I'm sensing a mood swing with opinions around the rights and wrongs of recalling hrk starting to change. I'm still torn, but on balance, think it would be wrong for him to be given a spot over someone like vokes who has never let us down - not in terms of his commitment anyway! For me, that's really important which is why I didn't want dummett to come back into the fold...

Still a NO from me.
Would be interesting to know what the other players think as that could be key.

If he carries on playing like he is at the moment then it would be stupid to rule him out. There must be fair possibility that we'll be without Brookes so lets not close the door to the possibility. The likelihood is that he'll struggle to maintain this form but if he ends the season on 20 plus goals then it will need consideration.

I don't care if he scores 20+ goals this season, it sends out a stinking bad message if he's allowed to stroll back into the Euro squad after throwing his toys out of the pram and retiring.
If he really wants to return to international football, then I'll happily see him in the Nations League.

Simple answer: HRK & the FAW release a joint statement stating he'll be joining up/playing a part in the upcoming friendlies to reintegrate into the squad asap but will NOT be in contention for an Euro 2020 place and will only play competitively from Autumn 2020 onward. Honest intentions are proven and we can all move forward.
...however...
What if his form continues and we exit Euro 2020 as a result of a lack of flexibility/options up front? It'll be Ramsey v Portugal level regrets all over again, "if only we'd taken HRK".
For me, why risk it. If we have a willing player ready to come back and the squad & staff are happy to have him back, bring him in. Any complaints of toys & prams will be quickly forgotten if he gets us over the line in a game.

if we didn't qualify, would wehave heard from Hal??? No chance. The reason he gave as to why he came back after retiring doesn't make any sense, unless it's to come back for a major tournament.

The way I see it, first few squads Giggs didn't want him, and was nowhere near the travelling 30, never mind the gameday 24. I think he thought he was done, so retired before he got retired. I'd happily have him back. He's in a rich vein of form, and id would be nice to have a choice between him and Chris Doidge with them on the bench to play as a 9 with 20 minutes to go coming on for Kieffer. Doidge to do what Kieffer does, or HRK to run like fuck and cause problems.
I honestly reckon Wales retired HRK, not the other way around. So I'd love to see him back.

Sod him.
Would be an insult to the ones that got us there. Not good for team spirit.

If we have injuries to the strikers who got us there I would call him up.
If not he can wait until September

As we are struggling for backups worth looking at in March friendlies surely?

Only 30, if he's on form then why not? The more choices the merrier. Has had personal/family problems according to his interview with BBC, plus there was the Romanian bird. He's been in contact with Giggs for a while as well. Never let us down (retirement accepted), be nice to hear that chant again.

Happy for him to return if the situation allows. If not for the Euros, will welcome him back with open arms for the Autumn matches

Can we stop being so precious and a bit more ruthless?
I am grateful for what Moore did for us but if we were in the last 5 mins of a match against a decent team in the euros and one man had a 1 on 1 with the keeper, who would you want there - Robson-Kanu or Moore?
Sorry but Moore can hardly hit a barn door when shooting. Maybe an option from the bench but not a starter unless we have no option.
Robson-Kanu is far more rounded too and can also score headers (ie. Scotland, Moldova) and he always gave 101%!
I bet some jokers would rather have Ledley in the squad after making 2 sub apearances for Newport than Robson-Kanu. Ledley is someone who lost interest. Robson-Kanu was honest, left and wants to come back. I want the strongest team/squad possible. In friendlies people say play this youngster (Williams - Liverpool) or the likes of 2nd / 3rd players who never made it. This is a guy who settled things versus Slovakia when we needed it and stunned Belgium on the BIG STAGE. You cannot buy that mentality!

The same mentality that retires from his country at 29?

I think there's a danger of nostalgia creeping in here. Because he hasn't played for us in a while, and because he had those massive moments for us, people's judgements are getting clouded and they only remember the good things he did. We should also look at some cold hard facts, mainly he only scored 5 in 44 games (I appreciate practically each of those were massive goals, but it's a pretty shabby record in and of itself). There were also many games where he was ineffective, off the top of my head I remember he was pretty rubbish in the Portugal semi final and the two ireland qualifiers. He offered no threat at all in those games. Let's not forget that Coleman continuously rotated him and vokes and I can't remember any outcry at the time. So he's not this brilliant striker suggested by some on here.
I'll always respect what he's done for us and I wouldn't mind seeing him coming back (although not sure if it's right for the euros). But let's not exaggerate his quality.

He is a scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer. As far as I am aware, he was never really playing regular club football for the majority of his Wales career.

Its quality and consistency.
He definitely played a big role but solid teams would work out how to play him
Let us not foget he missed 2 sitters versus Hungary - one a header from just yards out where he just had to hot the target and one in a 1 on 1.
How many goals has he scored for Wigan?

His goals for us have been a bonus on top of the fact that he has got us playing much better football.

I don't want to seem like some unsophisticated pub-grumbler in comparison to the all-knowing tactical hipsters, but the position he plays means he should be scoring goals. You don't hear about posties who get more praise for their safe driving than their ability to deliver letters. It's not like he's brought about a tactical revolution either, he's just a big fucker who's size makes him a handful for the defenders. If he's out injured or suspended, we're back to square one tactics-wise - not really a sustainable plan.

Look I am very grateful for what he did for us - he definitely was one of the catalysts for turning our qualification around. However, the kind of 1 on 1 miss against Hungary - I don't see on a 7 a side court for the over 40s. You can't afford to not, at the very least, make a full blooded effort on goal against the best teams, if you get a chance! Lets be honest his record at Wigan is shocking. How come he is not effective / dropped for them, yet he us clearly a better option than Hal for us?
