No news really but I emailed the FAW re: Croatia venue and they have replied "Yes we still don't have any information on it, we are waiting for UEFA to confirm. Once we have any information we will release another statement on our website, socials etc."
As you were...

This is getting beyond belief now , surely UEFA should do or say something about this fiasco soon ?

They have gone all this time without knowing where their game is and their national media haven't even bothered to report on it because the 6 nations is on. Luckily in Wales our media is way better than that.......

I was in dialog with the FAW for a while regarding this, as soon as I mentioned the lack of 'international flights' and the accommodation shortage due to the other event.. it all went very silent..

Anyone think we'll actually find out today? Earlier in the week the press were saying a decision would be made by the end of the week.

Anyone think we'll actually find out today? Earlier in the week the press were saying a decision would be made by the end of the week. No. I doubt it. However, the longer it takes, the more I am inclined to feel that the HNS have been instructed to find an alternative venue.
The visit was completed 2 weeks ago. If the idea was a conditional stay in Osijek (improved facilities / safety) that could have easily have been announced a week ago?
Gut feeling is that HNS will decide Split, as that makes it the least convenient for us ;-( Otherwise, they will go for Rijeka.

I was certain a few bags of cash would move across the table, and it would then be confirmed as Osijek. But the longer it goes on, the more likelihood of a changed venue. The only thing that makes me think it could still be Osijek is the fact that Greece and Russia have still not been confirmed either, so perhaps it's just a long process. Even if it is moved to Split, at least this should allow as many Welsh fans to see the game as possible. Although I'll not be looking forward to the 6am coach departing Zagreb that morning. Rijeka will be a nightmare all round with the small allocation.

I spoke to an online Croat earlier from Osijek. Can’t remember exactly what the latest is here regarding the airport situation but he pointed out that the airport is open during the morning on Saturdays. Considering Wales sometimes leaves the same night after away games (and would definitely have left by the Sunday) I'm not sure how this would affect them.
His impression as a local was that they were stil expecting it to be held in Osijek as that's where it was announced. But he didn't seem to be aware of the contentious decision. Seems like Wales fans are understandably paying more attention.

They must have ruled out Osijek or surely it would have been confirmed it by now. Hoping for one of the bigger grounds but reading the earlier comments about having a full crowd and maximum support to aid their hopes I can see them opting for a smaller stadium to limit our support.

The only one they could realistically pick is Rijeka surely but doesn't that still have the same issues as Osijek regarding an international airport? If Osijek is off the table then it only really leaves Zagreb and Split.

Varazdin is within 90 minutes of Zagreb but they're playing a friendly there against Tunisia 3 days after our game so I doubt they'll want to play it there. Pula is probably within 90 minutes of Rijeka and has a busier airport although I'm not airport although I'm not sure it meets the criteria.

Rijeka is under 2 hours away from Zagreb airport. FlixBus has 4-daily public buses that take 2hr45'.
Also, it has daily international flights to (mostly) Germany as well as 2-weekly to Holland/France/Latvia. Not entirely sure that Split is off from the naughty step yet ...

Rijeka's ground only holds 8,000 Hasn't stopped them playing there in the past In fact they played their final 2018 world cup qualifier against Finland there at the end of 2017. A game they had to win to qualify. They drew and ended up in the play offs.

THAT GAME WAS SWAPPED FROM THE ORIGINAL VENUE OF OSIJEK THAT FAILED A PITCH TEST MUCH TO THE PROTEST OF FINLAND FA....MMMMMM FLIXBUS DOESNT ARRIVE ON THE SAT TILL 1415 WHICH DOESNT LEAVE MUCH TIME PRIOR TO GAME..........LOOKS LIKE A POSSIBLE WONKY SHEEP IN AND OUT FOR ME...THEN AGAIN I RECKON ZAGREB BAR WOULD BE BEST. IM IN PHASE 1 BUT WONT BE WHEN THEY EXTEND IT TO 7+ GAMES FOR 800 ALLOCATION.

I’ve got nothing but positive things to say with any dealings I’ve had previously with the FAW, but they need to grow a set and start taking UEFA to task, this has turned into a farce and the silence is deafening!
IF they inspected Osijek 2 weeks ago what’s the delay? How many more Fridays are going to pass us by before someone makes a decision? Send a bloody delegate to camp out if needs be, at least get something moving.

Would it be 12 out of 12 games, first come first served (i.e. nobody guaranteed a ticket?) Anyone want to hazard at guess at home many have 12 out of 12? I go 150. manulike will hopefully be along shortly to correct me.

I spoke with a Croat the other day who mentioned that this only took place in Rijeka (after they moved it from Osijeka) because there was basically a boycott of the FA at the time and people despised the coach. They wanted to guarantee a sell-out for the game and this was the safest bet. It was only after this draw that they replaced the old coach and then went on to reach the World Cup final.

Send a bloody delegate to camp out if needs be, at least get something moving. I'm afraid this is classic FAW. When things go badly they go to ground and say nothing (and usually let the supporters representatives like the FSF do the explaining and take the flack). Although one this occasion I think that they doing the right thing, there is no way that a small association like ourselves are going to have any real power standing up to the current golden boys in UEFA's eyes, Croatia. Anybody think that there is a possibility that this could go on and on? I get the impression that once an association fails to meet the 60 / 90 day deadline, then all bets are off. The decision as to where the away game against Andorra was going to be played, went down to a couple of weeks (if not a couple of days) before a decision was made where the game was actually going to be played. PS: Booking.com stop emailing me. I know that I have several fully refundable hotel bookings for a certain weekend in June.

I can't correct you there ... but if its 12/12 I'm f...d as I only got 11/12 ;-(
I think circa 300 made it to Mexico and circa 450 did at least one of the two China games.
My guestimate is that there are circa 200 with 12/12 and another 350 with 11/12.
So yes. If Rijeka is named and we get 450 tickets ... things will be bleak ;-(
