I'd take him at Luton if he'd accept £6k a week. Think he'll get more elsewhere though. A shame, we need a right-footed (relatively) comfortable on the ball CB because Cameron Carter-Vickers was possibly a bigger reason we stayed up than Nathan Jones. I can't see us getting CCV back on loan so Lockyer would be a good option.
(Jazz Richards replacing Bree for the same reason would be nice as well!)

Interesting lack of belief in Lockyer. From what I've seen of him, he's a pretty solid CB. Big statement, but going on the last few Welsh games, he's looked more comfortable than Mepham.
I'd bet on him to do well in lower half of the Premier League, if he gets the chance that is.

Signing for Luton Town by all accounts. Championship move, at least he’ll have a lot of defending practice there presumably.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they have a good season under Nathan Jones having said that, really like him a manager. Future Cymru boss for me.

Bit disappointing that. I really do rate Tom, and I think he could do a job for a top half Championship side - hell I even think he could do a job for a lower PL side.

As long as he is getting Championship football I'm happy to be honest

It's a good move for him, and Adam Matthews who can now sign a contract with Charlton.

Not sure he could guarantee starting from the get go though. With us he will (or certainly should), my worry is that Bowyer announcing this will alert other clubs to him and they will gazump us.

Still rumours of us chasing Cameron Carter-Vickers. Kind of conflicted on that one. From a Luton point of view, he was awesome and a big part of the reason that we stayed up last year. However, with my bucket hat on, I saw Lockyer coming in for CCV as starting RCB and replacing that hole. If CCV comes in as well, he starts there ahead of Lockyer because CCV is frankly better. Lockyer is better than our LCB, Sonny Bradley in my opinion but: a) Sonny is better in the air than either b) Sonny is Club Captain c) Sonny is Left-Footed. In my opinion, while Lockyer is a better play than Bradley. A partnership of either CCV & Sonny or Lockyer & Sonny, is better than a partnership of CCV & Lockyer.

I would have thought Lockyer would be after first team football. He would have been a guaranteed starter in League 1 with Charlton & I can't imagine him moving to be on the bench for Luton

He must be nailed on as being a starter for Luton. He knows he's got a very good chance of going to the Euro's next year, but ideally needs to be playing championship football with the likes of Rodon, Mepham and Cabango (maybe Chester) also in the fold. In saying that, I think Giggs is a big fan of him anyway.

Unlucky not to score against Man U. Having a very solid game to be fair.

Worried that he won't get a look in again until Pearson makes a rick, because NJ probably doesn't want to split up the Bradley, Pearson partnership. Which leaves me conflicted.

Lockyer started for us against the Swans because captain Sonny Bradley missed out for personal reasons which have now been shown up that his dad had gotten ill and now unfortunately passed away. By the sound of it, he might be taking quite a bit of time off.
With Matty Pearson now being sent-off for attempting an overhead kick on Saturday. He will definitely start tonight as he is the only fit CB. I wouldn't be shocked if he makes that spot his own.

Watching on EFL on Quest and it begs the question when is an overhead kick a brilliant goal or dangerous play. Later on in the programme there was a goal from an overhead kick. I thought the boy was very unlucky to be sent off, but for a split second of timing he could have scored a brilliant goal and been a hero not a "villain"

Speaking as an ex-referee, it was technically a booking. Now, I don't usually like the idea of something being worth a 1st booking but not a 2nd because that seems completely like an oxymoron. Either something IS or ISN'T a bookable offense.
But this is where constant refereeing assessment hurts so much, that was the perfect situation for a referee to use common sense; Did Pearson attempt to play the ball? YES; Did Pearson know the defender was there? NO; Has he already been booked? YES.
Now, the assessor will say that was dangerous play and is a caution and a sending off. However, common sense for a ref would allow you to NOT make that booking.

We need to protects players from head injuries but this was too harsh to be a red in my view

Was excellent on the right hand side of a back three last night (I'll admit that I only saw the second half).

Looks so more comfortable on for ball for Luton too. He's had a couple of runs forward too and should have scored too.

Lockyer starts in the cup vs Chelsea. He'll be up against Werner, Ziyech, Pulisic & Abraham so it'll be a good test

Lockyer starts in the cup vs Chelsea. He'll be up against Werner, Ziyech, Pulisic & Abraham so it'll be a good test Struggled in the first 30, perhaps unsurprisingly with the players he's up against. He was completely dominated in the air by abraham for the second goal, and Werner dribbled around him shortly afterwards. Seems to me that he's ok in several facets of the game - in the air, on the ball, one v ones etc, but doesn't excel at any. So he struggles with forwards that are particularly quick tall or strong. I know lots on here have him down as a first choice cb, but for me he's well behind rodon and ampadu, and should be a fair bit behind mepham and chester too. Davies as well obviously if we have a back 5, but ahead of lawrence and cabango for me

Went off with an ankle injury after 30 mins against Cardiff last night. Shame from a Welsh perspective because he started the game well and even stormed up the pitch to put in a lovely cross that Luton really should have scored from.
Not sure how bad the injury is, but it could possibly leave us thin at CB if we want to rest starters vs Mexico - could a recall for Chester be on the cards?
