He had an injury. Forest didn’t want to risk him. I’ve moved on already. I was raging at the time. We need him

He can do one for me, rather give the shirt to someone who wants to play for Wales
If you are not committed to the cause then I have no interest in you.

Can we drop the whole "it's all Pages fault" thing please because quite clearly it wasn't. Yes, he should have done more, the FAW should have done more but there was some dishonesty in all of this and it can't be allowed to happen again otherwise this becomes a Giggs situation. Evidence of dishonesty please.

As I've mentioned previously, brennans dad, David was in split, he mentioned how pissed off brennan was at forests treatment of him. And I've no reason not to believe him.

That makes it sound a lot like "Steve Cooper told me not to" sort of talk. At the end of the day it is the player who makes themselves available, I've no doubt Bale had Madrid ordering him not to at times. He is clearly a fantastic player, but he has now got to earn his way back in.

Let's not be overly sensitive over this please. Whoever you think is most at fault here Cooper, Page or Brennan or all of the above, it's clear there's an equal split of blame to varying degrees
What we also know is that there was an injury, and Brennan was eager to join up with the squad. Those are the facts
Let's not start questioning his committment over one mis-step. He will be back in for the next one and I daresay by the end of the year this will all be forgotten
People said the same about Ramsey's committment a few years back but that's all gone quiet and it became obvious it was bad luck that he missed that run of games
Great to see Brennan performing at the top level, he will be so key to our chances of going to Germany

Let’s move on, we took 4 points from the 2 games which is probably more than we could have hoped for 2 weeks ago and make sure the lad feels welcome come June.

I hope he's fit and available in June. Two 90 minute performances either side of missing the two games he was supposedly injured for and apparently unable to play any part in is dodgy as hell, there's no getting away from that but we came out of it with four points and saw the emergence of Nathan Broadhead so all in all it was a great success. In the future I hope these situations are handled a lot better.

Whichever way you look at this a doubt in the lad's commitment has been created, so now we have to wait and see where this goes in the future, I just hope the media hype around Johnson does not effect him in a detrimental way that causes issues for him and Wales. Iv'e said more than once he potentially has a chance to progress to a high level and really hope he knuckles down and enjoys a decent career with us and at club level.

Can we bore off on this bullshit?
Seriously what do you want to do - force him out?
All these people in their glass houses throwing stones and they actually have no idea what went on except for what an emotional, unprofessional Page blurted out when he should not have and what he said was Johnson wants to play for Wales. I am sure you would all go public and slag off your employee because you are so patriotic. I am sure you would all put your country before your own family - which goes against the grain human nature. The way some of you talk is really extreme. I know you love Wales but for goodness sake lets focus more on positives and stop harassing a young guy who started delivering for us, looks an elite player and has never clearly let us down and had to sit on the sidelines in the WC despite our misfunctioning team
We don't deserve him as a country if our fans are actually a bunch of self entitled critics that these comments are suggesting we are. Goodness to complicate everything - Johnson is playing for his home club where he was born and bred. Look at how parochial us Welsh are and we are expecting him to come out and say I hate Forest they stopped me playing for Wales - who ever does that anyway! Forest is likely his first love anyway and guess what that would be very normal

This is 21st century Britain, we do not send kids to the workhouse anymore, workers have rights, probably more than the employer nowadays. You go through the channels starting with your immediate manager and if the situation can't be resolved you go to HR. The process is no different for a £10 an hour warehouse operative or a 100K a week footballer. And in this boy's case if he is such a prized asset for Forest I don't think they are going to tell him to do one, do you? I'll leave it at that and we will see what happens in the future.

Sobering thought: 8 league goals for Brennan Johnson 🏴⭐️ Only six cymru players have scored more @premierleague goals in a single season in the last 23 years.

I think all people wanted was an explanation, from whoever, rather than trying to comfort themselves with a story that his dad saw someone and told them that he was upset that he couldn't join up with the squad. It was just a bit murky, Haaland didn't play for Man City yesterday after missing international games and to be honest I thought that was how it was supposed to work, if you can't play for your country then you can't play for your club a few days later. I genuinely thought the rules were something along those lines, which is why the two full games either side of not being allowed to join up with the squad for the hardest game in the group followed by the first home game since the World Cup seemed a little confusing.
At the time I was gutted and that feeling turned to anger when it was appearing to be such a mess, anger also because this felt like it was evoking memories of the international career of Ryan Giggs where we had once of the best players in the World but he only played for us when e felt like it. I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone feeling that way, he's one of our best players and an absolute key part of our future, had we lost both of the last two games I think a lot of people would have changed their tune on this. I'm over it now and looking forward to the next batch of games and I just hope Brennan can be part of that and start banging in goals for us.

Whenever a player pulls out of an international camp there’s pages and pages on here accusing them of lack of commitment or faking injuries etc. It happens with the youth teams too, especially when they’re dual qualified.
In almost every case it has turned out not to be true and the players involved usually turned up at the next camp and earned many more caps.
Yes there’s been the odd case like Dummett where it turned out to be true, but as 95% cases when we’ve accused the player as not committed turned out not to be true, can we just give Brennan the benefit of the doubt?

It's a question of their relative importance to us too isn't it?
Hennessey also withdrew from our squad injured but was on the bench for Forest yesterday?
Think we were all looking forward to seeing Brennan as an automatic first choice for us for the first time and post Bale and co, relying on him to supply our flair and goal threat. Hence major upset at his withdrawal. Trouble was that Page reacted like a fan. There was a two week gap between Forest's 2 games and therefore time for a minor injury to heal. Could well be that Forest took the piss here but there's no definitive proof and we declined to get the player in for a scan.
Hopeful that Page and co recognise that regular dialogue with clubs is the way to go on this and hopefully building an environment of trust and respect. I'd be surprised if Bournemouth don't hold our medics in the highest esteem!
Don't think there's ever going to be a definite explanation on this kind of thing. Roll on June. Looking forward to seeing Brennan in a Welsh shirt again.

Page said Brennan wants to play for Wales 2, Giggs seldom missed qualifiers did he? I don't understand why you are so hyper sensitive and defensive of this to anyone that is even the slightest bit sceptical of what has happened. People are allowed to question things that appear questionable and this is one of those situations. Like I said, it's gone now and we move on, I'm not questioning Johnson's loyalty to Wales but if someone could have just made it clear from day one what was going on the whole thing would have been a lot easier to digest. Giggs had 64 caps in 16 largely injury free years. Chris Gunter earned 109 in 15 years where he wasn't always first choice. It's not a myth, the availability of Ryan Giggs when called upon by Wales, and friendlies were/are important, especially when you are Wales trying to put a team and system together with a rather unbalanced pool of talent to choose from. This isn't a "you're wrong and I'm right" conversation and I don't want it getting dragged into that, let people have their opinions and if you don't agree with it that's fine, it can make for an interesting discussion or read if people share different opinions. Trying to shoot down anyone that has a view that doesn't fall within the parameters you've set for yours just makes for a bit of a messy thread.

This does not make any sense. He is Welsh and he’s our best player. If he plays or doesn’t play it’s crucial! I reiterate if he doesn't play for Wales he is not crucial to Wales. It's like saying Pele would have been crucial to Wales if he played for Wales!! He is crucial to wales. If he plays we have a better chance of winning that is crucial. If he doesn’t play we have less chance of winning and that is also crucial. As for pele he’s Brazilian.
