I'm sure people have the best of intentions, that's not the issue. I just find it presumptuous that people think they know better than Tom what he should do with his future.

On reflection I didn't make enough allowance for how upsetting people found Tom's collapse. I apologise for any offence I caused.

I'm sure we all understand its a time of heightened emotions for Wales fans. Obviously we crossed words but no offence taken on my part. In terms of Lockyer when he first came through I didn't really rate him. Since he's been promoted to a Premier League Captain and really showed what I knew. Against Turkey he was amazing and I wanted him to replace Mepham and be our main CB against Finland. I've got to say though coming back from the Playoff final, as with Eriksson I though lucky guy, fair play he's recovered and beaten his experience playing again. From here is where our opinions will differ so I won't go there. I know we will all have his best interests in our hearts though.

Collapsing due to heart problems twice in 6 months is not good. I don't think there's any reasonable way he can continue, the risk is too high and will be hanging over his and his clubs head. Luckily he's been okay after both occasions but if something happened to him again and he didn't survive the club would come under serious fire, and rightly so
He's been class and coming into his prime, and he's got such a good story. That just makes this all so unfortunate. Hope he can continue in football in some form, perhaps as a coach

Lockyer's collapse in the playoff final was caused by atrial fibrillation it has been reported, rather than cardiac arrest, as has been reported for yesterday's incident. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65822231It's not clear what the operation he had following the atrial fibrillation incident involved, but on the face of it it didn't involve the fitting of a defibrillator implant, as Cristian Eriksen received: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57508250 So this may be an option for Lockyer. If it is then I'm sure he'll think long and hard whether getting the implant and continuing his football career is a risk worth taking.

I guess if it's diagnosed and treated he could be in a better position then many who may need one but hasn't been discovered. I hope he makes the correct decision either way. Would hate to see anything happen to him again. Surely he's got a job waiting for him at Luton as a coach. He could do a lot to help clubs raise awareness for the equipment they need to help others who might need similar on field treatment.

That's a fair point, and I'm not knowledgable enough to say whether this is likely to help. For Eriksen it's seemed to work and prolong his career, so that would be positive, but I think it really depends on the cause of why the cardiac arrest happened. Fingers crossed he's able to have a similar outcome to Eriksen

Excellent news. I'm sure he will take his time to make the right decision for him and his family. I would imagine he'll be keen to speak to Eriksen and others who have ICDs fitted and continued their careers, or not.

One hundred percent in agreement. Was starting to think - as I clicked thro - that he was spotted at Elland Road ... along with half of Wales signing for LUFC ;-)

Seen him on the BBC talking about enjoying his life doing DIY. Looks like his playing days are over I saw the Sky report where he went to a Luton training session and I didn't read it like that at all. He mentioned that he missed the uniqueness of being a pro and as a normally very active person inside and outside of football, he has resorted to jigsaw's, lego and DIY to keep himself as active as possible. I'm not saying that he will play again of course but definitely no confirmation or even an indication from him that his playing days are over in that interview for me.

Hard to say from the video but I would guess that it's more likely he's looking to return than not.

Amazing passion from the lad. Hopefully he doesn't push himself too hard for this though. Great work from amazing people when he was most vulnerable has given him the chance to be here. Hopefully whatever he chooses will turn out to be the correct decision.
