodging robertson way more than TAA too

Forgive me for this, but are we a bit biased on this forum? I'm not watching the game, but looking on Twitter he's not exactly getting rave reviews at all........most fans are actually slagging him off.

Very decent going forward and a great range of pass/cross. Defending ... Well ... He can learn a thing or two from Neil Taylor ;-)
... To be fair, the Ox is not doing much to help him out...
I imagine will be taken off at half time to protect him from a second yellow

Made a very good start, but then lost a battle against their left back and had to bring him down. He seemed to have lost confidence ever since that incident and has tried to take the same player down on another 2 occasions, getting carded the second time. He might also be slightly at fault for their second goal for failing to stop the cross (again, against the same player). Looks like he certainly needs to improve his defending against pace. He's definitely been outshone by that brighton RB who's also 19.

This is the assessment on the BBC live updates:
'It's been a half of two halves in the battle between Tariq Lamptey and Neco Williams, I would say.
Liverpool's Williams started really well, getting the better of Lamptey and putting some good balls into the box.
He may have got too comfortable though, as Lamptey took advantage of him being out of position more and more as the half went on.
Plenty of lessons being learned by both youngsters tonight.'

Harsh to say he was out of position when the RB was hugging the touchline. The winger's job to track his man, not Neco's.

Neco did well overall and had a good battle with Lamptey, who is still having a lot of joy against Robertson. The lack of support from Oxlaide has something to with it and Brighton are targeting that.
Neco showed a great range of passing and crossing ability. His pressing game is top notch and will be an asset for us learning his trade in this team.

First start, and that in a relatively unfamiliar position. Did well all things considered. He’ll only get better.

To be fair, the ‘football twitter’ lot just attack each others youngsters every chance they can, no matter how justified the ‘criticism’ is.

This is why it was bonkers some fans wanted him to start in the Euros that were supposed to happen this year, with 0 games for us yet!
Class we've got such a talented player again, but he needs a lot more senior games before he can claim a starting spot in our starting 11!

Watched the first 30 mins and thought he looked the real deal, especially going forwards. Playing out of his usual position at LB on a yellow card, probably was sensible to take him off by the sounds of things, sounds like Klopp is protecting him more than anything - wouldn't be good for him to get sent off on his full debut. Great exposure for him though, and I suppose these last few games are a good opportunity for him to make mistakes and learn. Not to forget - 45 mins is the longest he's been on the pitch in the Premier League. TAA said Neco was on the way to being world class in his post match interview as well
Here's an excerpt of what Klopp had to say himself - ' Klopp insisted it was only to ensure Williams didn’t fall into the bad habits of holding back on the pitch. "I know in football, everybody thinks it’s not good if you take a player off after 45 minutes. He had a yellow card and we didn’t protect him well enough on the left. It was his first professional start so I cannot tell him not to tackle. I liked a lot of his stuff, he will learn so there is absolutely no problem. I liked a lot how he played." '

Forgive me for this, but are we a bit biased on this forum? I'm not watching the game, but looking on Twitter he's not exactly getting rave reviews at all........most fans are actually slagging him off. From what I saw he did well. Couldn’t watch the second half, not sure if he was taken off. He has amazing technique, nearly every pass was on the money. He tries to force a few killer balls and was out of position a few times, got swarmed for the ball... but it was his full Premier League debut, can’t forget that. If you want to compare him to anyone compare him to Minamino. He looked part of the team, he was used in build ups, he’s a part of the team. If he wasn’t trusted he’d get the Minamino treatment where it’s quite obvious the players will use every opportunity not to give him the ball.

Also... he has one of the best goalkeepers in the world behind him, and arguably the best centre back in the world in VVD to help him perform, plus their indurstrial midfielders. He would be asked different questions when playing for Wales, especially against the best sides.
The postponment of the euros obviously gives him an opportunity to gain more experience, maybe with Wales too! I'm sure Giggs will be keen to get him involved.

You could argue he did well, you could argue he didn't.
The reality is, we've got a player playing for arguably the best club side in the world for us to at least be having the debate and that's a huge win for us. Neco wasn't even really on anyone's radar this time last year, and has never even played for the U21's.
He'll be starting next year, and in a year's time surrounded by great coaches and players will have significantly improved by the time we kick off in Baku.
Well done Neco.
