THAT GAME WAS SWAPPED FROM THE ORIGINAL VENUE OF OSIJEK THAT FAILED A PITCH TEST MUCH TO THE PROTEST OF FINLAND FA....MMMMMM FLIXBUS DOESNT ARRIVE ON THE SAT TILL 1415 WHICH DOESNT LEAVE MUCH TIME PRIOR TO GAME..........LOOKS LIKE A POSSIBLE WONKY SHEEP IN AND OUT FOR ME...THEN AGAIN I RECKON ZAGREB BAR WOULD BE BEST. IM IN PHASE 1 BUT WONT BE WHEN THEY EXTEND IT TO 7+ GAMES FOR 800 ALLOCATION. Minimum allocation would be c400. The bad news is that they dilly dallied about that game as well and only gave the Finns ... 15 DAYS notice prior to the actual game! The match was played on 6 October 2017 ... and this is the HNS press release of 22 September:
"Unfortunately, the pitch condition in Osijek is poor and it cannot be significantly improved prior to the match. The national team is our priority and we had no choice but to begin the require venue-change procedure with FIFA, UEFA, and Finland Football Federation. This is the only logical and rational choice in order to provide the best possible conditions for our coach and our players. As we are aware of the great atmosphere in the previous matches in Osijek, Osijek will host one of the following Croatia's qualifying encounters".

For both our Andorra game and Croatia v Finland - fairly sure the venue was confirmed by UEFA/FIFA and then subsequently nearly moved or moved. Which is different to what we have for this game, in that this one hasn't actually been confirmed by UEFA yet. I think it could drag on for some time, but I'm confident we'd know the venue with a lot more than 15 days' notice.

Perfect storm of incompetence this. Croatia being deliberately obstructive which by the sounds of it is pretty much standard procedure for them. UEFA saying a ground inspection would be done 2 weeks ago and we've still not heard anything. And the FAW saying absolutely nothing about the situation. As per usual it's the fans who suffer for it.

For those that have already booked this was the second best outcome after Zagreb.
Split, Pula & Rijeka were a nightmare to get to and for onward travel to Budapest plus smaller allocation in some instances as well.

Unbelievable. What's the point of these rules if they allow them to be ignored at will. This shouldn't have even been an issue, the town doesn't meet the criteria, End of. The fact that they've allowed this fiasco to drag on to a point where there's no room available in the town beggars belief. Absolute incompetence from UEFA at the very least. Over to the WFA now, you quite rightly held your council on this, but now its time to go all guns blazing.
1.Why are they allowing to be played at a venue which breaches their rules ?
2. Why are they allowing it to be played in a tiny city with limited resources already holding a significant event that weekend ?
3. Why have they left the decision so late there zero accommodation left in the town ?

FA are fking spineless they've let those corrupt tawts. walk all over us fans. Everyone should should take a pop up tent and litter them all over the town square.

Not ideal for several reasons but at least a decision has been made. It could have been worse.
What percentage of the crowd do we get?

Well at least we know now. Better than Rijeka, worse than Zagreb.
Fingers crossed we are able to negotiate more than 1000 tickets.

If you are genuiniely struggling to find places to stay in Osijek - try BILJE - a suburb about 5 miles North of town. Agoda as well as Booking.com both have places for circa £25-£35 per double. A handful of singles for £16-£17 a night. Its on the regular bus route. Remember, as the KO is still set for 3pm local time, staying in PECS is totally an option - especially if you are trying to avoid the BMX skate-boarding teens ;-(
Train HŽPP no. 6216 Osijek 18:13 - transfer to train MAV no. 8121 Beli Manastir 19:08 - Pecs 20:42

FLYING INTO BUDAPEST
If you are struggling for time, and can't overnight in Pecs (which sounds amazing) - FLIXBUS has a DIRECT bus from Budapest airport to Osijek in 4 hours for €23. Depart at 17:25 arrive at 21:20. Same bus starts from Budapest Kelenföld at 16:30 and then stops at Budapest Népliget at 5pm.
Ryanair direct flight from Bristol to Budapest on Thursday at 8pm is still only £70

HOSTEL TUFNA - 3 dorm beds still available
Right in the middle of the old town and very close to the Citadel and night life. Gets good reviews - but be aware, there is a night club downstairs that runs through until 6am on Fridday/Saturday ;-(
AGODA.COM still give you a free cancellation option for £14/night or non-refunable for £13/night
Probably the last cheap option in town ...

Around 23,000 in Zagreb last night . Yes. 23,146. With a 35k capacity, that is promising. If they draw in Budapest, the fickle Croats will soon lose interest
I only hope they will not lose their rag and get penalised ... again 0-)
