Hosts wont automatically qualify, that's what opens up multiple countries hosting the event. That settles it! Can you imagine the state of the place if we didn't qualify yet Cardiff (and it would only be Cardiff) was a host city... Wales' English-born residents would be flying the St George, pubs festooned with Union Jack bunting, the glory-hunting fair-weather Wales supporters backing England, Radio Wales holding a "We're all English aren't we phone-in", . ... it would be like a Tommy Robinson parade all over Wales. I've got a Cold War Steve image of it in my head right now. It's horrible. What's with the digs at Cardiff? Of course it would be Cardiff, there's only one ground big enough in the country and it just happens to be in the capital.

If it is a 48 team tournament, I don't see why you couldn't have all 5 nations qualify automatically In a 32 team tournament with 2 hosts you'd have 30 other qualifiers In a 48 team tournament with 5 hosts you'd have 43 qualifiers. The way I see it that's still plenty of opportunity for countries to qualify Yes, but the five hosts are all from the same federation. They intend for there to be 16 European sides in a 48 team tournament, but there'd be 21. You've still got 27 countries from other nations, which is more than there currently is, but the intent of having a much larger tournament at least on paper is to have much greater representation from Africa, Asia and the Americas. The more I think about it the more this makes sense. Can’t see them giving 5 countries from the same fed automatic qualification. Only way I can see it is if all home nations have to qualify normal route. However reading what others have said about Uruguay, it definitely seems to point in that direction unfortunately for the UK.

I'm sure the home nations, and therefore Cymru, will host the World Cup at some point within my lifetime

Surely the 75,000 seater R.R McReynolds Racecourse should host a few... Bang on with Cardiff though. The fan zones last World Cup supporting England were cringeworthy. What fan zones? There were chain bars offering deals but I can't recall any fanzones in Cardiff What would be the issue with English people supporting their country in Cardiff? There are people who support Wales in every English city Near Mermaid Quay I think. Typed in Mermaid Quay World Cup 2018 into google and a post came up saying they had to cancel as thousands showed up to watch England/Sweden. Would you have thousands in London supporting Wales? I just don’t like how we’re always roped in to supporting England. It’s a major stretch to think they were all English, more like thousands of Welsh holding back their Welsh identity.

There was the Principality Stadium tweeting about what England XI you would pick. Articles on WalesOnline about why to support England if you were Welsh.
Ridiculous. These people needed to wake up.

You're quite right. "Fan zone" is a stretch in my opinion as it makes it sound like they'd been set up specifically for England games like the one in Cooper's Field for the Euros, it was just a screen down the bay showing games. I remember seeing the end of Iran/Portugal when I went for a meal there in the summer There are Welsh centres in London that showed our games and I've never been troubled when walking around Nottingham with my Wales top on, bars were happy to have us with our Welsh flags so I don't see why we should be any different with England supporters in our cities. There are definitely some Welsh people who support England, no denying that, but there are also English who support Wales. National identity is a personal thing and I don't think its our place to criticise people if they want to support England & Wales, its not an issue for some people. I want England to lose at everything, does that make me a "better Welshman/more Welsh" than someone who supports both nations? No it doesn't. Its not a huge stretch to imagine that a lot of them were English. 8% of Cardiff class themselves as "English only", that's about 30,000 people

Its not a huge stretch to imagine that a lot of them were English. 8% of Cardiff class themselves as "English only", that's about 30,000 people I’d say the better Welshman depends on what you see Wales as. If you see Wales as a future independent country with a strong identity I’d say not supporting England does make you a better Welshman.... If you see Wales as a strong part of a United Kingdom then I agree it doesn’t. Being on here I imagine we all love our independent football nation, our flag, our anthem, our unique identity which clashes with the direction Britain is going in. You have ‘Welsh’ people committing to vote for Abolish, people questioning our language and supporting a flag we aren’t part of, a royal family forced on us, a union we never agreed to. Post Brexit I don’t believe there is a luxury of being on the fence because there is no standard we’ll revert back to. I think blurring the lines between Wales and England can only harm Wales and benefit England.
