We were awful against Trinidad. Vaulks was a standout in a terrible performance (ran about a lot and had a shot or two), while Moore did a valuable job as part of a decent one.

Give over, if your going to use the ‘anglo’ card then need I remind you that probably 1/4 of our squad are ‘anglo’s’ by birth. David Brooks only played for England youth a few years ago, so who cares about a bloody cap. If he can get us goals, I’m happy to see him play. Every "Anglo" in our squad now has played for our youth teams, so as far as I'm concerned they're born and raised Welsh. David Brooks decided to commit his future to Wales after making a youthful error of judgement and realised England wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Dummett, Vaulks & Moore are essentially freeloading cloggers who have had uneventful careers, realised they had a Nain they never met and have decided to use that for a bit of a profile boost. They've wasted half of their careers hoping the England call-up would come and then settled for us, but if England were sniffing around them they'd be scrambling down to Wembley. While you are making such broad sweeping generalisations, do you realise James Chester didn't play for our youth teams so would fit into our "freeloading cloggers" category?

He's been the only exception to the rule. He worked his arse off to help Wales achieve something, but I just can't see the same enthusiasm or leadership in either Vaulks or Moore.

If the alternative is Vokes or Lawrence then by Christ I think we need to cut Moore some slack and give him a few caps to prove beyond doubt he is rubbish. Were you similarly unamused when Freddie Eastwood scored that goal against Bulgaria?

Vaulks has got a bit of personality, and personality goes a long way.

The Vaulks debut, granted, against a very poor T&T, was a very enthusiastic performance and probably a memorable debut in my opinion. He may be a limited player, but he's been overjoyed with being called up to play for us, and will give his all. He's barely been in the setup 6 months yet, so unfair to write him off.

Ashley Williams didn't play for our youth teams either Picked Wales as a young lad whilst at Stockport in League 2, fair to say he wasn't holding out for England or "enjoying the International experience" like Vaulks or Moore.

Vaulks has got a bit of personality, and personality goes a long way. If singing anthems & having a guitar-playing goalkeeper counted for something, we'd have 5 world cups by now.

Amazes me that people get carried away with a half decent performance in a friendly. It was Vaulks and James Lawrence last time and to be honest niether are anywhere near good enough. I'm getting (slightly) carried away with a half decent performance in a friendly is for several reasons. It seems that FINALLY Giggs has a plan (reasons to be cheerful No.1) - He is trying to put into place a wing-back system with a rapid counter attack style. And we have TEN first choice players that that can implement that system perfectly (reasons to be cheerful No.2). Heavens, we might even have decent replacements for each of those positions (bar the 'Ramsey' role). The only thing that we are missing for that system to work is a centre forward. And that is a pretty big piece of the jigsaw to be missing. It is such a big piece that it is the difference between the system working wonderfully and failing miserably. That piece doesn't have to be the best in the world, it just has to be the right fit. And maybe, just maybe that English born clodger is exactly what we need (reasons to be cheerful No.3).

Hope you’re right. Doesn’t say a lot for Sam Vokes though I sooo hope I'm right as well. Imagine this; the ball is won in the opposition half, it goes straight out to Brookes, he belts down the wing with the ball burns off their defender and puts a cross in along the deck into the penalty box and all the striker has to do is keep up with the pace and tap it in from ten yards. Even if they hit the keeper from ten yards there is a fair chance that Ramsey would put away the rebound. Vokes would be far to slow to fit into a rapid counter attack style. Vokes might be useful as a sub for a Plan 2.1. If the defenders have pace or good at picking up the runs, we could always revert to Brookes / D. James putting the crosses into the box for Vokes to head home.

Ashley Williams didn't play for our youth teams either Picked Wales as a young lad whilst at Stockport in League 2, fair to say he wasn't holding out for England or "enjoying the International experience" like Vaulks or Moore. He was 23 when he made his debut, turning 24 a couple of months later, Vaulks made his debut aged 25, hardly a huge difference A 23 year old in League 2 would realistically have no chance of playing for England, using the same logic you've used against Vaulks and Moore, that would have factored in his decision making, if he'd been in the Championship would he have jumped at a Wales call-up?

So you don't think team morale and spirit had nothing to do with it? Coleman and Roberts bloody said themselves they wanted to create a feel good factor within the camp. You're missing the point a bit. Back to Moore........I'm presuming you were never a fan of Steve Morison either?

Feel good factor had an element to do with it, but it was largely down to being a well organised team and having our best players available. We tried the anthem bollocks vs Ireland and shock horror it didn't work, because Bale was out of the team. Was never a fan of Morison, 1 goal in 20 games isn't offering much to the team.

I agree totally with gwernybwch. The 9 position is pivotal to the way we play and what was missing in order for the 10's/wingers to work effectively. This guy doesn't have to be skilful or a world beater but is vital in keeping the ball up top and occupying the defenders to create room and time for the others. Moore could be that guy doesn't mean I'm getting carried away but he starts for me next.

Don't think we saw enough of Moore on Monday to make any kind of conclusion yet. Sure he put himself about, but he didn't see an awful lot of the ball. Time will tell, and he deserves another outing. He's seems to be more mobile than Vokes, and Tyler Roberts has yet to really impress in a Wales shirt. As regards the overall performance, slightly better than Azerbaijan but 6/10 at best. Plenty of room for improvement and individual errors need to be cut out soonest in my humble opinion. Not convinced that Giggs is up to the job. We'll see in the coming months.

Shame he hasnt been capped more, because we dont have any decent options up front atm. I think I’d start him over Vokes against Slovakia

Didn't do much tonight. Had a lot of tireless running off the ball, but pretty much nothing with the ball. Was subbed after 65'.
Lee had a more than decent match.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he still hasn't scored yet? He's played a good few games now, so that really isn't good enough. I know we're seriously lacking options upfront, but I'd start bale centrally with James and Wilson each side. I think it's criminal that giggs hasn't played that way more often before now, it means we go into this game with no tried and trusted option up front.

I can’t remember the last time we played with a proper centre forward like we did tonight. Won some headers, scored and good movement too. I’ve seen Vokes miss the sort of chance that Moore scored from more times than I care to mention too. No offence to the lad but hopefully that’s the end of Vokes as a starting option finally.
