Ben just signed a new deal at Swansea City and our own fiveattheback should come on shortly with his inside story ;-)

''Swansea defender Ben Cabango, 18, could be latest British youngster to head to Germany, with the Wales Under-19 international attracting attention from Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg. (Sun)'' from the BBC Sport Football Gossip.

Going out on loan at any level increases exposure, as long as you get in the team (TNS).

More you gsters could do with going down the same route.
For example a season at his home town club would do Sion Spence no harm, especially with some European football. Could also train at Cardiff as well if Barry are t full time yet.
Maybe another youngster to Cardiff Met as they play decent football.
Maybe Liam Cullen could go to TNS for example next season.

You'd think that the league would be full of ex Cardiff and Swansea or more players on loan from the two biggest clubs. For some reason it hasn't worked like that.

What is happening to the players being released by Cardiff and Swansea. I know some end up in the lower leagues but where do the rest go?
Or are they just not very good.

An excellent header from a corner it was too. Swansea fans are a bit mixed in their opinion about him, but he certainly has a raw quality about him that suggests he could be a decent player down the line. Jordan Davies, ex-Wrexham and Bangor on loan, featured for Brighton. He didn't particularly catch the eye, but given that he's playing for a side second in the table he must have something about him. One to keep an eye on.

If you ignore his time with TNS in the Welsh Prem and Champions League (qualifiers).

I can't say I watched him all that much, but from what I understand he didn't particularly stand out in the Welsh prem. I've been hearing good things about him in the u23s however and last night he was apparently very good.

The raft of academy players training with Swansea City's first team and the encouraging message for the future.I have to say, as a Cardiff fan, I'm so jealous of Swansea's approach to their academy recently. Their relegation really was a blessing in disguise for Welsh football. Potter and now Cooper have been great managerial appointments. Meanwhile, we're stuck with Warnock who I've given up all hope of ever playing an academy player in any meaningful game - he barely even played any in pre-season friendlies. The sooner he leaves the better, though I don't really trust our board to find a progressive manager to replace him. But it's great to see a number of new Welsh players on the fringes of Swansea's first team, including Cabango. I remember there was a fair bit of hype around Liam Cullen back in the day in that squad with Woodburn and Tyler Roberts that won the Victory Shield. What's the expectation around him these days?

May need another loan spell. Maybe Newport or another league 2 club.
Probably not ready for championship yet.

Gabbidon is being kind and overlooking several big mistakes/lapses (or as he admits couldn't quite see them from a tricky vantage point). Nothing calamitous like in previous games but "didn't put a foot wrong" is over the top.
Cooper considers him a first team squad player now (4th choice behind Wilmot), doesn't turn out for the u23s often. Always had the frame but doesn't look gangly any more. Limited as a footballer but improving gradually. Not often you see the senior centre half switch sides to accommodate the junior player, but with Cabango absent a left foot it was necessary. Connor and vdH looked after him well.

Due to Mike VDH injury, and if he does miss any games due to injury then it'll be Cabango partnering Wilmot.

Cut out a couple of crosses with last ditch interventions that could well have led to goals. Also good in the air. As good as any other Swansea player on the ball. Unfortunately that isn't saying much as Swansea were shocking. The Swansea Way is vanishing with every passing (or non-passing) game. I know it's early in his managerial career, and Cooper has got a lot of things right on the defensive side, but Swansea are being Monkified by Cooper. That's not a compliment.

Most Swans fans seem to have caught up with me now I've been expressing my concern about this too, but have been reluctant to be definitive about it. Even now I'm still living in hope that Cooper will see the light. If you look at the raw stats then Swansea lie in the middle stylistically, but closer to Monk than to Potter. It's the direction of travel that's the most worrying thing. From a Welsh perspective it's annoying that Roberts' overlapping abilities are not being exploited with the selfish Ayew in the side. One superb overlapping run from Roberts was ignored by Ayew until it was too late first half. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if Cabango gets an extended run in the side, although the injury to VDH didn't look that serious.

From Waleonline report "The 19-year-old centre-back was sent on for his league debut, and didn't once look out of place. Cabango looked remarkably composed on the ball and read play incredibly well on numerous occasions, cutting out dangerous crosses from the likes of Lewis O'Brien and goal scorer Karlan Grant. Such were his efforts, the Wales Under-21 international received a round of applause from his team mates in the dressing room after the game. But while it's still early days in his professional career, Cabango showed exactly why those behind the scenes at Fairwood and at the FAW rate him so highly." link

Benefiting from his experience with TNS.
Hopefully Spence and Ratcliffe kick on when they return to Cardiff next season
