Fair point but that would be a change in thinking.
Let's face it Coxe is unlikely to play for the seniors anytime soon so I would of pushed Williams up

On form Aaron Lewis should start for the u21s in their next game over Coxe.

90 mins for Neco in the Youth League, as Liverpool beat Napoli 7-0.

He might play in the semi-final, which will be against a weak side. Hoever will probably play in the cup, and then Trent will come in for the Club World Cup final.

Neco still needs to fill out. Good signs that he’s getting named in first team squad at Liverpool. I think he’s a million miles from our Euro 2020 squad tbh

Klopp has said he'll start against Villa on the league cup then fly out for 2nd game of the World Club thing.

Dont think he will go but to say he is a million miles away is overly optimistic.

Kieron Freeman at Sheff Utd? He got a callup not so long ago.

If we don't take Gunter then it'll probably be the case that we only take one right back. But Neco isn't a million miles away, I imagine he'll get a first cap in March and he's definitely in the top five right back choices, possibly top three.

Roberts, Gunter, Matthews, Freeman and Richards are all ahead of him at the moment I know Giggs likes to make big calls, but it would be a massive gamble to take a teenager who's never played a league game over our most capped player

If Neco plays say 5 first team games for Liverpool over the course of the season and plays as well as he did against Arsenal, plus we cap him say twice in our friendlies. If in that time Gunter only has that 1 game for Reading under his belt over the whole season there is definitely an argument to be had. Even if Matthews/Richards/Coxe get a run in any of their teams in the second half of this campaign the argument has to be made. Gunter just needs to move in January to get consistent minutes then he is a guarantee to be on the plane. Even if that means he’s playing in League 1 for half a season.

If Williams gets league games then there is definitely a discussion, I'm not sure 5 cup games would warrant inclusion in a squad for a major tournament, particularly when replacing a presence as big and important as Gunter

If Liverpool continue in this fashion they should have the league tied up by April. Hopefully Williams will then get a chance to impress in the league

He must be very highly rated. Wilson and Woodburn never got a sniff Liverpool are chasing the Premiership - no room for experimenting / risks, so this is extremely encouraging Has anyone seen him play?

That's not true, woodburn made the bench at least a dozen times and came off a couple of times. He also started one premier league game, but came off at half time after being quite ineffective. He had plenty of chances, he just clearly wasn't ready at that time and I don't think anyone could objectively argue that he should be challenging for a place now

Even if Trent AA had been injured I think they'd have brought Robinson on and moved Milner over as it was a tight game. Well Robertson had to come on for Wijnaldum, and Milner was moved to CM so Klopp couldn't have done that. It was only 1-0 when Klopp used Origi as his final sub, so I think it would have been too much of a risk to bring Neco on in that one, especially as Watford had created a fair few chances throughout the game. Had Liverpool taken their chances earlier who knows, maybe Neco could have had a run out.

Liverpool have finalised their squad for the Club World Cup - "youngsters Rhian Brewster, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams had originally been named in the squad but only Williams has been retained".
Liverpool play Monterrey in the first game, so I'd guess that Klopp might play Neco in that one, and then bring Trent in for the final (likely against Flamengo). Fingers crossed he gets some game time. Liverpool play Monterrey on Thursday.

Its just a fantastic development isn't it? I saw the highlights on Youtube of him versus Arsenal. Seemed athletic, full of energy but also very raw. Definitely one with potential.
Amazing how quickly things change in football. Not so long ago Wales attaching options were Bale, Ramsey and Robson-Kanu. Our full backs got a nose bleed if they crossed the half way line despite us playing with a back 5. Looks at us now!

He was far more athletic than I was expecting. Game time did wonders for Trent so who knows with Neco, maybe a loan next season could really see him kick on.
