Did alright. Passing good and had one Rodon-like run through midfield but also some hesitant defending which could have been costly. A few dirty looks shared between him and Woodman, put each other in trouble a few times in that second half, especially after vdH went off.
Adam Matthews the best Welsh defender on the pitch. Connor had a great game going forward.

Had a good wrestle with Sarr when they put him up front near the end. Wilmot looked the nastier after coming on. Led with an elbow into the back of one of their lads going up for a header. Throws himself into tackles from some distance away too often. Their Jason Pearce had the worst one of the game though on Byers. Should have been off.

Marc Guehi coming in on loan (with a rumoured guaranteed gametime clause) presents a problem for Cabango and Cooper going forward. Unless vdH and Wilmot are off. Potentially an 18 month stay.
Not a fan of us developing other team's unproven young players. Didn't love us bringing Wilmot in but at least he'd played some EFL and Serie A football previously. Guehi's played less senior football than both our Wales u21s defenders.
Posh label on his jersey though, must be good (he might well be but I don't recall ever noticing him when I've seen Chelsea's u23s play).

All over the place at times this half. His yellow, could have been a red? Looked like he led with an elbow?

Thought he did well overall. Not afraid of the physical stuff either.

Booked early but adjusted his game well.
Coped with the inevitable aerial bombardment. Strong for such a young player.

Cabango just smiled and ran off until everyone else piled in. He took Glatzel out and it wasn't his first foul, then ran back in. Clear yellow. Arguably led with the arm

Plenty of time to develop, but very promising.

He did well although our attack probably isn't the greatest of tests to be honest. Taylor on the other hand has really got his work cut out against Man City today. Don't see Cabango making it this summer but certainly one for the future. All fit I would expect we'll take the following 4 centre halves. Roden, Mepham, Lockyer and Ashley Williams. Full backs Davies, Taylor, Roberts and one other who'll be a tough choice.

I was thinking more about his positioning and how easily he was dragged out by Cardiff's attack. He doesn't look ready for international football to me but accept I'm going on a small sample size.

But he looks a good prospect to me and I hope he develops well.

A mixed showing. A bit careless in possession at times, but competed well - and one excellent sliding intervention that he did well to put over the bar that prevented a probable goal. Considering he's only 19 an impressive start to his professional career.

Considering he's only 19 an impressive start to his professional career. In the premier league some of his careless passes would have led to goals. Overall though he didn't look out of his depth and CB's generally mature like fine wines. It's not easy to play there at such a young age.

He’s developing really well, mistakes are to be expected as his age so I don’t think that’s concerning. He can make all the mistakes he needs to at his age, as he needs to learn. I think he should be called up in March but that’s not to say I think he should be on the plane for the Euros. Let’s have a look at how he does in a friendly and start introducing him to the senior set up.

Agree with the sentiment here. He's shown promise and looks to be an option for us in the long term, but I don't think he's ready to seriously contest for a euros spot. He has rodon, mepham, lockyer, williams and probably james lawrence ahead of him with only 3 or 4 going.
I have a couple of concerns about his potential - he looks quite awkward on the ball which is not in line with the requirements for a modern CB, and his lack of pace on the turn could be a concern in the long term. I'm sure he will be a solid championship player for years to come, but I'm not sure if he has the key ingredients to make the step up.

Valid points, although I'm not sure about your comment about his pace on the turn. Late on he showed good recovery speed to make a timely intervention, and generally I've gained the impression that he's strong on the physical aspects of the game, although I stand to be corrected on that by jaspert, our resident Swansea U23s expert. Talking of the Swansea U23s they just beat Boro 5-1, with Liam Cullen getting a superb hat-trick. Should get some game time with the first team before the end of the season, especially if Ayew leaves.

It's based on watching him play 3 or 4 times, so obviously I'm happy to be corrected by those who have watched him more often. But in all the other games I've watched him, Swansea have played with a high defensive line and Cabango has struggled with it. The recent game against Charlton stands out where their forward looked to get in behind him a couple of times and Cabango was slow to react and was also extremely slow in getting up to speed. Watch this clip from 6mins onwards to see what I mean: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl104tLA_rM. He's a very big unit which has its pros, but it may explain the slow turn and acceleration.

He was active in athletics as a younger lad, and his brother's pretty quick down the wing for Cardiff in the rugby. Had some decent top speed coming from u18s but he's put on a fair bit of weight in the last 12-18 months. On the turn and from a standing start he's not as nimble as someone like Rodon is. Could maybe do with getting some advice from van der Hoorn before he leaves, Big Mike went from being quite a slow, heavy-footed player when he arrived to startlingly quick over a sustained sprint. Slimmed down some, too.
Liam Cullen's not English enough for Steve Cooper to give him a chance. Brewster's guaranteed gametime will clog up the local pipeline unless there's an injury. Not Cullen's biggest fan but he can't do much more in u23s football now, and has shown that playing with higher level players can bring out some real quality.

A bit harsh in singling him out - as it was a collective failure. If you look at the start of the move on the extended highlights on the official site the shape of the team as the Wigan attack developed was awful. If Cabango was at fault then it mainly for being so advanced and over to the right as the attack developed, but the same could be said of Byers, leaving poor Connor hopelessly exposed - a consistent problem under Cooper.

Keeps his place with 2 more experienced CHs on the bench.
Playing two 19yr olds CHs. Old man Rodon on the bench.

A Rodon/Cabango CH partnership for the first time.
Should be interesting.
