Barnsley striker who qualifies for Wales through his grandfather from Llanrug. He was banging in 19 goals last season and none of us knew!

Can't see him being an improvement on Vokes given what looks like a similar style of play and considering the level he's playing at, but worth a look I suppose!

Goes to show where Ched Evans currently stands, not much hope of a call up.
I guess things could change if he got into double figures in the Championship.

Would like to see him start Monday. Maybe we'll see a Vaulks vs Trinidad type of enthusiastic performance, hopefully a bit more effort than the usuals who'll just treat it as a run out.

Give over, if your going to use the ‘anglo’ card then need I remind you that probably 1/4 of our squad are ‘anglo’s’ by birth.
David Brooks only played for England youth a few years ago, so who cares about a bloody cap.
If he can get us goals, I’m happy to see him play.

I don't care who he's played for as long as he shows dedication and commitment

Every "Anglo" in our squad now has played for our youth teams, so as far as I'm concerned they're born and raised Welsh. David Brooks decided to commit his future to Wales after making a youthful error of judgement and realised England wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Dummett, Vaulks & Moore are essentially freeloading cloggers who have had uneventful careers, realised they had a Nain they never met and have decided to use that for a bit of a profile boost. They've wasted half of their careers hoping the England call-up would come and then settled for us, but if England were sniffing around them they'd be scrambling down to Wembley.

A few flaws in your argument. Dummett played for our youth teams and Vaulks was called up to a youth training camp which was then cancelled so not really his fault. Vaulks has been available for selection ever since but obviously his career path didn’t warrant a call up until recently I do feel, however, that Vaulks and Moore (and James Lawrence for that matter) are no better than what we already had so we didn’t really need to call any of them up. —

How do you know they've 'wasted half of their careers' hoping to get an England call up? You're just making assumptions. And I agree that our current 'anglo's' have been through the youth system, thus making them 'more Welsh' like you say. I would suggest that maybe the likes of Vaulks and Moore could have been approached years ago, but maybe Coleman didn't fancy expanding his squad. Who knows why it's taken them until now to get involved.

It would be a huge gamble, and if Vokes was match fit and we wanted to play a traditional number 9 he would be the obvious choice. Given that Giggs didn't go with Bale as a number 9 versus Azerbaijan I think there's a fair chance that he'll go with either Vokes or Moore against Slovakia. That wouldn't be my preference, but at least we'd have a proper team shape (making big assumptions there with Giggs in charge...), with round pegs in round holes.
Moore surprised me with his mobility for such a big man. He was fouled constantly so he didn't get much of a chance to show what he's made of - but he did show a few decent touches. For such a massive match as the one out in Slovakia you wouldn't normally consider such a complete rookie - but anything would be preferable to playing Lawrence as number 9 again.

I thought he was great, and it was a terrific debut! alarch you say that he was constantly fouled, but if you watch it again, you'll see that most of the time he was playing for the foul. Great centre forward play, relieving the pressure on the defence! You never seen Vokes winning free kicks, as he tries to flick the ball on constantly, rather than getting his body in the way of the ball and the defender like Moore. I'd be happy to see him up front against Slovakia!

Trouble is Belarus weren't shy at conceding fouls were they, so it's hard to gauge whether, in a qualifying match, the opposition would adopt such a reckless approach.

He was much quicker than I was expecting and the main reason why I'm feeling much more positive about the Slovakia game now.
We have an abundance of pace on the wing and the Slovakia game would be perfect for a rapid counter attack style, all we need then is striker that is quick enough to keep with D James to tap in his cross. It is obvious that Giggs doesn't see Bale as a centre forward (or he sees his value being on the wing) and Vokes isn't quick enough for a counter attack game. So Mr. Moore, make your granny proud and score the winner ;-) If he doesn't score, he does draw fouls and we have a glut of first class free kick takers.
If we still need something late on, that would Vokes to come on bully a goal for us.

He's the best option at 9 we have and starts again for me. Playing without a 9 who has his back to goal, is clearly not working (i e. 3 or 4 no.10's all doing the same thing).

Amazes me that people get carried away with a half decent performance in a friendly.
It was Vaulks and James Lawrence last time and to be honest niether are anywhere near good enough.

No one was that wowed by the performance I don't think. More the effect of having an out and out 9 had on our overall performance.
