Anyone else having trouble loading a picture of their passport in the visa application? Probably just me! Photo needs to be 1g or less, most camera phones are a lot bigger

Only long term at the moment but the weather forecast is looking pretty good. Thought it may be really bleak this time of year.

Ref Visa photo problems. Download a photo and picture resizing app from google play (Android) and reduce the size of your picture. You'll have no problem after this.

Is anyone else flying from Gatwick via Kiev? If so have you been able to check in yet? Should be able to check in 14 days in advance if you've paid for seats in advance, otherwise it's 48 hrs in advance. We've paid for seats, but can't check in.
Don't really want to be checking in for return flights while we're in Baku, got better things to do.
Sorted rang UIA Kiev through the app, checked in and boarding passes got Phew!

I'm with O2 and they don't cover Azerbaijan. Remember to tell your card issuer that you're heading there too.
Our gang of three jet away in just over a week. Really looking forwards to this one.

Received this from Neale Jones at the British Embassy this morning,
Many thanks for your email – we were originally told it was sector 2B but I have now made further enquiries and the sector is 4A as you state – we will urgently update our Travel Advice
Let’s hope for a positive result for Wales – as you can see from my surname I will be supporting Wales (I am from Merthyr Tydfil)
Safe travels and many thanks again for sending us this information

Based on UK temperatures, even for someone on the wrong side of 50 I tend to be a shorts and tee shirt kind of chap if we get over 15 - 16 celcius. Looking at current Baku weather it appears fairly mild and pleasant ?

Looking at current Baku weather it appears fairly mild and pleasant ? We were there for a few days early last month (8th-10th October) and it was very windy even when you were a few streets in from the promenade. We wore shorts but you would definitely need a jacket in the evenings. It might be a bit cold for shorts now.

Was intending to take a cagoule, like to travel light when on Wales away duties !!!!

Just noticed my visa has the bar code blanked out, but the visa number is showing. Any advice please as to whether there will be a problem getting in to the country.
Further to the above, eventually got a link (www.evisa.gov.az/en/check-status) and then clicked on passport number. I re-printed and bar code was showing. Spoke to someone who also had bar code missing, so guess there must be quite a few. However, the visa number is showing.

Is anyone in Baku yet? We’re just having breakfast before a stroll to see the city.
I understand Fountain Square is where to drink?

There's a nice little boozer just off Fountain Square called the Hops Pub. Owner is bang on and the pool table is free to play. Watch out for the feral black cat that decided to squat in the place. It hopped (excuse the pun) up on the bar counter beside my mate and scared the shite out of him when he was ordering a pint .

We used The Hops on the night before the game. It was great. The cat also let me stroke them.
