Bearing in mind they have Europe League final in May then possible Visa fees may be looked at for Int matches especially as they host games next year.

Actually the prices are even higher than first quoted. I’d be amazed if they manage to fill that trip at those crazy prices.the flights alone is now OVER £500 each!!!! And the two night trip in near £700!!!! It is a lot of money but compared to other options available right now, it compares well. It you don't have the time to drive to London then hop around Europe for best part of 24 hours before even getting to Azerbaijan, I see how this could work. In fact this is the first time that I would consider using Wonky Sheep due to it being such an easy trip from Cardiff. I don't work for them by the way, but there are trying to run business and help out fans and I'm not convinced they are as expensive as what you suggeste. But I'm happy to be proved wrong. For fans booking RIGHT NOW, is there a flight leaving on the Thursday 14th at a reasonable hour, and which allows me to go to work on Monday 18th, with only 1 stop at most each way, for less than £350? They have only 65 places left and have sold over 100 in 3 days.

With this being their last game before the Champions league final and euros I would think the chances are they will want to stage it that ground to practice procedures etc. I'm sure we'll get enough tickets where ever it's held.

Find the decision to use this stadium rather strange at the beginning of a tournament, especially when they have other stadia with larger capacities they have used in the past, not just the Olympic stadium ?

Any chance of putting on a day return charter?

Azerbaijan charter flight has now sold out. Very well done. Pleased the take up has been successful as its a useful dry run for the euro's. Charter planes will be at a premium during those weeks with large groups of fans travelling all over Europe. Only the London / Glasgow and Munich / Budapest groups looking remotely doable by land. Still early days, have you thought of doing a second plane. General interest from me as I'm already booked via Istanbul.

No, its nothing to do with me. I always arrange my own travel. The last time I went on an organised Welsh trip was Cologne in 1979 with the Cardiff City Supporters club. I still think its not a bad deal even though I expect to pay £ 170 for the return flights. I wont be doing it but I'm 15 minutes from Stansted with cheap flights to Istanbul and connections to Baku. The friends who came with me to Tbilisi paid around £ 150 in petrol, parking and a transfer between Heathrow and Gatwick. That was between 2 so added £ 75 quid to their trip. We cant get back on the Sunday from Baku unless we're prepared to leave at 5 am for the airport,. We're losing a day's work. Its probably the only reasonable way of leaving South Wales on the Thursday morning and have that night out in Baku. Anything else seems to get you there in the middle of the night. If you factor all of that in then its a better sounding deal. Actually the prices are even higher than first quoted. I’d be amazed if they manage to fill that trip at those crazy prices.the flights alone is now OVER £500 each!!!! And the two night trip in near £700!!!! Well it sold out in a week. If you get a chance, I would still like to know what the current alternatives are.

Any chance of putting on a day return charter? Do you know how far it is? It’s like a 7hr flight each way!

Do you know how far it is? It’s like a 7hr flight each way! That’s fine! We may need to win this game to qualify so defo up for it You could do Stansted 23.45 pm on the Friday15th to Istanbul with Pagasus arriving at 6.30am not yet released sometimes as low as £ 50 Istanbul 10.50 am sat 16th to Baku arriving at 2.45pm with Batu airways currently $ 30 but no baggage cabin bags extra $ 17 Baku 7.45 am sun 17th to Istanbul arriving 9.35 currently $ 42 no bags Istanbul 11.25 am sun arriving Stansted 12.30 not yet released Good bit of change out of £ 200 return but you'd need to be pretty fit and healthy to stand it, I'd probably sleep through the game. These flight patterns run daily so you can extend it if you can get some time off work. As Cymrocairn says this is a long trip to do straight there and back. You really need to have a day in the city before hand. Seems to be a really cheap city in terms of accommodation and entertainment.

Any chance of putting on a day return charter? Definitely no chance of a day return charter sorry.
Another charter like the first one is unlikely too unless we get a surge in demand for it.
We do however have 4 day 3 night trips from Gatwick and Manchester

I did the 23.45 overnight to Bosnia via Istanbul for the qualifier in 2015. Had about 5 hours of sleep in about 4 days. Very tough getting into work on the Monday morning!

Flights all now booked via Istanbul with Pegasus and Buta. 4 hour wait on the way over 2 on the way back. Cost sub £ 150 seems very reasonable to me although the prices have now risen.

Just found out that Pegasus winter flights can be booked via their mobile app but not on a laptop or PC. I downloaded the app and booked for our party of 8 through that. I'm a complete technophobe so if I can do it then anyone should be able to. The return to Istanbul ranged from 70 - 80 quid. I'd originally thought it would be around a hundred. This is looking a real cheap trip despite it being so far away. Going out on the 23.45 flight on Wednesday night and getting into Baku mid afternoon on the Thursday. Return Monday morning

I see that their double-header (Hungary and then Slovakia) in June (both at home) is being played in the Bakcell Arena, with 11,000 capacity...
That's also where they played their 0-0 friendly vs Lithuania earlier today...

I hope the reason behind this decision is based around they have the Europa league final at the Olympic stadium and is fairly close to these dates. If their home match v Croatia isn't played at the Backnell arena I won't feel so nervous or disappointed. But in the past few years whenever the national side have a competitive match if it's not played at the Olympic stadium, they tend to use the Tofiq stadium in Baku which holds 31,150 ?

Similar scenario here - 6 of us travelling with different 'away' record history, from none at all to 4 aways. By looking at the previous stadiums used, Baku as a city, and the smaller away allocations for other countries in this group are hoping this is the one that secures a ticket for us all we hope, please.

However, UEFA still got a blank there and the Azeri FA got no information atm...

Let's hope they get their house in order prior to the Europa league final in May.Maybe they used the Backell Arena recently as it would require less organization and pressure due to the low attendance as I cannot figure out why they didn't use their 2nd optio, the Tofiq stadium !!!

Eastern European nations and their choice of stadium for respective matches is a complete enigma for me, particularly for the teams that move around. I get the wish to play in stadiums that generally meets the attendance expectations, ruling out a move for single one off games. Azerbaijan for instance played their last world cup opener against Norway in their 60 thousand plus seater Olympic stadium and won with a crowd of 35k. Six months later they play their next home game against Germany in the sold out 30k Tofiq stadium. Why do Bosnia pretty much always play their biggest games in Zenica and some lesser games in the capital Sarajevo. Why did 15 bus loads of us leave form the Sparta Prague stadium car park and drive 2 hours to play in in Teplice. Don't even get me started on Croatia. We've been really unlucky with this draw. How much better would we all feel now if the Croatia game was in Zagreb and the new stadium in Budapest completed. God I hope we qualify and don't end up with the Wembley Hampden group.

I didn't realise that the Europa League final is on 29 May ...
Rambo, FYI, if you don't mind staying on another 24 hours in Baku after the game, you can get a direct Wizz Air flight to Budapest. From there its just a train to Pecs and another short hop across to Osijek to meet up with the lads. Happy to book you into the Youth Hostel as well, but they dont accept children under 8 years-old - so Colleen is going to have to stay at home ;-(
