Vaulks offers nothing useful apart from a long throw. He won’t improve the team, we need to move away from a small minorities obsession over him.

Vaulks is not suited to this style of play, apologies to his fanboys but thats just how it is.

He wouldn’t have made a blind bit of difference tonight. The way some are moaning, you’d think he was on a par with Messi!

I'm not a Vaulks fan either - but with Allen out and the need to rest Ampadu and Morrell I'd draft him for the Mexico friendly. It's not as if we have many other options to play alongside Smith. He'll want to make a point if given the chance.

Not good enough, sorry. If Cardiff get promoted will he start in the premier league? I think no and this answers all the questions for me. He has many noble qualities but unfortunately none of these would have helped us last night (long throw, never give up, getting stuck in, long shots etc.).

We must be extremely ahead of ourselves to think that a midfielder playing at a higher level than half of our current midfielders isn't good enough.
Offers nothing but long throws - bullshit, as seen by his Cardiff performances.
Doesn't suit our style of play - reality check, we don't even have a style of play. We alternate between formations more than I change underwear.
We have better options - yes of course, Smith at League 2 is by far a better player, Levitt is the next Scholes, Sheehan......
Some people are stubborn and have written him off purely based on the Croatia game. Pathetic.

Are many people actually saying any of that? The vast majority of comments on here seem to have agreed that he should have been included even if most suspect he is a fairly limited player and others have more potential. This seems a bit of a caricature of people's views on Vaulks.

Not good enough now and never will be.
Poor in possession and gives to many free kicks away.

Came on today 90+4 and got sent off a minute later!
I don't follow Cardiff, but have seen this rashness in his play on the odd occasion I have seen him play for them. I would think that is what stops him getting in squads for Wales.

www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/will-vaulks-pfa-championship-player-community-2021This guy really is a top bloke. I’ve never understood why morell/smith/levitt are all ahead of him on footballing grounds, while he plays at a higher level than all of them. Add in the type and strength of character he is and there’s an even stronger case for his conclusion. I have an outside hope that it was a Giggs thing to exclude him (perhaps Vaulks’ moral caliber was an unwelcome mirror back onto his own soul?), and that Page will see the value in such an experienced DM who’s used to battling it out with hardly any possession, and that this combined with the expanded squad size means he makes the squad. No, Vaulks isn’t a great player, but we are talking a position where the other options are league one players, or on the subs bench at Luton. The football industry at this moment judges Vaulks to be better and more valuable than Morell/Smith/Levitt. Crazy in my eyes if he doesn’t go.

Vaulks should definitely be considered now that squad size has been increased to 26.
A hard grafter, a long thrower, a goal scorer of the spectacular variety - and a good character to have around the camp.

Personally I agree but don’t forget that the last squad was a 31 man squad and he wasn’t included so the increase to 26 hasn’t helped his chances much.

Wouldn't make my 26. He is poor with the ball and can be reckless in the tackle.

there is no denying he is a top bloke, but elevating him over Morrell or smith (who have both done really well for the national team) just because he is playing for a mid-table championship team is a bit of a long shot. rightly or wrongly, he hasn't had much of a look in for Wales and there is a sniff of a chance with the extended squad, but it doesn't seem likely. i think the main reason being he isnt the best with the ball at his feet, and that is a must for international football in his position. as a side note, i work in Bristol with a lot of City fans who couldnt believe that Morrell didnt get a look in and was sold. it is strange how he struggles to hold down a regular championship place when he has done so well at international level.

The enigma that is Will Vaulks. Cracking bloke off the pitch, complete bell end and liability on it. One of the best strikers of the ball in the Cardiff squad, totally limited at everything else.
Dim diolch.

The forgotten man... Had both assists in the match tonight and was a rock in midfield. With a bit more industry from Eli King and Davies, Will could have had another two assists ...
With Matthew Smith only playing a single match since September, I really don;t see how he can get into the squad ahead of him?
