My mate's wife is Hungarian. Is it Budapest for the match? I'll have a word with her and feedback.

I've never taken a train from one country to another before (save England to Wales and back again) so I hope that's an option. Will do both matches over a week.

It seems Leigh James is putting on a bus from Zagreb to Budapest on Sunday 9th thankfully as there's not a great deal of travel options between the two. If you're interested email him on leigh_wales@yahoo.co.uk

You won’t regret it. Serbia was mine and I’ve done six now. Good luck with the ticket!

There is a direct Zagreb to Budapest train every day at 16:38 and tickets are about €29. That site shows two a day but I'm not 100% sure there are two. There is definitely one in the afternoon though.
It takes about six hours or so. Just make sure to buy the tickets the day before, if possible, to avoid queues on the day. There is no restaurant on board but there's no reason not to bring a bag of cans and a few sandwiches.
Obviously there are only two days it works (the 9th and 10th) but it is definitely an option. Tickets should not be an issue. I don't think it is compulsory reservation so it almost certainly can't sell out. In any event, it will not sell out before you get there.
This is a far handier away double header than the one we have (Ireland) from Georgia to Switzerland.

Very true tbf. And better than still than the Scots’ double header in March from Kazakhstan to San Marino.

I think the private transfer that Leigh James is organising may be the best bet, shouldn’t take longer than about 4 and a half hours.

Thanks for the input, SD! Is Wizz Air from Kutaisi not working out for you? Plenty of flights from there to Munich / Prague / Vienna / Krakow ? I imagine it might actually be cheaper to fly back to Luton and then Easy Jet Suisse...

Zagreb to Budapest... 8 people max... 4.5 hours... 335 euros www.octopustransferscroatia.com/search?start_location=Zagreb&end_location=Budapest&date=10.06.2019.&people=4&type=onewayI think there'll be between 2 to 6 of us, (don't you just love trying to organise away trips for other people...), so if anyone's interested in filling a few seats, then drop me a message. I was thinking of Saturday and Sunday night in Zagreb, then Monday morning head to Budapest Cheers Edit: Just noticed they also do minibuses and coaches, so could look into that if there's enough numbers. I'm guessing the bigger the vehicle, the cheaper it will be per person, (if filled).

A little sly of me ... but just used the discount code again on my return leg.
Flying back from Brno via Berlin to Bristol for €65
An even cheaper option to Bristol (direct) could be from Katowice on Wizz Air on the Saturday for €38, but I prefer the Czech Rep ;-)

Any advice on locations to stay in Budapest?

Any advice on locations to stay in Budapest? Been there twice recently. Really nice city and found it very easy to get around on foot, but also there is a underground system, which was fairly simple to use. The city is split in half by the Danube, Buda being the older side with the Castle and palace, but most of the city is on the Eastern Pest side. You’ll be fine anywhere are around the city centre, but I found that most of the good bars, restaurants and clubs are in the Erzsebetvaros and Old Jewish quarter. If you are going out of the city a bit, just make sure its on a underground line. Hope that helps

Booked my flights earlier from Barcelona for what will (unbelievably) be my first Wales away. Just need to try and get a ticket now Think you will be hoping the new stadium in Budapest is ready to be honest. I have a few away's and i doubt ill be able to get a ticket for these. Think Croatia will get a big away crowd due to the beaches and being June, people will use as a holiday too.

No chance the new stadium will be ready by June unfortunately.
